This alone just proves, that no matter what character Tim plays, there will always be a lingering hint of Dr.Franken Furter (Rocky Horror Picture Show). We love you Tim
Tim Curry has one of the sexiest voices on the planet! Hexxus is also one of the most strangest animated villains, probably because you would never expect a spirit of pollution to look and behave like sexy supermodel.
Yeah, but what if Hexxus had a HUMAN FORM? Like, over centuries, he learned how to adopt a human form for himself, so he could walk among humans and they be none the wiser. Idk, but I kinda imagine Hexxus’ (hypothetical) human form looking kinda like David Xanatos from Gargoyles, albeit a little more muscular and uses a cigarette holder
Okay, so there are a lot of comments saying how Hexxus and this song are really sexy, and that's true, but I just realized something. Thematically, that's kind of brilliant. Polluting is easy to do. All it takes is thoughtlessness and short-sighted pursuit of pleasure and profit; you get a big, smog-emitting truck because it makes you feel like a big man. You throw that cigarette butt on the ground instead of disposing of it properly because it's easier that way. The forests are cut down for logging and cattle grazing land because it's profitable. The act of polluting is seductive, it's a temptation that we actively have to fight if we want to preserve the environment. This isn't a good movie and I don't know if that was intentional, but the thematic elements of this scene are very strong.
I always figured that was intentional...but now that I think of it, the movie wasn't really that subtle... Hexxus was a great villain though, and that's one reason why...

Sergei Ivanovich Mosin like, every time someone doesn't recycle or they throw a piece of trash on the ground, tim curry's beautiful voice serenades them XD
ʟʊċʏ stɛɛʟ No. I've actually been attracted to a Disney character since I was 5. His name is Basil of Baker Street from a movie called The Great Mouse Detective and I have to tell ya, he was SOOOOOOO handsome.😍
All the movements his body makes must have been SO hard to animate. Considering his liquid form has to act like a liquid, still sliding places but spreading behind it. While his gas form would have been SO hard to animate with the extra movement
I'll be honest. I"m straighter than the heartbeat of a dead man on a bedside monitor. But Tim Curry's voice? I'd slam that shit harder than Hulk slamming Thor into the floor.
If it's like that for you, imagine it for someone who just figured out that they're bi (yo). I swear, sang this for a guy I've got my eye on (along with a little... Performance), and ill be damned if I didn't hear his precious little heart SKIP a couple of beats!
A S R I just mean that Hexxus has a really cool design (both how he looks and how he moves) and that it would be pretty awesome if we got a version of Venom (or one of the other symbiotes) that moves and looks the same way Hexxus does.
I feel like the animators had a lot of fun boarding a music video for a character that was made of smoke, and flamboyant enough to not bother holding a form. Hard to go off model when there is no model. This scene would have been an animators dream and I bet the artists that did it were incredibly happy
If sexuality was ALL that Hexxus was, Curry still brought that out beautifully in an otherwise 2D character. So often you find a "Bad guy with no motives for being bad just because the director needs a villian", but Curry is so GODDAMN good, plus the facial animation has the perfect amount of deranged narcissism in it, that it gives Hexxus some flesh as a character. Perhaps I'm just projecting my narcissism, but eh, a part of me certainly does connect with Hexxus. Anyone else want an empty concert hall so they can howl out "Fil-thy brown; ACID RAIN!"?
Let's make a movie to teach kids about why pollution is bad and conservation is important! But also let's include Tim Curry as a muscular smog cloud singing a sexy song about pollution. Let's include some moaning. That'll teach kids to hate pollution.

Yeah, that was the point. They gave the dirtiest song in the to the living embodiment of pollution voiced by a guy whose most famous acting roll was that of a horny transvestite mad scientist who was able to seduce a newly wed couple into sleeping with them while Frankensteining up a sex slave
while this movie sucks, I absolutely love Hexxus's design, this living incarnation of toxicity, it allows for A LOT of creativity, and I'll give the movie this, while the writing is terrible, the animation is amazing.
Tim Curry has played a sweet transvestite from Transexual Transylvania, a mass murdering clown, a girlscout, a wild Thornberry, literally Satan himself, and a pile of sludge that makes me want to do some deliciously nasty things. If Tim Curry can't do it then it can't be done.
He also played the best version of cardinal richileu i've seen in the three musketeers and was the secondary villain in the shadow. In the shadow he was acting along side ian mckellan as his bplab partner.
We were watching this movie during one of my classes. I had loved the movie since I was a lad, but I felt uncomfortable hearing Hexxus moan in a classroom full of sophomores-

So the whole song has this sensual stripper Joe Cocker Leave My Hat On vibe because of that. And holy shit did they pick the right man for it. Tim Curry at it again making us sexually attracted to a Smokey beef cake Pollution spirit.
Sota Steelwing oh that's a perfectly normal reaction when that particular voice actor gets into a sensual persona. Something about their voice makes men and women alike hot and bothered, especially if you're budding into those hormones. I just call it the Toxic Love Reaction. Just don't actually [censored] the toxic sludge, you'll probably get irradiated and shit.
This is why if you want to make a film pro-environmental film you don't have the embodiment of the thing the film is supposed to be against voiced by Tim Curry. This song makes pollution sound awesome.
I rewound this scene many times on VHS, i loved the part 2:14- 2:40, with the chainsaw and him bursting in laughter, and then him looking directly at us. It was well done to reveal that this villain couldnt be reasoned with actually enjoyed us watching us die from his pollution and mayhem.
As a small, unsuspecting child, this character made me love FernGully- As a still small, sexually confused young adult, this makes me question how a smoke demon can be so sexy. But then again.... It's Tim- Also, I never realized how sexualized this could get if you really thought about it xD
HOLY SHIT you're right....i'm trying to think of a time before this movie that i began to know those feelings.....BUT I CAN'T....altho to be honest if any character was gonna do it it would be him
Zee Nooo , I remember seeing this in the theater when I was a kid, it was more scary the sexy to me at that time, some of the parents were laughing and kids were crying lol.
Producer- 'Mr. Curry, did we do something to imply this should be uncomfortably sexual?'
Tim Curry- 'You hired me.'
Right? I mean, if you hire Curry, it kinda seems implied. Or did everyone forget about Rocky Horror Picture Show?
Henrik Magnusson
No, but with the remake of IT, people remember the miniseries with Tim Curry as Pennywise.
???, Pennywise was sexy as fuck.
James Koch If Curry sings every pair pf pants regardless of sexuality is soaking wet.
He literally played a transvestite as what got him famous. How could you not expect something sexual from his performances?
"Hit me one time. Hit me twice! Oh! Ah! Ooowww... that's rather nice!" Love it!
Never has a skeleton looked so sexy. ;)
"[Hexxus] is completely devoid of any redeeming factors, except maybe a vulgar sort of charm..."

I loved this character when I was young even though he was the villain. This was my favorite scene. #NoRegrets XD
I'm confused about so many things.
assss..cid rain
LordLightning 23 lol ikr
It's an ancient sentient cloud of noxious pollution that has zero grasp on modern mandatory work breaks. Where are you getting confused at in this?
PhantomDragon1992, we are confused if it is alright to be sexually attracted to toxic sludge.
Sota Steelwing oh that's a perfectly normal reaction when that particular voice actor gets into a sensual persona. Something about their voice makes men and women alike hot and bothered, especially if you're budding into those hormones.
I just call it the Toxic Love Reaction. Just don't actually [censored] the toxic sludge, you'll probably get irradiated and shit.
only Tim Curry can make global pollution sound so incredibly sexy. i mean...damn
One of my favorite songs sung by Tim Curry, thanks for uploading this 👍🏻
Man there's just something about Tim Curry that makes him perfect for villains
+Raul Menendez his amazing cords?
That could work lol
that or just his looks, i mean have you seen him in Rocky horror. i know that was about 40 years ago but still :}
Yes I have lol he was awesome in that
And to think this is what was considered a kids movie when i was growing up, kids these dont know what good is
Not unless Ferngully gets a live action remake like the ones we got from Disney or goes to Broadway.
I know right! And the movie has such a good message to viewers of all ages!
Sour Man Well, this song was kinda overly sexual for what a kid cartoon.
Since when did Nigel Thornberry become an advocate for pollution?
Nightcorefan Tim Curry sang this
Sssmeshing.
Hahahaahhaahaaa 😂
2:20 is ridiculously hot. wow. thanks Tim Curry, now I realize why I'm into twisted characters.
There is a fine line between arousal and fear. You realize that with this character.
Best version by far on TH-cam. kudos dude
+Lane Brewster I agree dude finally a good toxic love video
This is a damn movie about fairies XD Then this comes on and ur like DAMN
This is why if you want to make a film pro-environmental film you don't have the embodiment of the thing the film is supposed to be against voiced by Tim Curry. This song makes pollution sound awesome.
his accent is amazing. Tim Curry is fabulous and anything he does is instantly fabulous
did any one else notice that hexxus had a jawline that even Elvis could only dream of
Ferngully wasn't a favorite of mine as a kid but Tim Curry knows how to make a villain showstopper!
Manuel Orozco Hexxus should be a model
Defeato Neato A model? I find it hard to believe. I've been thinking for a while now Ferngully should be a Broadway show
If you're making an environmental film, don't make the pollution the only good character.
Fax
I rewound this scene many times on VHS, i loved the part 2:14- 2:40, with the chainsaw and him bursting in laughter, and then him looking directly at us. It was well done to reveal that this villain couldnt be reasoned with actually enjoyed us watching us die from his pollution and mayhem.
Idk how to describe it but the way he says “I see the world” at 1:41 sounds so unbelievably badass
As a small, unsuspecting child, this character made me love FernGully-
As a still small, sexually confused young adult, this makes me question how a smoke demon can be so sexy.
But then again.... It's Tim-
Also, I never realized how sexualized this could get if you really thought about it xD
WARNING: Don't read the comments section unless you want to DIE from laughter.
i do wanna die tho
Most were weird
This should have been pinned.
Michael Davis It's pretty Ironic that we have the same last names.
Too late! XD
The awkward moment you realise this was sung by Nigel Thornberry.
+Whiskii Face SMASHING
LOL
Whiskii Face SLASHING,DASHING,MASHING
"What a smashing device"
Frosty videos I'M SCREAMING
i swear 1:03 was the moment my sexuality was awakened
Or both.
Corrina Asher lmao
Yup that's Tim curry and now I feel this song is about sex
HOLY SHIT you're right....i'm trying to think of a time before this movie that i began to know those feelings.....BUT I CAN'T....altho to be honest if any character was gonna do it it would be him
I was so scared of him when I was little, I had a recurring nightmare for two years about him. Now though, I'm attracted to him...
Wow, havent seen this movie forever! One of fav 90's movie. Tim Curry singing is amazing!
Christ, imagine all the uncomfortable parents when they took their kids to see this.
Zee Nooo , I remember seeing this in the theater when I was a kid, it was more scary the sexy to me at that time, some of the parents were laughing and kids were crying lol.
You mean all the Christian households who went to the movies for some good clean fun.
Mazxj Stripes Glad I'm not the only one.
Just be glad they didn't use the original version of this.
I haven't heard this song in 24 years and I just now realized how sexy this is.
So crazy thought. A Death Battle Hexus vs Captain Planet
Just imagine Pennywise the Clown singing this down in the sewers of Derry Lol.
I got a balloon for you! XD
I imagined Freddy Krueger singing this down in his boiler room.... (facepalm) That didn't go so good! XD
I see the world, and all the kiddies in it
I eat em up,and spit em out like spinach
Block99Productions that is a strange and humorous thought!!!
"Excuse me sir, do you have Prince Albert in a can?"
God, Tim is absolutely lovely in everything he does
DouBLe shiftsssss. No BReaksssssss.
Always loved how he pronounced those words. Creepy yet catchy
Tim Currys VOICE man, fuck...some seriously sludgy sexiness right here!
i dont care how bad this movie was i can t get tired of hexxus.
As a kid Hexxus scared the living crap out of me..... oh, how times have changed...
Pastel Calaverita You're not the only one who got scared of him. I too was scared of him as a child
I didn't know egg chow mein could be said so evilly
Can we just talk about how amazing this animation is?
