Yep, I had hoped it was be decently quiet, but it was much quieter than I had anticipated. When the reps and I discussed the specs we basically leaned on it and had our conversation the entire time.

We use Flexzilla Hoses and like them. However we have an IR already.

Eaton Compressor builds this unit or Polar air its there Whisper Series Quiet air Im 100% sure of this unit and if you buy this from Eaton's website and its 1/2 the cost then Flexilla they only thing they give a 6 year warranty Eaton gives a 5 year but for 1/2 the money you make the choice
The Eaton certainly appears to be very, very similar. I never say something is the same unless confirmed by a company rep to me. I can't find where the Eaton is assembled. For my money I'd probably buy the Eaton though. That extra money could go a lot farther in my shop.

HotRodHippie when I was buying my Polar Air compressor, I asked if there were any in stock and the lady on the phone said she’ll check with the “sister company EMax” so I’m assuming it’s the same thing.
surprised the inlet pipes are so small and the small 90 bends don't help. that makes it quieter but makes it less efficient. rather crude.
there is benefits to joining the intakes. would really like to do a tuned intake manifold for one.
on my work one i routed the inlet to the outside of the building. let the neighbors enjoy the sound ! but used much larger pipes on a smaller compressor.
A comparable IR 10HP (3ph) is rated St 35cfm, this one is 39. So I'm sure they tested thoroughly enough to determine there wasn't much benefit to another size. Whether it be a cost factor or performance. Compressors have a certain sound that is nails on a chalkboard to me so this thing is music to my ears and I'd trade off a little power loss for that.
@@HotRodHippie i just think with some better inlet piping, even some intake tuning, they could have improved the efficiency and sound even more.

Who makes these for them? Or do they make their own?
I don’t believe they produce this as now there seem to be other brands with the same design but cheaper. That said, I don’t know who the manufacturer is. Companies don’t like to disclose that kind of stuff freely. I can usually get them to admit it if I already know and ask point blank, but not knowing I couldn’t ask.
If you can’t hear your compressor, how can you tell there’s a problem if you’re not standing right beside it?
Lack of air supply? Doing general maintenance and inspections of your equipment?
Most shops I’ve worked in has the compressor in a separate room or area where we weren’t subjected to the noise all day. If anything I’d be more inclined to have this one closer to me and notice problems sooner.
I wonder if this is just a rebranded emax. Which Emax is cheaper.
Emax wasn’t available when I made this video so who knows. I’d imagine there is one company making it for them. (Fairly sure there are now at least 3 companies selling this design.)
Emax compressor looks exactly the same for like 1300 less.
For 5 grand it better cook me breakfast
Overpriced emax
It seems the Eaton / Polar Air Whisper series are the actual originals of this line. The Emax is about $500 less than the Flexzilla at today's prices (5HP/80 gallon), but the Polar Air version is over $1000 cheaper. The 5HP/80 Gallon Polar Air is $1800-1900 US.
When I was introduced to this I was unaware of the Eaton/Polar Air ones sadly.

I think they were selling it in this form before the Emax. But now that the Emax is available at such reasonable prices this makes no sense to buy anymore.
