WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Anytime a caller addresses them as formally as that lady u can bet it's gonna be followed by complaints or attacks.
It's baffling to me that so many people are confused to what atheism is. It seems like an incredibly simple concept to grasp -- atheists reject god claims. How is that confusing?
Confused people dont get it...
Because "reject" has very different meanings for different people.
To us it's pretty much "we don't accept that as true" .
To others it may mean
- refuses to believe
- declares to be false
- knows is true, but willfully defies
Saying religious people are mentally ill is an insult to the mentally ill.
Steve has got to be lonely. Everytime he calls he won't stop asking obvious questions and tries to keep the hosts on the phone. He asks a question as if he doesn't know, then after the hosts tell him the answer, he then repeats their answer as another question. One call he asks what an "I" theist is, cause he didn't know but heard the term, when hosts say don't know, he asks again in other words, then tells them that he talked to an I theist and that they told him what it means. He already knew. Also like can an atheist be a humanist? Then restates the answer. When told an atheist is only not believing, then he goes on for 20 minutes asking if other things can be an atheist when he was already told. He knows the answers to everything. But he wants to show hosts that he how much of a thinker is. I get fascinated with people like this. You can see that all his questions have been answered many times and still asks more. He has to have no life.
I should know. I sit here and post dumb shit.
I think he's trying to make them look unreasonable, it felt like if you take the tone out it's just somebody who's planned the discussion to lead somewhere
He's a lonesome loser.
If the science allows for it I think that parents should have a right to know. (if child is Down syndrome)
There is a very high chance that they will have a permanent child that will never be independent.
No parent expects to be saddled with a permanent child that can't grow up. (harsh reality)
Sadly in the end it is society as a whole who often end up paying for the severely mentally disabled. I know families with children born in permanent vegetative states (many often don't live past 25-30) and I find their parental actions not loving but rather cruel and often selfish. I would rather have no life than no quality of life and I find it absurd that taxpayers should pay for these sick pet projects. In light of increased quality of pregnancy screening I hope more unborn children facing lives of vegetative living death are spared...through the abortion of the pregnancy.
Tyler Kasuboski our infant daughter needed a high risk surgery that could have left her in a vegetative state. We signed a DNR (do not resuscitate) in the event she had a major complication in her surgery and recovery. It was the hardest decision, but also we felt the best for her and us. I loved her more than my selfish need to keep her alive with zero quality of life.
@@trishayamada807 I'm sorry to hear that your family has to deal with this, but that's a commendable choice to have made. Quality of life is what's ultimately important.
@@trishayamada807 Stay strong Ms. Trisha. It is hard for sure.
I have *no idea what Christians agree on* when it comes to Jesus.
When it comes to, "What Would Jesus do" in regards to, homosexuality, capitol punishment, assisted suicide,
abortion or cloning *the answer I get depends entirely upon which Christian/denomination I ask* LOL
I just want to say Thank You guys… I just think about everything in a hyper critical point of view. I understand people and I just feel free of thought. Thank you guys for Unlocked brain powers
Hope you are doing well 😊❤
Craziest caller ever. LOL.
Wow! Christ called in!
The number of people who see or believe something, has no baring on its validity
Millions of people in the past believed that the sun went around the earth.
They can't all be wrong !
A small number of people saw Jesus alive after he died
They can all be wrong.
tedgrant2. If “millions of people in the past[,] believed that the sun went around the Earth”.[,and,] “They can’t all be wrong !”
This first part of your comment, is not just wrong, but it’s moronic, especially with what you say in the next bit.....
By saying that “They can’t all be wrong !”[.]
Then you’re obviously saying that SOME OF THEM, were right!!!
And if a part of a group of people(size is irrelevant) believed that, and they were right, then the whole of the group, WERE RIGHT...
So, only the moronic, would imagine, that out of a group of people, that all believed the same thing, that some were right and some were wrong!?!?!?!
Especially, because we are all well informed now, that it’s a lie, that the sun goes around the earth, therefore they were/are all wrong(no ifs ands or buts), and we have known this(openly*) since the sixteenth century.....
*I said openly, because I am sure that the pope(yes I do know that that’s not the real title/name, for the head of the Catholic Church, but I am an atheist, so I don’t care what they are really called, because they are charlatans), that was so blasé, about the wonderful telescope, that Galileo showed to him. Was so blasé, because the church had had better telescopes 🔭 for a while. But they were not interested in letting the people know about them(which is why they threatened Galileo to keep quiet about telescopes), because they would have been allowing, the people to know(find out), that their most basic precept, was a lie, as is the rest of the bible........
"I'm thinking of become an atheist" what?🤔
Steve, sorry man, but every time someone says "Judaeo Christian" anything, I cease taking them seriously at all. DO NOT USE THAT TERM. It means NOTHING. It's like saying "a Ford Corvette" or "a married bachelor."
That's crazy!!!
Cemeteries should be outlawed (except on private property). So many millions of wasted acres.....
Tyler Kasuboski agreed. And same with burying in airtight boxes in cement crypts in the ground. It should be all biodegradable. Decomposition is a good thing.
@@trishayamada807 I think roadside memorials should be banned. I hate driving past those everyday.
Can we give up golf courses too? Lots of wasted acres or maybe we should turn cemetaries into golf courses. Double use.
I saw an article about an alternative option in some countries:
You can be frozen (I believe using liquid nitrogen) and then 'vibrated' down to dust, leaving artificial implants intact (the cremation of which causes enormous polution).
What little remains is then placed in a small box with seeds, to be planted.
@@trishayamada807 only when it's not you who's decomposing.
Yes even if millions saw Jesus they could all be wrong
Steve is very stuck in a religious mindset. He wants to get the atheist bible and just follow, but that's not how it works lol
Around 24:00 Mentally ill. Crazy. Irrational.
A few thoughts.
1. All might be interpreted similarly by the person being so described.
Matt figures he can't use mentally ill cuz he cant diagnose mental health. My point, I guess, is that even if the recipient equates irrational with crazy...Matt can legitimately diagnose "irrational".
2. I figure
Mentally ill - pretty much only re those who are so diagnosed by a qualified pro.
Crazy - this is now generic. It's used across the board. A crazy night. A crazy guy. A crazy idea. Etc. So anyone claiming proprietary rights or ownership would be -cr- ...too sensitive.
Oops. And irrational. You're either on the Reason bus or you're not...for any given point. If you are caught in possession of a logical fallacy...you are, at least atm, irrational.
26:55 minutes in i noticed the shirt
Schizophrenia been mentioned over visions and auditory experiences has been mentioned but I think by an atheist caller.. not sure..
Jesus Christ, the first caller was a sociopath and the last caller was your classic follower that needs to be led around by the hand.
He's carrying a lot of mental baggage and needs professional therapy.
Much Lunacy has been done in the name of religion....
My god....stop the thought police please
All Christian callers are just not that intelligent
go Jen!
Is Ryan a serial killer?
