I always wondered about the bat thing and why he had brought them. I knew it was to look like a hawk to scare him so Rango could get the upper hand. But then I watched it the other day, and heard the mole Matriarch say, "Stick to the plan! Bleed him dry!" And realised that part of the plan was to make him use all his bullets so he couldn't shoot Rango.
My theory is if Jake didn't realize it's bats he would slither away from town as fast as he could so Rango wouldn't have to fight em. They probably had a backup plan in case he did found out.
I simply love the fact that even on his own cunning, faking way he'd still care about the town and the people in it. He lied to everyone in their faces but what makes Rango so likeable is that he did everything he could to make them not giving up on hope.
5:36: And it was this moment, Jake felt the terror. The stranger, was no longer the same person he faced when he shot down his sign, because this time, HE HAS THE KILLER IN HIS EYES.
It's so weird looking but very clever that Jake has a line mustache even though snakes can't have body hair. It's much like the other Wild Western bad guys with facial hair compensating the good guys on whose more badass!

What makes this so cool is that- Jake KNEW Rango took the bullet from his gun, his eyes followed Rango's hands. I feel like Jake somehow knew he could've said something about it but rather wanted to keep it a secret from John because he was curious to what Rango was going to do. Think about it, right now would've been the PERFECT time for Jake to just laugh or at least give a snicker or a smile at Rango's surrender, but no, he widened his eyes and watched the sherrif hand in his gun but still have a bullet hidden, which at any point he could've snitched it off. Even when Rango gets locked in, Jake doesn't seem cocky or smiling like he would whenever he watched or even tried to kill someone, he seemed like he was on his guards, wanting to see what this new version of Rango would prepare this time. And in the end, Jake's curiosity paid off as that's what saved him from being shot by John. You can call Jake an a-hole, sure, but he does demonstrate some sort of western honor

Here you start with a short, succinct phrase “Look into my eyes,” and then queue into a long winded mouthful by comparison “I wanna see the life leave yours.” It doesn’t sound right, it breaks the flow of the sentence. The original line is already perfect. It communicates the exact same message, it does it in a manner far more quicker and succinct. It’s catchy, it flows well, everything about it works. With yours, it loses that quick, succinct, catchy nature of the original, it tries to hard to overcomplicate things. We don’t always need to find some clever replacement for the word die. Sometimes a simple die is the most effective choice. As a result of this, it breaks immersion and it loses the intimidation factor. If that was what Jake had said, it would have pulled me out of the scene instantly. Any way you say that line, it just doesn’t work here. I mean no disrespect, only to criticise. Criticism is important, it is one of the many ways we improve.

@@lafingscarecrow I never said it needs to rhyme, though that can enhance it. I said they sound similar and in this case it gives it that better flow. Here you start with a short, succinct phrase “Look into my eyes,” and then queue into a long winded mouthful by comparison “I wanna see the life leave yours.” It doesn’t sound right, it breaks the flow of the sentence. The original line is already perfect. It communicates the exact same message, it does it in a manner far more quicker and succinct. It’s catchy, it flows well, everything about it works. With yours, it loses that quick, succinct, catchy nature of the original, it tries to hard to overcomplicate things. We don’t always need to find some clever replacement for the word die. Sometimes a simple die is the most effective choice. As a result of this, it breaks immersion and it loses the intimidation factor. If that was what Jake had said, it would have pulled me out of the scene instantly. Any way you say that line, it just doesn’t work here. I mean no disrespect, only to criticise. Criticism is important, it is one of the many ways we improve.

I loved this movie as a kid! I haven’t watched this movie forever and revisiting it years later, I never realized how well animated looking this movie is. It’s a shame they don’t make kid movies as good as this anymore😔
