My general opinion: If the song isnt good it needs fireworks on stage.. If a song is magical it doesnt need anything else
if there are too many other things around the singer, it will shadow this meaningful song. important is lightning and camera work
You guys urgently need an update about Italian fashion. Mahmood's shirts are created by one the most intriguing Italian designers of the moment who works for a young Milanese fashion label. But music is his first priority, obviously. Probably an individualistic guy like him does not fit in well here. But Netta and Salvador didn't either. So maybe that's exactly what Eurovision needs nowadays? ;)

I'm not Italian and I think they're overreacting too. This is my favourite entry of the year and the rehearsal wasn't too bad, the problems I see with it are minor. Honestly, this could have a bad staging (which I don't think it does) and still finish _at least_ in the top 5 or even win, just my opinion.
@@frisouille02 non apprezzano lo staging (in particolare la coreografia e la carenza di energia di Mahmood). Vocalmente deludente (?????) e avrebbero preferito che fosse vestito in maniera fighetta (Dolce&Gabbana, ecc...).
Questo è in super sintesi quello che hanno detto... Personalmente mi trovo d'accordo al massimo sulla questione della coreografia:
l'energia e la voce non sono al top solo per via della malattia e per quanto riguarda il guardaroba penso che un vestito elegante non si adatti alla personalità di Mahmood...

I think this is miles ahead of Russia, Switzerland and Sweden. Just for one huge reason in my opinion. This still feels like it has soul, grit and passion . Whereas the others I mentioned all for me fail on at least 2 of those factors. Again imo. You have to look hard to find some critiques this year granted but I think that's fair
Don't forget that basically is a song contest not a stage contest or an outfit contest! After all Conchita Wurst and Salvador Sobral had no kind of staging at all!
they may not have had major staging but they had stage presence. Mahmood is not quite there but Im sure come the final all the issues will be worked out

@@kaitlinb4110 Disagree. When I watched his performance in 2017 he was mesmerising. He had stage presence. Its not always about loud personalities some project vulnerable, delicate and/or unique personas. As I said Mahmood is not quite there but he will be since he has 1 week to get over his illness. He just needs rest. The staging is also almost there just needs a few tweaks.
we shouldn't worry. this staging is better than last years and they came 4th. Marco Mengoni did his 2nd rehearsal in street clothes in 2013 and then rocked that suit! its not the mess Francesco had to deal with. Its a massive stage, with big screens, everyone is upping their games or trying new stuff. I don't think Mahmood will disappoint come the semi finals, 99% of people watching will be seeing it for the first time, as usual its about camera choices on the night

About the shirt I think in 2 years everybody will wear it......... italian fashion is ahead, for the dancers I think they had just to get some confidence with the stage. The song is what really matter..... and to tell you the truth, Russia apart, not even your favourite dutch guy had an excellent staging for his mass song aaaaooooaaaa and a false piano. Lol:-)
please stop with the idea that those who have the most spectacular scenery should win. is it or is it not a song festival? let's hear and UNDERSTAND the songs, WITH EYES CLOSED!
I agree but at the end of the day it's an entertainment show and a bland song with great staging will always be more memorable to voting public after 26 songs at the end of the night than a great song not staged great. It still is a huge factor
Tell that to the artist that use English text on the LED SCREEN. so people will understand what he is singing about.

The power is in his words and that is what you are missing . An overdecorated stage would simply destroy the message he wants to show . So stop thinking of him as if he was a pop star that didnt impressed you with his dancing and performing skills
The first rehearsals of the automatic qualifiers are always so hard to judge because they come after two days of the second rehearsals, where all the semi-finalists have upped their game. This is where all the automatic qualifiers go away and figure out what needs to be improved.
I hope so much they have watched your reaction video and work very hard to become a winner contender again.

Outfit is not official, since he had to wear a shirt with high neck to protect his throat. He hasn’t recovered from his illness 100% but still the vocals were not as bad as a lot of people say. We are all sure that the second rehearsal and grand final will be completely different and way better than this, we just have to be patient 🔥

I think he should wear that Prada white Overall. And the dancers in total Black. Vocally he was perfect. WINNER
This is my number 1 song wise but the staging is fairly disappointing. From my perspective it seems like he (sadly) just does not care about Eurovision as much as other artists this year and put his own tour, etc. before rehearsing for the actual show (which I can't blame him for if that's just what he enjoys more and where his priorities lie) now again this is pure speculation and just what it looks like from what I've seen of him on social media, in interviews,... Still wish him the best of luck and love the song (and his music in general)
As an italian, I agree. He doesn't seem to care much, sadly. Well maybe he cares but he puts other things as his priority first

This is a frank opinion, there are a lot of things that need to be fixed. It wasn't that disater it seemed reading the very first comments, but we need a wow somewhere.
Not really a fan of the english translations on the led, seems a bit cheesey.
I agree, either you sing on your language and risk not being understood, but keep the authenticity, or you choose English. They did the same trick last year and I didn't like it.

@@buddenbrooks there will be translation of lyrics in tv anyway. and when i saw San Remo , i immediately translated myself the lyrics cos the sound was so interesting. at least i do always like this, when i hear a song i like. so these big lyrics on the screen are not nice to look.

Last year everyone underrated Italy and was disappointed by their staging, but they still came 3rd in the televote. I still believe this will be top ten, even if it doesn’t win

I think they should keep it a bit simpler and put something up on the screen that gets the crowd super emotional, because the song is incredibly emotional.

In my personal opinion, I think this was a good rehearsal, at least judging from the short Eurovision clip. And btw, I am not Italian, so I swear I am not biased.
Would be great if the kid from the video came onto the stage during the song.
Your harsh criticism was a little disappointing. First as you said it yourself Mahmood was ill so he couldn't be perfect. The rehearsal was about his song and not about his shirt. The choreography can be improved but the dancers are there to support Mahmood and not to steal his show. The second rehearsal was much better and I expect a top position for Mahmood.

I really like Mahmood, but he doesn't seem want to win Eurovision... I don’t know it’s just how I feel when I look at him.
He is sick. I'd look 'pissed off' too if I had to rehearse with fever and a sore throat.
I feel like that every year Italy doesn't really care about staging, more like that Sanremo winners are always touring and promoting stuff in Italy than thinking about Eurovision.

@@kristynak.2046 That's because, unlike some acts, representatives of bigger countries take care more of their home market, because it's more lucrative. Eurovision doesn't grant you much glory after the show, unless you are the winner.

I don't understand. The title is "Italy First rehearsal" …….and then you talk about outfits, dancers, staging .......... but it's a song contest or a stage contest ??? Because if it's the second choice, the ESC hasn't meaning to exist. Criticize his vocal style, criticize him for being on stage (constructive criticism) ...... but don't criticize the stage because it's an end in itself. Clear is that those who have more money to spend have more chances to create stages that leave you speechless (see Russia, Azerbaijan .... to say 2 at random) ....... but the fireworks don't will never make a beautiful song if it is ugly. Sorry but I'm Italian and I'm not angry at wiwi guys (even if they're not completely fair) but rather at Mahmood that clearly doesn't care, his stage director, Rai in general for not giving 2 fucks. We don't deserve to win this contest until somebody actually CARES besides the (fairly small?) fandom.
I think this is going to need a whole new reworking second rehearsal will be much much better this is contained about year it may not be the winner that we all expecting
Thanks for your honest opinion about Mahmood's first Eurovision's rehearsal, I thought the same thing too after watching his rehearsal.. Saying each one's opinion if there is something wrong is very important, a very constructive and intelligent anotation from you guys. I know we are counting on him to win because of his good and strong quality and it's needs only a little fix while there is still time before the final. Mahmood's vocals never were strong even in San Remo. And he wasn't the televoters favorite. I didn't like Soldi back then and it hasn't grown in me even after all these months.
