    Just what I was looking for! Thanks bro, jazaakallahu khayra. I hope the procedure is the same for the face lift version.

    There are two retaining plastic clips that have to be pressed together to remove the tail light on my 2009 Auris. These were in addition to the two screws.

    Thanks, this was super helpful. Thought I'd add something more that could help others. I removed and drained the light then heated it up with a heat gun to evaporate the water left behind. It looked good. I reinstalled the light on the car using some silicone around the seal to make sure it was water tight this time. About two hours later there was condensation inside the light again - you can't get the last bit out with just heat (compressed air would likely work but my compressor doesn't dry the air, so I was just shooting more water in, esp. with 90% humidity in Auckland atm). The trick I figured out used a piece of pipe, a rag and a vacuum cleaner. I used a surplus washing machine connector but maybe a length of garden hose would work? Take out one of the lights (indicator light seems best), insert the pipe into the light fitting, insert the other end into the vacuum cleaner pipe, turn it on then block up the vacuum cleaner pipe with the rag. This creates a vacuum and air flow inside the light housing. It took about 15 minutes to evaporate the condensation. I had to repeat the process 4 hours later when it recurred but there was less condensation this time. I'm guessing I'll be repeating a few times more but this saved the day, the light looks great now. Cheers

      Fellow Aucklander! I sorted this out by putting the light in a large cardboard box after draining as much water as I could manually. In the box was a hairdryer and an extra piece of cardboard so that the hairdryer was not blowing directly onto the light (to avoid any plastic melting or warping). Worked a treat in just 15 mins, but for it to work long-term you must let the box and light cool down itself before reinstalling. I put it in a small room with a dehumidifier running just to cover all bases. Worked a treat!

    Always on point 👍
    One other solution is using black butyl rope instead of gasket.
    You just place it where the gasket was including the clips of the tail light.
    Keep in mind that water can also leak from vents and bumper bracket clips.

      There r few options depending on the year of the car

  • @ashb8572
    @ashb8572 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This fix only lasts about a year, and then the problem returns. This is a design flaw as even when Toyota does a seal change, it fails again

      I've used silicone instead, 3 years counting and no water. Much better than this crap...
