Great Video, I worked for Mathews from 1974 to 1987 as a welder and we built 1000s of them. The chopper we built had a chute to blow Hay into your wagon. Similar, but not the same machine. Nice to see this old machine, brings back memories!!!! These things were built to last. The company mato was IRON HORSE QUALITY. Thanks for the video 👍
So we had new idea mowers like that years ago the early ones we had had s chain like that one and you'll want to carry your oil can with you in the feild to keep it lubed the last one we had had a belt and it was an awesome mower downed had and cutting corn fodder wad were it shined. Glad to see you making use of a machine like this!
Is this the original idea of a disk mower conditioner but way back in the day? I’ve never seen anything like that, was honestly surprised how well it cuts
These were made in all kinds of variations as Jacob said some had a spout for filling a wagon. They were built like this one with the cutter knives others had links of chains all of them were wicked . They worked very good on corn stalks after the ear corn was picked as the stalks were dry and would shatter.
We had one of those machines we used it as our hay mower those things were so hard to sharpen then always something broke we went back to the sickle bar mowers ours was a new idea
Because with the cutting cups spinning forward and up it lifts stuff up and cuts it and then slings it up over the top on the underside of that hood and then shoots it out the back... the cutter part is spinning backwards to the direction of travel...
Mathew rotary synth run them things like you stole it with a 100 hp tractor and try to keep it out of the dirt and thay do a good job but you cant baby them

You and Bandit are a dangerous combination!
Great to see you collabing with Bandit, I haven't seen any of his videos in a while.

Was hoping to see the inside of that mower after all the work. It's amazing how old equipment cleans itself just from a bit of use.
I used to mow hay with that 40 yrs ago, was awesome back than.
Great awesome video. I like when Jacob gets all excited when he gets a newer toy to play with
Bandit has all the cool toys.
The perfect machine for that job!
Hello Jacob, Bandit nice old machine . Have a good day
Nice! Enjoyed your video fellas.
Bandit is finally on a good tractor 😁
Looks like the right tool for the job of taking down tall rye cover crop.
Nice to see all that rust still working.
Looks like a cutditioner by new idea. They were a multi use machine l like the way the knives are changed. Better than new idea
I was thinking the same thing.
i think for what it is its done realy well
That's pretty awesome. That and a stage baler and wrapper would make some great feed
Yes! The video I have been waiting for since you posted in your IG.
Just two old Boys have fun on the farm
They actually made something very similar for stalks for potatoes. We used it for cutting stalks up after the husker went through on corn.
Cool machine
You’ll do anything to avoid getting a discbine, this looks perfect for that job though!
The dynamic duo.
Good video.

Thanks for taking shrapnel to get the shots.
Good stuff
My great aunt and uncle had one of those, they used it for first cutting hay if it was super heavy.of course that was 25 years ago. 👍
That thing works good, never seen one.
Whaoo whaoo Bandit on a Ford... that is so awesome, watch me he is going to sell the Long and buy a 6610
He would never sell the Long! Lol
I guess so, just a friendly joke lol@@SmallMartingale

Mann! I wish I could get somebody to give me equipment like that!
Looks almost like a flail chopper the way it works.
Interesting
I remember when they first came out we had a new idea cutditioner
those are some serious whether check tires lol
What are your plans with it? Silage?
Video will be up very soon.
How many horsepower tractor? Will a 50hp ford diesel run one?
60. You might not be able to go as fast.
Jacob, not being a farmer, there are things I don't understand. How come the machine pushes the grasses down horizontal before cutting it off?
Mostly just shielding and safety.

@@lukestrawwalker oh. Thanks for this. Helps to understand. I also rewatched it with the information you gave me and it made a lot more sense.
Wow, 2 towns away from me.
Crystal Lake, IL that is.
👍👌❤️🇨🇦,

Am not so sure about this rotary scythe. My guess is the rig that blows corn into a trailer is better.
Whatever happened to your other friend? The big guy that chewed tobacco. He was in a lot of your videos.
He found himself in legal trouble.
@@boehmfarm4276 sorry to hear that. Hope he’ll be ok.
Round bale it
