i like very much the recorded example! This is best way to examine the quality... clean voice and recorded amp. Best advertising with extra fun factor. Thank you very much!
going forward for larger mic counts one will need the 12 mic units with either UFX III , or a choice of DIGIFACE AVB or Dante a fabulous albeit expensive option
How does the sound of the UCX II compare to your ADI-2 DAC? I have an ADI-2FS with my FF 800 running and want to upgrade for a small Setup for Outboard Mixing. Sound quality is what I want. I wonder how MK5 sounds with Steady Clock FS which is a very good Clock!!!
I have a funny comment I listened to this recording before on another interface ...and thought it sounded quite good but sort of Meh...But now I just hooked up my Babyface Pro FS and now this recording is magic...It really helps to play back with gear which shares the same magical "genetics"as it was recorded with..amazing
I no longer have the unit in front of me, but I do think some of the parameters were adjustable without a DAW/Computer, but some pre-setup may be necessary.
So I am trying out a UFX iii at this moment. I plug a bass into channel 9 on the front panel and I can see the incoming signal but so far haven’t been able to hear or monitor any sound from either of the front inputs. I’m setup in Standalone mode. Also I am not seeing any metering happening on the display screen of the unit itself. I can’t determine if it is something I am overlooking or if it is defective gear. Thanks for posting.
Sounds like a routing/monitoring issue. If you can, I would connect it to your computer and make sure that that input is being monitored in the main outs or headphone outs in Total mix. Unfortunately, I don't have the unit installed anymore. Have you tried RME Tech support?
@@RecordingMag ok I’ll give it another shot in stand-alone later today. I got thing working ok now outside of stand-alone mode connected to the computer. I’m almost certain it was something I was overlooking not being totally familiar with the prescribed operation of the unit altogether. Thank you much for the response. I will follow up when I get the desired result…😎👍🏾
@@danielweiss4498 I have my Multiface II at home now and it’s rock solid. The new unit is great as well. Do I notice a huge difference? I really don’t. The mic pres on the new unit aren’t bad, I’ve used them a handful of times and was very pleased with the results.
You need to boot into recovery and disable a security setting in order to enable kernel extensions for the driver to work. RME is working on a new driver to bypass this.
hello i have a ucx2 rmx on windows 11 i have a problem if i try to vary the buffer size the sound in my daw studio one 5 deteriorates if i try to fiddle with the windows sound settings it resolves but if i turn off the pc and turn on the problem come back .. . can you help me thanks.
note sure but something is weird in your recording.. is it from the interface or processing? or digital distortion.. anyway weird.. or is it my dac.. not sure or crappy windows
at the 7 minute mark i can clearly hear very high pitched artifacts/noise on the vocals. I´m pretty sure older folks can´t hear it. No idea where this comes from. Screechy, high freq distortion.
Absolutely! I wanted to go with the UAD Apollo x4 but something didn’t feel right about it. I wasn’t cool with the fact that you need to rely on your interface DSP for plugins which makes it less portable and unusable with other interfaces unless you use ADAT, second of all if you pay for a UAD you would have to pay double the price of the actual unit let me explain. So think of it like this…the price of an Apollo x4 (the hardware) which is about $2,200 USD convert that to were you’re from.. add that with with the Thunderbolt cable you would need to buy because they don’t provide one and then add that with the absurd cost of the amount of plugins you would need to purchase to actually make music/streaming/podcasting…that will be your “official” price. Not worth it! if ask me. Also RME is consistent with its pricing despite the inflation cause by the pandemic and chip shortages, UAD Keeps increasing its price due to inflation! Get the RME UCX ii…the drivers could last you 3 to 4 decades or more, latency is “😩😙🤌🏾” magnificent, Class compliant iOS/Android and more, Jitter Immunity this in all sample rates and great for PC/MAC at all levels! Though one thing I like more on UAD is the software but that’s about it, you will get used to Total Mix its great too once you learn it. It also comes with its own compressor, EQ and all not as good as UAD but you can manage with Plugin Alliance, Waves (etc) anyway. So if it were me I would go for the RME Fireface UCX ii all day anyway! And remember Thunderbolt 3 doesn’t really make a difference in latency it’s the drivers and you computer. If you want to be a clout chaser…go with UAD, be like every TH-camr…but if you want to be a pioneer go for the Fireface you won’t regret it buddy trust me its the cheaper interface and the better interface that will last you not only years but DECADES!!
@@tuneunleashed Thanks for sharing your opinion & for the info. I agree with you - I think UAD makes sense if you're running a professional studio, as some of my friends do. Otherwise, the Fireface UCXii looks like a good choice in the price range of cheaper UAD. I'm looking for a new interface; at the moment I'm primarily using virtual instruments, with some outboard gear & synths alongside. For my needs I've realised i need low latency performance. I've heared that the Presonus Quantum interfaces have incredible low latency performance, I wonder what the differences would be between those & UCXii
How do you think the converters and pres compare to the new Apollo X? I loved my Apollo MKII but it died and I got insurance money for it. I never record more than two tracks at at a time, and I use 2 Chandler germanium rack mount pres a lot of the time. I loved my Apollo Twin MKII, and I’ve heard the X stuff sounds even better, but I WOULD love to have ACTUAL line level inputs that aren’t technically still running through the onboard pres. If you were me, Would you get the UCX II over the Apollo X Twin so I can have true line level inputs even if I really like my Apollo? Thanks!!!
5:52 Speak for yourself. As far as I'm concerned sound quality these days is a wash. The bottom line for me is low-latency performance under load, and this is where RME comes out on top.
She has a fantastic voice.
The total mix beginners guide isn’t great - would love to get your detailed take on total mix in a future video!

the new preamps and FS tech really make a clarity difference. from even the UFX+ unit
Great review, song and device. Thanks!

What is the dynamic range of the inputs?
I am trying to decide between this and the yamaha dm3d both have pluses and minuses
Groovy music.
I wonder which one sound better: UCX II or Motu Ultralite MK 5?

8:41. So is it posible to edit the audio? Copy, paste, etc?
I have the RME Multi face 2 and am considering to upgrade. did you notice a difference in the sound quality?
So, you can adjust all the reverb and delay parameters with that knob in a dawless setup?

Hey! how is it playback sounds compare old ucx+adi2 pro?
Too bad they dropped the extra midi bus , now it only has 1 midi in-out
The previous fireface uc had 2 busses
Looking to upgrade from my RME Multiface II
I presume this would be a step up. Why does this unit not have rack ears?
Steady Clock FS on its own is a huge sound upgrade
You can buy optional rack ears from RME/dealers.

RME's great, but this video made me realize I hate jazz music. Those vocals are atrocious
