    Yeah just be careful on the road, that tractor isn't much bigger than most lawn mowers, if that wagon gets to swaying you'd be in for a scary ride! But it sure is handy for getting close to the blower!

      Now we can't go doing everything at once, gotta leave something for next year.

    • @MrMagnum7220
      @MrMagnum7220 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be an assembly on both sides of the cutter head where it pulls the shear bar back to the knives and another that might hold down the shear bar. Knives need to be moving to adjust. You slowly move the shear bar till it taps the knives then move it back away from them.

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maneuverability. The TC is narrow, which makes pulling up to the blower very easy.

  • @limestonehilldairy5739
    @limestonehilldairy5739 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why a new holland blower? We had a John Deere 66 for a many of years and the best thing about that is we could unload a 16’ wagon in about 3 minutes but with the Deere if it went in in chunks it went up in chunks it’d really test your motor and how many horses you had in front of it.

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because there is nothing else for silage equipment around. I guess next year I could really let the blower have it and dump the silage out faster to show the greatness of the whirl a feed.

    • @limestonehilldairy5739
      @limestonehilldairy5739 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boehm Farm yeah you should try it just never was impressed with them the neighbours ran his on a 1466 and it’d send up the feed but it was a 150 horse tractor I ran grandpas old 66 John Deere with dads 2940 and it’d blow just as fast

    don't you hate when net wrap gets frozen to the ground so then the bale falls apart on the way to the round bale feeder. or worse when you pick up a old bale and suddenly there's 10,000 yellow jackets in your face.

    How is your corn so green at this time of year? Did you plant real late for chopping?

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was October 7. We planted it around June 15 and the variety stays green well.

    • @conortimm733
      @conortimm733 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah I see. So it was a little earlier then the post, but June 15th is pretty late when it comes to corn so it isn't surprising it is that green yet

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We usually plant silage corn at that time because we have sweet corn to pick and I go crazy making hay into the fall, so we chop silage late. And dad doesn't like making silage when it's hot. Often weh go from chopping silage direct to cutting beans.

    • @conortimm733
      @conortimm733 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes of course. Makes sense because of how things work out especially if you guys have a big sweet corn operation with only you to pick it. We usually just plant an acre for ourselves and might throw some in for the farmers market every now and again if we have surplus but usually the deer eat it

    Agree with previous comments , running that little tractor with those silage wagons doesn't look like a smart idea...you have other tractors? Why use your lawn mower?

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah.... tell the too small tractor thing to all those guys who turned up the pump on their 86 series.
      It is so much easier to pull wagons up to the blower with it. And it's all physics and friction to make it back on the road.
