There's quite the learning curve when working on bikes. I started wrenching for dollars out of my garage after 20 years of "tinkering." Now, after seven years of experience with customer machines, I've found a couple things to save sanity with multi cylinder projects. - the carbs are complex and take time to do thoroughly. Generally 8+ billable hours on a 4cyl. - always get new float valves and rubbers(bowl gasket, various o-rings etc) This will save you time and frustration ALWAYS. OH! avoid the cheap stuff😉 When wrenching for dollars, we never want "reworks. "...aka fix it again on your own dime and time. Love your guys' channel. Keep plugging. Continue to take on new projects and push your boundaries. Failing is learning.
Thanks for the info and advice. Seems the consensus that it doesn't run right without the airbox. I am reflexively skeptical about that, but hope it's the truth and will for sure try it.

I feel you on the fakeness. Haven’t had cable TV since 2003. Can’t stomach it. Don’t want to have a high tolerance for it either. And now we have the youth coming up in a world more digitized, and produced, and fake than ever, and developing terrible self esteem problems because none of it is obtainable... or even good to obtain. Our society is full of people contorting themselves and personalities to fit with what is shoved down their throats to be good consumers and voters. Very little emphasis on true, healthy, and balanced exploration and expression of their human nature. Ugh.
Just so you are aware, fuel pumps on these bikes aren’t like a normal pump. It only pumps or “pulses” every once and while at idle. As it gets up in the rpm’s, it’ll pulse more. It’s still a mostly gravity fed bike, the pumps only there for the ram air intakes. After 9-10k rpm’s or around 115-120 mph, gas doesn’t flow to all 4 carbs fast enough, and it’ll just suck the bowls dry. That’s why Honda threw a 2 psi pump on it, to help regulate gas flow.
@ I only know cause I’ve had a fuel pump issue with my bike, and spent hours on forums lol. I’m watching these to learn how to work on my bike, as 99% of the video on these bikes are 10 years old and horrible quality. Not sure if it's been mentioned or is worth mentioning, but a quick AI search about that fuel pump says it assists in fuel delivery under high demand, specifically when something called the Combustion Air Intake system comes into play. So perhaps it doesn't prime and run like a normal FI system would, but rather comes on at high RPM like Honda's VTEC systems?
