Alan - congratulations on scoring the great new working space, and on you new relationship. Sounds like things are headed in a great direction. I'll be eager to see the bike project when that comes around to center stage.
I liked the way you explained the challenges of being a 'content generator'. Not everyone understands what it takes to do what you do, and you do it exceptionally well!
All the best - with everything!

Wow!! I created Garage Fab to help people make the most of small work spaces but that’s nuts! You did a great job hiding it, Alan. Congrats on the new space and maybe I’ll see you when you’re in my home town during SEMA. Good luck my friend.

I really enjoyed the HotRodHippie content, so I'm glad you're not dropping off! Actually have learned a lot. Everything you've said about being a creator, very true. We're a two person channel and it's definitely more work than any viewers imagine. but still cranking it ou!

I've not done a video in a year. I've had my channel for 9 years and only have 4700 subscribers, definitely not a money maker. But my channel is "all over the place" so I get it. It's great to see you in a new shop and in a relationship. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do to make the space better.

Well... I was wondering what's been up. We always have to judge and manage output vs input. Money in has to be of greater value than money/time out or it's just not sensible for most of us.
Congrats on the new space, the renewed energy for this stuff and the new relationship!
That bike build should bring in some new subs from the two-wheeled crowd.
Ya, insulation will be a big deal, but I wouldn't worry about the train sounds. Use that. You know... first person in each video to tell you what the time stamp was for when the train made it's entrance gets a .. "insert thing here". Something 3D printed, a % off merch, a sticker or whatever.
Nice to see your shop assistant advising you how clean up.
For sure bring back the old backdrop. That's cool.
    Bring on the videos!
    Joe

    • @HotRodHippie
      @HotRodHippie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you Joe, and that’s an excellent idea on the train. I’ll be insulating for the weather no matter what, and to cut down on echos, but we shall see what it’s like after that.

Whatever you choose to do in the long run, please don’t be one of the channels to remove your videos. You have some of the most useful information for true custom diy parts on the internet. Yes they can probably be found in forums, but to be able to see them in a visual format is so much more helpful

Congrats on everything! I actually found your channel in February while looking for waterproof electrical connectors while I was rewiring a boat with a coworker, and your videos are part of the reason I chose Deutch connectors. I'll be looking for your other channel as soon as I finish typing this, because I like 3d printing, too. [Rings notification bell on the say out]

Congrats on new space! Was just using one of your tips last week tig welding up holes on my 1951 Ford business coupe. Tape to hole the plug patch piece in place that I punched out with my Whitney sheet metal punch. One tack and then pulled the tape off. Great tip! For an affordable tig welder I have been using the Prime Weld Tig225. Thanks Alan!

Happy to hear that the 3d content is doing well. I have a buddy that has a printer, and it's really fascinating to me.
Looking forward to the bike build as well. I also understand that bills don't stop and producing content takes a lot of time, equipment, money, and effort. I appreciate what you do and learn a lot from your content. I am glad that the shop will c ok continue, and I hope that it, too, will become self sustaining like the 3d content. Looking forward to more reviews as well. Keep up the excellent work!!

Great to hear you're staying with us Alan! As an enthusiastic consumer of YT content over the last couple of years and knowing a couple of people who create it, I've really come to appreciate how much work goes into it. Some people have suggested that I put my work on YT, and my answer has been a definite "no".
Looking forward to your new content!

Awesome to see more content. I myself built a SOHC CB750 to a cafe bike years ago. Also I know personally how much time it takes to film and edit videos and I have failed at that myself recently. Just want to finish the projects and don't really care about content currently.

Congratulations...love your channel! I have seen several you tube creators reexamine their business model. One actually has just become an "infomercial" for cheap tools...ugh. Another is focusing on patreon content and is doing well. Please hang in there...I suspect we have been (as viewers) in a golden age--where we have unlimited learning opportunities for no cost--I suspect that will end--But the truly good creators should survive. Carpe Diem! ...and never sell out😉

Congratulations on your new place and keeping up with the channel. I heard you came down to NC, that is where I live, (Raleigh area). I wanted to see if you could help me with my 55 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer I am restoring. I am having starting issues and there is one part that I do not know what it is or why it's there. I believe from the research I have done, it's a continuous solenoid relay switch. The battery cables are going directly to it and then to the starter solenoid. is this correct? Also, would you recommend just rewiring the whole thing? Some of the old wires are frayed and the pol insulation covering is coming off and exposing the wires. I am trying to figure what wire goes where and it is a job to say the least. I appreciate your videos and keep up the great work. I can't wait to see the new shop and studio. Thanks again.

I have a home built machine with a ATV engine and it is getting much too hot and I am going to put a oil cooler on it and it has banjo fittings attaching the oil lines to the engine, I am looking at putting either a banjo to AN adapter on them or a banjo to slip on hose adapter, I would love to also include a small relocated spin on oil filter inline with the cooler, I just have a limited budget on the job but what is your overall opinion on it, Thanks, Dave

Over a y ear! I will be making videos in 2023 but not many. Sadly this channel just cost me money to make content and wasn't sustainable. I've got another channel now that covers 3D printing and "Maker" content that I am focusing on. It is 1/4 the size and already sustains itself, so sadly I had to make the hard choice. I'm hoping to have a new video here in a few weeks, but for the future it will likely be sparse sadly.
