    I’m researching the Hrv for my parents. They have a tight budget and find the Hrv sport to be the best, because of those beautiful rims, and those gloss black accents😍.

    I just leased one. I got the EX trim.I drove a 2016 Civic before. Here are my likes and dislikes:
    Likes:
    It’s higher from ground than the Civic. Better for driving over snow & deep puddles and I can see traffic ahead better.
    Somewhat more comfortable seats. (My former car was so uncomfortable that it irritated a nerve on my right leg.)
    I finally have AWD
    I love the rear window wiper
    I like the Lane Assist view on NAV screen.
    Enjoying heated seats
    Love the moon roof. It lets fresh air in and not so much traffic fumes.
    Somewhat adjustable console space
    Dislikes:
    Lack of power. Makes getting onto parkways a bit scary.
    I don’t like the where the phone plugs are. They’re a little hard to reach
    Noisy engine
    Lack of trunk space
    I hate having to twist open a gas cap again. I got spoiled with the Civic’s “push” door.
    I miss the Civic’s digital speedometer.
    I hate the new car odor because it makes me sick. I wish they could use materials which weren’t prone to toxic offgassing

    In the USA people cry that the 1.8 gasoline 141 hp engine is not enough power. I drove the car a few times and think the power is fine though. But I would like to see the Civic 1.5 turbo engine offered as an option, and they should give it at least a 2000 lbs tow rating too.

    I must admit, I do like this cute little car. I wish it was around when I bought my 2nd Nissan Versa, the first one was damn near a death trap, power was pretty much none existent and the 4spd transmission was severely anemic at panic stops. My second versa had a CVT and it was worlds away from th first. However, given the uprades made to this car, I would've gladly taken this one over that one.

      I'm surprised to see people saying this. I can't stand the giant gaudy plastic chrome they're using in their new grilles. The sport looks better than the other models for sure, but then you're stuck getting features you probably don't want (like the paddle shifters) and you can't get features you actually might want (like LED headlights/taillights).

    Good review. Honda seems to continue skimping of infotainment with some models and trim levels. People want good smart phone connectivity and decent audio quality in a car. My 2015 Fit EXL has no volume knob, fixed in later model years, and the audio quality is awful. Replacing the head unit causes the loss of too many features and functions. These are good cars, but often lack the most basic bells and whistles imo. The HRV seems to be gradually getting more appealing, but it isn’t there yet. Honda doesn’t seem to be in touch with the wants of U.S. buyers, just gives them what they do.

    • @SonyEnthusiast
      @SonyEnthusiast 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ronnie greher you do know the Touring gets all the bells and whistles right?

    • @RonnieGreher
      @RonnieGreher 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Relatively speaking. Honda still doesn't give us enough imo. I want a heated steering wheel for this cold climate in upstate NY. I looked at a CX-5 the other day and was very impressed with all the fancy stuff it had. Really nice vehicle (GT) and low 30's for a price. Honda's infotainment doesn't function so well in my experience.

    • @SonyEnthusiast
      @SonyEnthusiast 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ronnie greher it's enough for us and the infotainment system is good. It seems you're very picky, so you need to pay more to satisfy your wants.

    • @RonnieGreher
      @RonnieGreher 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On my 2105 Fit EXL, for example, when playing audio from my iPhone using a cable the radio does not remember where you left off and there is no pause/play button. Most radios do not behave this way.

    • @SonyEnthusiast
      @SonyEnthusiast 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ronnie greher my HRV doesn't do that and it also remembers where it left off especially vis Bluetooth. I can mirror my phone too and now Carplay and Android auto is available in the new HRV.
      Again, you need to pay for more to satisfy your picky wants. Don't settle or you will complain like this

      I own a 2018 HRV we went with it because the significant other didn’t want something as big as the CRV. Keep in mind the CRV can tow the HRV cannot. So if you need to take a little trailer with you a CRV may be the option to go with.
      We also own a 2016 Fit.
      I can say that if you do your own maintenance the HRV is much easier just for the simple fact you can reach the transmission fill plug without 16 inch needle nose pliers.
      The rear diff is also a drain and fill which you can easily do yourself.
      I also look at how easy those kinds of things are for the long term. I can honestly say I am very happy with the HRV and Fit they both have their uses.

      @@dbteach01 For the enthusiast an aftermarket turbo is always an option... Plus the Honda engine is going to outlast the Kia Soul even with an aftermarket turbo...

    I always love how Honda crams so many features into such a small and inexpensive vehicle. I’m not sure, but I highly doubt any other subcompact crossover (or even car) gets LED headlights; however, I’m not sure why Honda wouldn’t update the software since they just refreshed everything else. I’m not in the market for a new yet, nor will I be soon, but I’m pretty set on another Honda

      Dylan Fisher I really don’t follow the subcompact suv segment. It’s nice to know but at the end of the day they’re too small for my taste

      Dylan Fisher learn about cars too, the HRV is a late new model for America, but it has already been around in other countries first with LED's, etc.

      Dylan Fisher I have a 2008 Pilot which back then was only 188 in. vs the new one which is 196. I’ve also driven my friends VW beetle which is absolutely puny. I felt like I was dragging my butt on the ground

      Jay Mac if you wanna waste money on gas and struggle to find parking in city streets, go for big SUVs. If you want good interior/cargo space and good mpg, then go for CUVs

    Why can't they add 2 extra screw holes for the rear license plate? lol I cringe every time I close my Civic trunk and hear the annoying rattle of my license plate cover.

    • @FlameHazeist
      @FlameHazeist 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could just glue some foam to the license plate to dampen the rattle...
