  • Schematic reading is one of the most important skills when working with complex hydraulic systems. We are going to spend a handful of videos looking at different sections of a typical system schematic, starting with the hydraulic power unit (HPU). In this video we talk about the schematic component symbols for a hydraulic pump, electric motor, various filters and heat exchangers, and a bunch of components associated with the hydraulic reservoir (or "hydraulic tank"). In future videos we'll look at actuators, valves, and more. We think you'll find this knowledge very helpful, especially when troubleshooting.
    If you enjoyed the Live Schematic working animation in this video, you'll find a whole lot more of them at www.lunchboxsessions.com

    I love the background music no less than the video itself. It makes me feel I'm at a sort of old, greasy powerhouse with a whole lot of things to do. (compliment intended!!) Great job.

    Thank you very much for all the video insights that you have posted. I hope that someday you will have your own simulation software (at an affordable price).

    I thought air in hydraulics was a bad thing in regards to the breather, or is this ok as it is on the return to the resevoir? Good info thanks, ive taken notes.

    Hello, Have a question wondering if you could help please.
    I see in your video the filter is before the pump but I have notice in other system the filter is not before the pump but rather located just before returning to the tank. Where is the correct spot for the filter? thanks in advance.

    • @smic1978
      @smic1978 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The idael is to use both filters , and even better if you use and a pressure filter just after the pump

    can you explain about the difference between pressure relief valve,pressure reducing valve and unloading valve

    • @gurg9329
      @gurg9329 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pressure relief is to keep the system to a set level, Pressure reducing is if you're needing to step down the pressure in part of the circuit, unloading im not very familiar with but I hoped I helped. :D

    what is the use of check valve in the return line(tank line after the cooler)? thanks in advance

    • @jeffjeff8562
      @jeffjeff8562 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably to keep the return lines from emptying and/or to maintain a small amount of pressure in the return system. like 1-5 psi. Also since there is a cooler in the return line, it should be full of fluid all the time for efficient cooling.

    Where is narrator from? When pronouncing "radiator" at the end of video, it was pronounced the same way I say it, which I've been made fun of. I'm from NYC. : )

      Carl (and the rest of our team) are based out of Alberta, Canada. But we all travel and have interactions with people all over the continent, so some of our pronunciations get a bit warped by all the different accents we encounter, so who knows!
