I was at this competition (Ballroom Beach Bash) in April 2023! Everything Olena said is totally true. A dancer’s finished look takes a lot of time, and includes preparing mentally and physically. Congratulations to you and your husband on a stellar performance!
Wow, the power of make up! She looks like two completely different people (both stunning, of course). It's interesting to learn about the exact reasons certain things are done, like why dancers wear their hair tight to their head, and how using tanning lotion helps enhance the way you can see their physique and movements. As someone who hasn't danced since elementary school and really only ever did it as an elective, these peeks into different lifestyles and careers are so entertaining.
She's so lovely. I aspire to have this level of calm & coolness while being absolutely fierce. Allure always picks the most down to earth yet force of nature people.
Very informing interview and insight into a competitive dancer's life..:) I enjoyed her sharing what she ate for breakfast, but it would have been nice if she mentioned what she has for lunch and dinner also.:)
Wait does all that hair gel come out super easily?!? This is definitely a great person to highlight because of the level of costuming in ballroom dancing performances but i kinda wish there was more included about her workouts and diets and stuff.
Speaking as an ex dancer, some competition circles require it and some don’t, it really depends…I tanned for my first couple but quickly stopped as for my competitions didn’t require it and I didn’t feel confident in it
Im going to assume based on theater and cheeleader makeup but lighting in some scenarios can wash your skin down so to look with some dimensions they exaggerate makeup and tan.. or like bodybuilding competitions, they tan like crazy to define the muscles under the lights
@@AstraRoseYT i personally find it very annoying, time consuming and SO ugly. I guess my question was more as if it's something one can opt-out of and if it's required, does it apply to males as well 🤔
@@Jazminzesati I guess with body building there is a specific reason but i fail to see the need for ballroom dancing lol people end up looking like beef jerkies.
@@jules1599 It's because of the lights, and it's a way to catch the judge's attention if your skin sparkles! I think she forgot to mention it but normally, besides the liquid tan, we use something called a shimmer powder that not only sets the tan, but also gives the skin a shimmery gold-like appearance. It doesn't look as unnatural as just the liquid tan; if you search for couples dancing in Blackpool or in the German Open, you can see how it looks :)
For a lot of countries, tanning is standard. It's part of "the look" of the dancers. She also said towards the end that it was to show off their muscles under the harsh lights and hide the tiredness and exhaustion they might feel.
You cant do a makeup tutorial and then not show us more detail about the products (what glitter liner??) and a face on zoom. We can't even see what she's doing and we didn't get much of a chance to watch her do the diagonal. Come on now.
God bless❤ prayer here when needed❤and know that Jesus Christ saves! Repent and trust Him love❤come to Him humbly, truthfully, and with your all, God wants you❤
Her skin is PERFECT! She looks so young, it’s hard to believe she’s been dancing for 20 years. She looks like she’s 20!
If she started dancing as a child, she absolutely could be in her twenties!

Ohh…I didn’t think of that! Lol
I assume she like 25
Yesss
Ukrainians just have that great skin.. But also, she is young, 30 at most.
Please bring this series back!
As a fellow Ukrainian who used to be into competitive ballroom dancing at school but has since stopped, this warms my heart !

Why do they need to tan? Is it a requirement?

When we thought that the orange foundation days are over…I understand the heavy make up for performing, but not the orange foundation and tanning.
For a lot of countries, tanning is standard. It's part of "the look" of the dancers.
She also said towards the end that it was to show off their muscles under the harsh lights and hide the tiredness and exhaustion they might feel.
That was stage makeup.
They always look way younger without the tan and the make-up.
Her neck has some thick muscles 😮
You need a strong neck especially when dancing standard ballroom.
She's gorgeous! But... I think that's the wrong shade of foundation, no? She's gone very warm, and I think she's cool.
Shes beautiful but that was not enough SPF. You slather that in your face
