hilly kloosterman You can calculate all the points that are going to be being given during the televote, and he just subtracts the given scores every time someone recieves so that he in the end saw there were only 93 points left for Sweden

Norway winning the televote was surprising but absolutely deserved! Also, very interesting that we have another winner that won neither the jury or the televote, and Sergey came third again. Like a repeat of 2016😂
The reveal of Norway's televote points was one of my favorite parts of the contest!

If Italy had a slightly better staging, they could have won! The song carried itself. In any case, so happy for Mahmood.
im still so proud of him even though his odds fell in the bookies, that his song and voice connected so welll with an audience outside of the eurovision bubble. shows that there was a reason the esc fans fell in love with soldi when it came out. a lot of them forgot later on, but mahmood absolutely gave a great performance, and while i think they couldve done more with the staging, their vision came together in the end and italy should be so proud of their result!
Mahmoud should have won .it was a very expressive upbeat and yet important song of an abandoned boy-much better than the narcisstic Dutch

Seagull Livingstone Soldi was amazing, however Duncan wrote the song hisself. It also had a message and he sung it with his hart. I loved them both and Duncan really deserved it :)

I want to say - I really appreciate Kate Miller-Heidke! Zero Gravity is an original piece of art and 9th place out of 41 in a very competitive year is very good. Don't let the bookies disappoint you.

Kate should be really happy. 7th with the televote and 6th with the juries for an overall 9th place. I think it does put to bed that Australia is cursed with europeans not voting for Australia. All it indicates now is Australia need to bring top notch songs like this every year and the public will go for it. Bring on 2020 in The Netherlands

@@Nutzername92a i mean the current system creates suspence and makes for good tv so i kinda like it, it kinda draws the viewer into the competition but it's difficult to see people get little points. i mean, today was harsh for some countries
I agree. I felt bad for Michela. She was one of my favorites! Kudos to Tamara for doing so well with the jury vote. She was in my Top 5 going into the final, and I was getting used to the idea of her winning it all by the end of the jury vote. Tamara and her country should be very proud indeed!
NitzanTries the previous cumulative Public vote did plenty to create suspense - -all you knew was that the later they were announced the more points they would get, but would it be enough to clinch it? This year’s system was distasteful to show their hopes destroyed live on camera

That's the problem with this system, it is possible to work out how many points are left. We knew there were not enough for Sweden as soon as the Netherlands score was announced. Worse than the guy who shouted out 93 were the announcers, were were falsely trying to get us to think that Sweden might get 253 points. TV fakery.
@@Fatima502 it was painful, I wasn't calculating it but I knew there was no way Sweden could have got 253 points after all the other high scores that had been given out! And they just kept it going😭 Poor Duncan & John looked like they were about to throw up...

Danny62 you could do the same in the old system either, anyhow you know the total amount of points available. The same situation happened in 2016 where it slowly became clear that Russia wasn’t going to surpass Ukraine even if it had won the televote.

You just have to add all the points and subtract it from the total number of points possible (fixed number)

Agree. Mahmood and Tamara were BIG winners, since the winner had already been chosen.
I actually think the opposite. The Commentators saying "this is the favorite to win" is putting expectation on the song and it can be annoying. I don't know in others countries but in mine people generally don't like it when things seem to be set in stone already. If anything the Netherlands also suffered from the favorite spot, more than you would think. I personaly loved both italy and the Netherlands, though the Netherlands really took my heart. And honestly this Eurovision was very tough. A lot of great song and performances. Congrats to everyone for the great show!
@@FloodlightZhou Well, I found it irritating to know the winner in advance. As you say, this knowledge could have had the opposite effect. It may have put a lot of pressure on Duncan and a favourable or unfavourable view on televoters.
Nevertheless, he won as it was predicted.
I confess that I voted for Italy and not the Netherlands, first because I much preferred the Italian song. Secondly, because I was irritated with the pre-announced winner, who surely wouldn't need my vote.

Surprised at what I saw as a curveball. Australia was gaining the hype, but it didnt translate too well in the public vote. That shocked me.

UK 3 points. I felt sooo bad for Michael. The guy really sold that song. It’s so perplexing because if Sweden had the song, it probably would have made the top 5. I think it’s about time the UK pulled out and took a break.

Tamta going before Duncan definitely took away some of the attention from her, even though she rocked Tel Aviv and the crowd reaction was immense. The running order really hurt some of the better songs in the first half.

No it was not robbed of its victory. Yes it somehow won the televotes but the juries didnt serm to like it. Thats the way it goes. Netherlands and Italy did well in both and rightfully took top 2.

Starskreem82 The reason the juries didn’t like Norway is because the EBU screwed up in the jury rehearsal, and Norway didn’t get to perform again.
This new voting system was not good - a) it took the genuine tension out, and they had to drag out the end artificially b) Norway won the televote but they really didn’t get any recognition of it because they were buried in the early part of the results section. EBU please drop it for next year! Also address the massive discrepancy in Norway’s result! Time to rethink how the juries work?

Annoying? No, I wouldn't say annoying. The song really was good, and stuck in my head. I was wondering why it got 0 points from the people. It's just weird. I dunno.

You have to remember there are only 10 votes from each country (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, 10 and 12 points = makes10 votes in total) but there are 26 countries, so 16 countries get nothing each time and the german song wasn't good enough to be in the first 10 songs that gets votes.
@@MissMars2022 I was speaking that is wired that Germany got 0 points from the public televolting, not the jury voting.
@@thenin4e I am also talking about televote, cause it didn't get 0 from the Jurys. But the point system is still the same for the televote. It's not like nobody called for Germany. The most calls get 12 points, then 10, 8 and so on. So if Germany had 11th highest telephone calls it didn't get any points. because there is only 10 votes and not 11.

There's no problem coming last if you deserved to, Michael did not deserve last. I don't care what anyone says, The UK deserved better.. If anything, I'm now fearing the the UK will withdraw from Eurovision.. I hope I'm wrong, but I think I'm gonna be right on this one
Well. The song is decent, and I agree that there were a fe act that deserved lower. But if yoy compare Bigger Than Us with Too Late for Love, the difference is not in the song itself, but in the performance. John and the Mamas have chemistry, they have charisma and sass. They are compelling, and on top of that, they all sound AMAZING. Michael dont go through the camera, and his voice is much weaker. His backup singers, while competent enough, fells just like back up, whereas the Mamas are a true part of the show. Top that up with very flat stageing. Thats where the UK failed imo, and the performance just never grew.
Like I said, I dont think it deserved last, but it was never going to end up on the left side of the score board.
The approach of UK is totally unprofessional most of the years. The Big 5 (after more than 15 years) have not yet realized that not participating for real in the semis is "a losing game" for them.
I'm happy for Tamara and Mahmood. Big winners, since the winner had already been chosen.
Mahmood was SO close. Very happy for Tamara and Nth Macedonia (and for San Marino too) - best result in their competing history. Well done.

@@alex_gaimar That's the correct answer.^^ The voting was basicly over when Duncan's points were announced. The formula is: all points from one country (12+11+10+9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1), that's 78 points, times 44 countries (78*44). That makes 3432 points which can be awarded by the televote in total. As the points now come in, you just subtract along.

I am not happy. sadly. I didn't like Netherland, didn't like Sweden, didn't like Macedonia - I voted for different songs, but I am still happy for Norway. They had been so underrated by the jury, that was just weird. Macedonia so much overrated. ridiculous. sad, that it is not a different kind of song to win. something unique for the esc. what can you say. still happy, that Sweden didn't win. don't want to hear that one on radio the next weeks

@@eugferreira1101 my top pic and real love was for Australia (10x) then for Norway, Italy, Greece, Iceland. I love much more songs than these five. 2019 was a quite good year. but I didn't vote for all of them. I could have been happy for far more songs to win. I just don't like it, when average radio edit songs win, because they play them on the radio anyway. even if they reach 5th place. at least, that is what I observed in the past in Austria and Germany. I want to hear and see songs, I don't come across that easy and still like. songs that surprise me. or grow on me after hearing them 3 times. (e.g. Australia's first official video did irritate me. but then I listened to the text and fell in love. how often does that happen with such extraordinary songs when you hear the radio in your office playing the same kind of songs the whole day?)

Why exactly 'the real winners'? The difference in televote between Norway and The Netherlands wasn't that big, only 30 points. Maybe you're dissapointed because the jury didn't give a lot of points to Norway, but it's not like the televotes are more 'fair or real' than the jury, since the people at home gave for example san marino way too many points lol (no disrespect but that man can't sing) and Czech republic not enough, in my opinion. I just find it odd that people say 'Norway is the real winner' or 'Sweden is the real winner', since the difference with the winner is 30 and 8 points. Norway made it to top five with good vocals, which is great right? Norway lost from some good stages and vocals (top 4). You should only be salty if you lose from a chicken pokpok song in my opinion :')

Olivier Ducharme-F Sweden had a good old American gospel song but I never thought they would win. From the beginning I knew Duncan would take it home! It was a very well composed song! This was a very competitive year, lots of good songs, in the end I’m happy with the results!
