    These videos make understanding IPPB so much easier. I always struggles with IPPB. Maybe because it is not used as much anymore so we loose practice. Thanks for the clear instructions.

    I remember the old spirometry..it was a galvanized looking can with water and then there was another barrel,with graph paper and a needle,to measure air rates

    Can you run this off solely room air at 21% oxygen? in my notes for class it says approximately 40% O2 or 100% O2

    My mom,had to wash the tubing,they did not buy disposable.
    They stopped using IPPB,for treatments,cause they thought it damaged the airways

    If we want to give i.e. salbutamol, do we need to attach a nebulizer machine to the IPPB?

  • @pauletxfish4976
    @pauletxfish4976 ปีที่แล้ว

    basic but acceptable, your correct about he Mrk 8 but failed to explain the "why" for the "negative pressure control" thats why the pressure manometer had a -40 ! Only the Mrk 8.

      I have 2. Found on ebay, sold for parts, unwanted and unloved. Mine are Mark 14s, they are very interesting machines. Why is it called a respirator? What is the difference between respirators and ventilators?

    • @resptherapyedresources1997
      @resptherapyedresources1997  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Katy Brennan. Technically speaking respiration is the transfer of gases across a membrane, such as external respiration (in the lungs) and internal respiration (at the cellular level). Ventilation is the act of moving gases in and out of something, like the lungs. The closest thing we have to respiration or a respirator is extra corpuscular membrane oxygenation (ECMO). So what we have are ventilators, such at the Mark 8 which is in the video. People call them respirators due to a historical misnaming of the device.

      Thanks for answering my question. I love these little green ventilators, you can see how the machine works and they are pretty in the sun. They do make nice pets, no litter box to clean, lol!
