I've recently been running in to that issue as well. It is extremely underwhelming to be attacking for 60, or even 30 sometimes. And while you're poking with 60 or 30, your opponent is slowly setting up a consistent attacker like Mewtwo ex, Venusaur ex, Articuno ex or even Charizard ex. And since the new Promo Mankey card has been released, a lot of people have been using Fighting type decks more too.
2 Pikachu ex, 2 pikachu & 2 raichu, 2 magnemite and magneton and an optional zapdos ex and then a bunch of trainer cards lt surge is really good with magneton and raichu.
Yeah no not having more basic kind of underwhelming. Im running 2 pika ex, 2 pika, 2 raichu for snipes, 2 magneton, 1 zapdos ex, 1 electobuzz mid game or pressure before pika ex/zapdos OR raichu comes out to knock enemies out.
Do you have any videos where you walk through your thought process on each turn? I am BRAND NEW to TCGs but like Pocket. I have most relevant cards for this pikachu deck and hearing why you do what you do each turn would help. I can follow along and make inferences but the play by play would be a really great listening and learning experience.
I'm a F2P player, I've somehow gotten lucky enough to get 2 Articuno so far, so I have a Greninja Articuno deck and it obliterates, it's soooo consistent, being able to do 30 damage to the bench is insane, won me the game too many times,
Pincurchin is a must for Pikachu ex decks, you can start with them, it does take 2 energy to do damage but the chance to paralyze after damage is huge in tough situations. Helped me during the Lapras event. My current deck: 2x Pikachu ex Raichu Pikachu 2x Blitzle 2x Zebstrika Magnemite Magneton (4 energy attack that takes 2 turns to fill up because of ability) Pinchurchin 2x Professor Oak 2x Potion 2x Pokeball X speed Sabrina Giovanni Haven't pulled a Zapdos ex yet.
I’ve also played with pincurchin and it has been a big player in the past but the more my deck got filled out the worse pincurchin worked with the rest of the cards. He’s a waste of energy compared to pikachu and does nothing of merit against mewtwo, and starmie because they just out pace him. He’s a budget stall Mon that is trying to be an alternative sweeper. My deck has one but it will be removed when I get my second zapdos ex because it’s so much better
@@dittmar104 yeah I've been swept by a Mewtwo deck and a Dragonite/Wheezing deck. Everything else I feel like isn't a match for the deck. Once I get the meta cards I will probably use that but until then I am working with what I got.
I don't think Pika deck can possibly lose in the Lapras event unless you make major mistakes. Personally, I'm not sold on Pinchurin, and I don't like Raichu version either, as it requires you to play Lt. Surge, which isn't good if you don't draw Raichu. The versions shown in the video work best, I've been using Zebstrika one since day 1, and I win the vast majority of my games, and haven't lost against water decks even once. But without Zapdos I agree, Magneton/Raichu version isn't terrible, just make sure to play 2x Lt. Surge, otherwise you are just wasting slots on Raichu and Magnetons.
Wouldn't say it's a must at all. Needs too much energy for how little dmg it does for a Chance at paralyzing them. Too inconsistent and isn't reliable. You're better off setting up your Pikachu asap
I've run some Pikachu EX, and it's probably the best deck. It's limited by the inability to pull more energy and the ability to pull specific cards. If you run 2 Pikachu ex (2), the Electrode line (3) and a third basic (4) you need all four of those cards ready to do the max 90 damage. Poke Ball gets you 2 of them (6) , but you're still fighting the odds of pulling the basic against your non-basic cards. There's basically a 6 in 20 odds on turn 1 that you'll pull a basic, and you've gotta pull 3 of them plus a Pikachu. If you add more basics, you lower the odds that you'll pull Pikachu. That trade-off and reliance on RNG is the "balancing" factor for this deck. If you put out a non-Pikachu basic to buy you time to find and set up your Pikachu ex, then you've still gotta take two turns to put energy on it once you've got it - in which time your non-Pikachu basic will often die.
@PunzL Sure, that's an option, but then you've gotta get Zapdos or another tank set up instead of your Pikachu ex. Meanwhile, your opponent's set up his ex and now has the drop on you.
@Derael He can chip away at opponents with his 20 damage, sure, but that's not going to get you anywhere. If you want a tank, try the Voltorb line for free retreat.
@AmiiboDoctor I mean, Voltrob line sure is nice, but their HP is lacking. It's a good second best option, but I don't think they are as good as Zapdos EX. Zapdos is still a much better tank, and if you are unlucky and don't draw Pikachu you can just put 3 energy on it and kill big Pokemons with it. It's not much, but considering it costs just 1 energy, you can still do 2-3 attacks with it before it's at risk of dying, and soften up enemy Pokemons for 1HKO with Pikachu or later snipe them with Zebstrika from the bench, it's a very nice combo. Idk if Voltron variant is better, since I unfortunately didn't get any Voltrobs from packs, so I've been using Zebstrika version and while I do have problems getting full bench sometimes, I still often win even without full bench thanks to Zapdos.
My lightning aggro deck is by far my best at this stage as a F2P. Attack quick, low or no retreat cost (esp with 2 X speeds) low energy costs. Drawback are hp are generally lower and lack of recovery
agreed on sabrina but mewtwo ec/garde is the best deck higher floor but FAR higher ceiling. it rarely fumbles if you know what youre doing and when it does what it wants to do its literally unstoppable rn. pikuch ex is the safer option but it gets easily bodied by almost ANY deck that pops off. pikachu ex just doesnt have the power to take out any other ex pokemon on it own in one shot. and its bulk doesnt save it from the better ex attacks like mewtwo's either. pikachu ex only wins when youre opponent draws a bad hand (a well built deck almost never does this) or the opponent fumbles (which ANY other meta can of course take advantage of too)
@@aa-tx7thmewtwo garde could never be the best deck because it relies on a 2 stage evo. Too much rng, way too easy to get fucked over by way faster more consistent decks
they're on a similar level, but the other cards in electric type is much better. Zapdos has a cheaper cheap attack, harder hitting strong attack, cost less to retreat, doesn't share the same weakness with the rest of the deck, which can be used as an alternate wincon when the type matchup is not ideal. Electrode is same as golduck, which is also a card that gets put in starmie EX decks a lot, but has free retreat. This renders opponent's sabrina weak because pikachu ex deck cannot be slowed down by sabrina.

I have played a lot of Pikachu ex deck against the Lapras ex event and I can tell you there are MAAAAANY ways how you can not get setup :D
I run 12 Pokemon, 8 basic + 4 stage 1. Both Zeb and Electrode lines. The thing about Pika Ex is you really wanna fill in all bench slots by the turn you have 2 energy on Pika.
I don’t know if you’ve done an exact deck tech for this, but I cooked a koga deck that runs Weezing line, Arbok line, and Pidgeot line. With 14 mon cards, I only have room for pokeball, oak and koga, but Pidgeot is basically an at will Sabrina, and poison is like a Giovani if you squint a little… it doesn’t pack a lot of power, but the control Pidgeot and Arbok afford is pretty satisfying.
zebstrika is a better choice from my experience. not only can you finish off a target on the bench to get kills but you can also freely demolish the opponents bench if he is using a high hp meatshield while powering up his bench. electrode has too low hp for a 2 energy stage 1 pokemon wich makes him an average first pokemon to play and an average bench pokemon while zebstrika is a great first pokemon and an amazing bench pokemon. that second energy is of much better use on pikachu or zapdos when using zebstrika than it is on electrode and it suits better to the "lightning fast" playstyle of the deck in my opinion.
Imo the best deck in the game is Alakazam and Weezing. It can pretty much one punch man everything meta as it energy ramps to use a move like Pika, Venu, Mewtwo, Char, Dargonite, Articuno, Starmie, Zap Arcanine, Champ, Lapras (some of those are alongside Gio). The only exceptions to its imminent threat is the following in descending order Blastoise it takes 3 energy to get online and 180HP, that makes Alakazam would hit 150. BUT Blastoise being already uncommon mid tier water deck it will try to stack more for additional move effects with combo Misty so that ultimately punishes itself against Zam. As Stoise additional effects hit at 5energy and at 4energy with Gio it can be 1 shot by Zam. Next would be Exeggutor, as 160HP pool cant be 1Shot only needing 1energy against Zam. This is mostly quelled by the fact that it is a walk and will mostly likely already have damage on it through poison switching on your own wall Weezing. The only 2 really decks you have to intelligently play around are Gengar/ Weez stall decks and Marowak decks. As they usually Stomp Weez pretty hard when online and you’ll need good deck draws to rush both your Zam but also be in the point positive position where you can counter after Wak kills ur Zam as it will not 1 shot it even with Gio and x4 80Dmg coin flips are likely to kill you. Though play the odds and let fate take the wheel on that one. Ultimately Alakazam can go toe to toe with any deck with even decent luck. For me i use x2 Abra x2 Kadabra x2 Alakazam x2 Koffing x2 Weezing x1 Meowth or Mew (depending on how im feeling; i absolutely 100% agree with the idea Amber would theoretically be better use of the slot although..Yolo) x2 Koga x2 Sabrina (i can see an argument running x1 Sab and x2 Gio, I mostly tend to use Sab as a stall method on the first 1-3 turns having the enemy scramble their Mewtwos or Articunos as it slows their energy progression and/or burns Xspeed and gives you time to setup.) x2 Oak x1 Gio x2 Pokeball
Out of all the decks, iv gone up against this God damn one is really something else. Even my dragonnite deck has a hard time against this build. It's a real powerhouse frfr 😂
You do NOT have to spend money like he does. He is a good youtube with content and such, but he gets write-offs. He can write if off as a business expense for his channel. It is an investment for him. If you don't have the money, do NOT spend it. Packs are 100 percent addicting to open. It is all gambling (considering the animations when opening are skippable and packs are predetermined). Ps. Great content, and I have sent this channel to other players to watch and like. 🔥😎
The deck is great and consistent, but Pikachu can't be the best card with damage reliant on the bench. Even though Starmie is stage 1 it's more consistent overall and damage comes online instantly nearly every time. I think Starmie is a better version of Pikachu honestly
I run pika ex dex too but I have to ask, isn't starmie ex just about as good? sure it's a stage 1 but its got free retrieve cost plus its consistently do 90 without having to set up a full bench
This is the one card I cannot pull for some reason. I’ve pulled pretty much every other EX. All I’m pulling is Pikachu sets and it’s starting to get to me XD
The Mewtwo energy question in the chat and someone telling him to report it is so funny. Of course it’s not discarding energy because Dugtrio blocks all effects of attacks…. That’s not a bug.
I’m not super convinced with electrode and zebstriker. I think magneton is pretty solid as it allows you to break energy economy. And have a scary back up if your opponent goes for a Sabrina.
maybe because that 10 point matters? combine with gio, you can land 80 point of damage in second turn, youre supposed to play electrode aggresively in first couple turn.. after that let pika do the rest,,
i want ask about premium pass, i am f2p player and still not use free premium pass, my question is should i use my free premium pass or just wait for next premium pass?
I think we are already starting to see the slow decline of the l Pikachu ex deck. With the release of the new Promo Mankey card, people are experimenting more fighting type decks. And since pikachu only has 120 HP it can be easy to KO sometimes, especially with the help of Giovanni. And not only that, sometimes you can't get a full bench, meaning you can only do 60 or even only 30 damage sometimes. There can be multiple turns where you go without drawing andingle basic pokemon card. And the problem with running more basic pokemon is that there is a higher chance you wont draw Pikachu ex in your starting hand. This means that you have to either pick between powering up the first Basic pokemon you drew, or play catch-up and power up the Pikachu ex mid-late game. The problem with powering up Pikachu ex mid to late game is that, by that time, your opponent has already powered up their pokemon or your other basic pokemon that you used as a meat shield is already KO'd. Meaning that it Pikachu ex won't have enough bench pokemon to do that 90 damage anymore. And lets be honest, most of the time 90 damage isn't that good anymore by late game standards where you have Mewtwo ex swinging for 150, Charizard swinging for 200, Venusaur ex swinging for 100 - and then healing 50 HP when he already has 190 HP. Couple that with the fact that this deck has no way to generate quick energy, it's not that good late game.. when you open a good hand it can feel good. But if you're opponent also opens a good hand, it's kinda bad for you. Because they can one shot Pikachu ex and another pokemon in roughly three or four turns. Whereas Pikachu needs at least four or five turns to KO high HP pokemon like Lapras (promo), Articuno ex, Ivysaur/Venuasaur ex, Charizard ex, Mewtwo ex, etc.
They're both on par, but I like pikachu deck more. It can take too much time for mewtwo to get online against 2 energy for up to 90 damage. Mileage may vary though because sometimes the pikachu deck doesn't draw enough to fill up bench and then it can suffer greatly with some draws.
I been using weezing/Kazan and it’s been destroying lol. Stal and chip dmg with weezing “ dark energy included” then start nuking with kizam. One shots entire meta besides starmie, but gio fixes that.
I think my problem is I only have one Pikachu EX and not enough money to Whale to get another, OR Zapdos lol. I have also liked using Jolteon as a replacement for them though, the coinflips are rough but it can do a lot of damage and usually gets at least 80 in
I’m gonna come out and say it, I think Zappos EX is a trap in this deck. When ever I play the mirror I’m very happy to go against it. I play a Raichu/LT Surge combo instead
Honestly I've been playing with both the mewtwo deck and the pikachu deck and also playimg against both decks, in my opinion the mewtwo beats the pikachu in my play experience
I was worried about this pvp event. Have done zero pvp battles since I have no meta decks. Been using my starter Marowak/Sandslash deck tweaked with different items and a Sabrina and it's wrecking Pika and Mewtwo decks so far.
nah neither pikavhu ex nor misty are top cards theyre close but no mewtwo ex is better than pikachu ex cause; 1. this game isnt played in a vacuum and you can run gardevoir support. pikachu dorsnt have support and DESPERATELY needs it, especially defensively. 2. mewtwo has far better power and hp. so that means no tradeoffs, youre knocking them out and they cant trade a ko for a ko which means you win. nothing else can do that more reliably nor csn they do it every turn like mewtwo can with garde. not starmie, pikachu, charizard, exeggutor, ect. nothing. 3. starmie's better in a vacuum anyway. you have to evolve it but you get more hp, far more 90 power attack reliability, AND a free retreat cost. no contest. misty is a coin flip card which automatically drags it down to mid tier at BEST. POR, poke ball, and Sabrina are ALL far far superior trainers to run. sabrina can be used offensively AND defensively. sabrina wins more games than any other card.
while steel may not be meta, i have a lot of fun with my bisharp + melmetal deck, bisharp has great stats and melmetal is bulky but loses to pikachu&mewtwo decks >.
I use a 2 pika 1 zapdos zeb deck and it has been consistent and strong vs almost anything, only mewtwo decks that get gard set up fast and bring out two mewtwo in the first two turns have given me trouble oh and also sandslash destroys this deck fast.
Jolteon is a mini Zapdos, but depending on your cards you're better with something else for example Pinchurchins or Magnetons. If you have 2x Pikachu 2X Raichu and 1x or 2x LT.Surge you have a good combo already.
I feel like my luck in this game an having all the good cards either at the bottom or all the cards I need to evolve are at the bottom game hates me lol

For me i use
x2 Abra
x2 Kadabra
x2 Alakazam
x2 Koffing
x2 Weezing
x1 Meowth or Mew (depending on how im feeling; i absolutely 100% agree with the idea Amber would theoretically be better use of the slot although..Yolo)
x2 Koga
x2 Sabrina (i can see an argument running x1 Sab and x2 Gio, I mostly tend to use Sab as a stall method on the first 1-3 turns having the enemy scramble their Mewtwos or Articunos as it slows their energy progression and/or burns Xspeed and gives you time to setup.)
x2 Oak
x1 Gio
x2 Pokeball
The deck I’m running with is just no match for pikachu. I’m just glad 1 out 20 games I often see them run this deck.
Out of all the decks, iv gone up against this God damn one is really something else. Even my dragonnite deck has a hard time against this build. It's a real powerhouse frfr 😂
feels like that primeape rush deck at the very least can one tap the pikachu ex deck, so at least it has a counter
sort of lol
Did you try out the version with LT surge & Raichu + Magneton?
I'm working on a colorless death and taxes style deck. Using Fearow for energy control and Persian/Red Card for hand control, with a WigglyEX finisher
Have 2 ex zapdos and 2 ex pikachus in my Buzz Buzz deck. Its so good.
Best substitution for Zapdos ex if you don't have it yet?
Voltorb? Pincurchin? Literally ANY basic lightning type card. You're just filling the bench
Me one-shotting Pikachu with Primeape every game
So they have to be all elctro cards for it to work?
The deck is great and consistent, but Pikachu can't be the best card with damage reliant on the bench. Even though Starmie is stage 1 it's more consistent overall and damage comes online instantly nearly every time. I think Starmie is a better version of Pikachu honestly
@@KrystalWolf24 Fr starmie is busted, the only reason its isnt as popular is because it gets countered by pikachu which is really popular rn
I run pika ex dex too but I have to ask, isn't starmie ex just about as good? sure it's a stage 1 but its got free retrieve cost plus its consistently do 90 without having to set up a full bench
The same happened to me, 4 psy energy Mewtwo, no Gardevoir, Mewtwo hit me with his strongest attack, still kept the energy
How are you showing your deck list the way you are? I’d like an easier way to share my lists with friends.
And have a scary back up if your opponent goes for a Sabrina.
maybe because that 10 point matters? combine with gio, you can land 80 point of damage in second turn, youre supposed to play electrode aggresively in first couple turn.. after that let pika do the rest,,
Have you try tynamo/electrik 1 mana damage also
Muk Weezing Hypno deck kinda fun.
But only run dark energy keep hypno on bench for sleep cheese.
shruggz dropped the ball not swapping pika out an 10hp zap in easy win right there.
i want ask about premium pass, i am f2p player and still not use free premium pass, my question is should i use my free premium pass or just wait for next premium pass?
Yeah, judging by recent tournaments results, pikachu is definetly the best deck in the game
Whereas Pikachu needs at least four or five turns to KO high HP pokemon like Lapras (promo), Articuno ex, Ivysaur/Venuasaur ex, Charizard ex, Mewtwo ex, etc.
i play the pika ex deck with magneton and raichu in combination with major bob this is my deck with the highest win rate.
Is there a world where you do the Voltob line and the Zebstrika line, but no Zapdos?
Zebstrika is such a fun name to say
Me who has been pulling Pikachu packs the entire time and still dont have Pikachu EX 👁️👄👁️
How did u get the pikachu profile icon?
I m currently playing w one voltorbe/electrode + 1 blitzle/zeb...it runs pretty well anyway
Is this deck better than mewtwo deck?
They're both on par, but I like pikachu deck more. It can take too much time for mewtwo to get online against 2 energy for up to 90 damage. Mileage may vary though because sometimes the pikachu deck doesn't draw enough to fill up bench and then it can suffer greatly with some draws.
I been using weezing/Kazan and it’s been destroying lol. Stal and chip dmg with weezing “ dark energy included” then start nuking with kizam. One shots entire meta besides starmie, but gio fixes that.
-edit don’t use x speeds cause you have koga, save room for double koga and sabrina.
Pikachu & raichu, and starmie & greninja and my faroutire decks for far. Really wanna try dragonite but need the cards
No video on the new event? I'm surprised
Shh, over here Spragels 🕴🏿
I may have found a viable troll deck.
I’m running it with Zebstrika to snipe 60hp basics on the bench
I think my problem is I only have one Pikachu EX and not enough money to Whale to get another, OR Zapdos lol. I have also liked using Jolteon as a replacement for them though, the coinflips are rough but it can do a lot of damage and usually gets at least 80 in
I’m gonna come out and say it, I think Zappos EX is a trap in this deck. When ever I play the mirror I’m very happy to go against it. I play a Raichu/LT Surge combo instead
can you make think up a pidgeot deck?
Honestly I've been playing with both the mewtwo deck and the pikachu deck and also playimg against both decks, in my opinion the mewtwo beats the pikachu in my play experience
I was worried about this pvp event. Have done zero pvp battles since I have no meta decks. Been using my starter Marowak/Sandslash deck tweaked with different items and a Sabrina and it's wrecking Pika and Mewtwo decks so far.
Me seeing this 9 days later... "Well you don't say..."
Pikachu is definitely the best pokemon in the game but the best card is misty, misty is so broken
nah neither pikavhu ex nor misty are top cards
theyre close but no
mewtwo ex is better than pikachu ex cause;
1. this game isnt played in a vacuum and you can run gardevoir support. pikachu dorsnt have support and DESPERATELY needs it, especially defensively.
2. mewtwo has far better power and hp. so that means no tradeoffs, youre knocking them out and they cant trade a ko for a ko which means you win. nothing else can do that more reliably nor csn they do it every turn like mewtwo can with garde. not starmie, pikachu, charizard, exeggutor, ect. nothing.
3. starmie's better in a vacuum anyway. you have to evolve it but you get more hp, far more 90 power attack reliability, AND a free retreat cost. no contest.
misty is a coin flip card which automatically drags it down to mid tier at BEST.
Got lucky and got one .. put it on an experimental deck ... opponent conceded
Do you know of a discord for TCGP players? Just looking to add new friends on my game
My Ninetails + Blaine begs to differ
I use a 2 pika 1 zapdos zeb deck and it has been consistent and strong vs almost anything, only mewtwo decks that get gard set up fast and bring out two mewtwo in the first two turns have given me trouble oh and also sandslash destroys this deck fast.
Been trying so hard to pull this, I got 2 blastoise ex, 3 full art squirtle, and 3 Zapdos ex still no pikachu 😂
I've been trying to pull it since I started. I WANT IT SO I CAN START PICKING OTHER PACKS 😭
I enjoy pikachu ex with jolteon deck
is there anything that can replace the zapdos ex? still havent pulled any :c
Jolteon is a mini Zapdos, but depending on your cards you're better with something else for example Pinchurchins or Magnetons. If you have 2x Pikachu 2X Raichu and 1x or 2x LT.Surge you have a good combo already.
@@KnightOfCarim2 I have 2 pikas, 1 raichu ;n;, 2 Surges, like 10 magnetons and pinuchins or whatever, thank you for the suggestion! ♥
You have to fill your bench to do what starmie ex can do without relying on anything I don't think it's the best card
and don't even get me start on the health and retreat costs
Best deck is 100% Pika EX it is just so fast and hard to deal with
I use Eelektross cause I like it 😂
First to comment! Love ur content and ur vid got me into ptcgp! Keep it up bro!
Not abt pikachu but im looking for gardevoir and i cant stop pulling EX like crazy (2 a day still no garde)
Anyone knows the name of the posters in the back of his cam? Johnto, Sinnoh etc.
It'd be nice to pull one
If you can control mewtwo ex deck and pilot it it easily beats Pikachu ex
Marowak ex deck dunks on this deck
Starmie has the same damage and energy requirements but more health
If you dont have zapdoses try raichu magneton
89% RNG
11% Skill
HAHA I GOT PIKACHU AND MEWTWO WHEN I DOWNLOADED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME 😝
I still confuse what should i put alongside my pikachu ex
2x pikachu 2x raichu 2x lt surge
I just jot a god packs with gold charizard and a full art charmander😎😫
can somebody explain this card to me? i have two pokémon on my bench and pikachu ex does 120 damage to me. it should be 60 right?
I can't seem to pull him. The Pikachu packs are killing me
I feel like my luck in this game an having all the good cards either at the bottom or all the cards I need to evolve are at the bottom game hates me lol
the blain deck player made such a huge mistake, if he would have saved blain he would have an easy GG. this game is so basic and player still manage to do many mistakes xD
I beat people with mewtwo teams and pikachu teams with my fighting type team i made
