You should also compare the Trd exhaust to the stock exhaust. I’ve been looking at getting a Trd exhaust for my Tacoma, but have struggled to find a video comparing the stock base Tacoma exhaust to the Trd exhaust.
@@UntamedMotors and now we're finally nearing the end of it in the US. I bought a 2023 4Runner Offroad Premium new last year. I want to put an exhaust on it to listen to my V6, since a V6 offroad SUV is a rarity among new cars now.
Mbrp makes awesome exhaust systems. Had a set on my 07 Mustang gt.. always got compliments on how it sounded. In this comparison I think it really comes down to personal preference and also if you wanna blow some money for a tid bit of deeper sound.. honestly the pro exhaust is fine.. its a v6 so you'll never get the V8 sound you want. Unless you go extremely unconventional.
My TRD cat back has serious drone around 2k RPM ... I think it's the TRD cold air intake pairing. I've been slowly dynamating under and inside the trunk area. I have knocked it down a few decimals but not where I want it to be. Thinking about buying the Borla cat back but I do like the TRD sound .... just annoying when on trip with the family.
yea I actually took mine off and replaced with a regular TRD exhaust non pro. It took one trip to the mountains. That drone thru hills will beat you down into submission. I’ve since gotten advice that if you wrap the tail pipe with muffler tape, that will increase mass and absorb some of the drone. I’m gonna try that at some point
Untamed, when I hear either exhaust I just think to myself “the 4Runner needs a V8!” Lack of power and poor throttle response is really the only thing holding back an otherwise amazing SUV.
TRD is more subtle............in sound and appearance. That's the way I like it. Do not like the Chrome exhaust tip at all or the hitch accessory, less is more.
TRD exhaust just sounds more appropriate for the truck. But I also do not prefer loud exhausts on vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. (Not including sports cars with sequential shift automatics, of course).Tends to be droney.
By the way, any chance I could check out your 4runner TRD pro. From Redmond 😊 I've done my best to checkout all your videos but I think I need to see the thing before ordering.
@@hellfire_5.030 THe performance exhaust is an added option. I don't doubt there are Pro models on the dealer lots that have them, but they are an option even on the TRD Pro, not stock.
Trd exhaust all day long. When you're on the highway doing 70 mph you'll realize a louder exhaust wasn't worth the drone. The trd still sounds decent but won't be so harsh on the highway.
That is incorrect I promise. TRD pro exhaust has plenty of annoying drone even on the slightest of hills. Maybe not if one lives on the pan handle of Florida at speeds of 50mph or less.
Definitely the Trd exhaust, not too loud and not too quiet just right
TRD exhaust has a more refined sound. It's not too loud for daily use but sounds deeper than stock.
I like the MBRP’s deeper sound, but the TRD sounds nice too. Hard to decide
I love my TRD exhaust on my FJ. The growl never gets old.
MBRP! Sounds awesome! But TRD catback is my favorite.
I’d go with the TRD exhaust imo, both sound good .
You should also compare the Trd exhaust to the stock exhaust. I’ve been looking at getting a Trd exhaust for my Tacoma, but have struggled to find a video comparing the stock base Tacoma exhaust to the Trd exhaust.
I would go with MBRP 304 stainless steel cat back exhaust, it sounds deeper and throaty...
Both exhausts sound great; however, the TRD exhaust takes the win with its smooth tone throughout the rev band.
I’m surely going to miss the 1GR when it goes away the motor is simply a goat.
I completely agree. It’s such a solid motor/transmission combo.

Trd stock exhaust sounds so much better at least on camera 👌🏻
TRD exhaust sounds better under load. MBRP sounds better doing stationary revs. I'll keep the TRD exhaust.

I agree. A v8 in the current gen 4Runner would be a huge hit! Although the V6 isn’t the greatest, it’s still miles ahead of the 3.5L in the Taco imo.
they used to make V8 4Runners and I’ve driven one before
@@Lambotron2006 well, I had to get the next best thing - the GX460
nice i like both but the TRD pro is better overall
TRD exhaust. Looks and sound.
I would stick with the TRD, hands down!
I’m biased… but me too! =]
TRD is more subtle............in sound and appearance. That's the way I like it. Do not like the Chrome exhaust tip at all or the hitch accessory, less is more.
Nothing beats a stock trd pro exhaust.
I just took delivery of a 2021 TRD Pro 4Runner from Fred Anderson in Raleigh. I noticed your Fred Anderson logo on the back too. Same dealership?
I spotted the same thing... I’d imagine so. He’s originally from TN. 👍 (that wasn’t my 4Runner)
the MBRP sounds much better but wish the exhaust either pointed down or came out the side for better departure when off-roading
Stock pro for me! But they are both very good 😌
Have u ever had after this time and service engine light? Thanks 😊
TRD exhaust 👌
trd pro good sound and prefomance
Like both! But I would stick with the pro cat back because of the side exiting tip
Stock Pro for the win 👍🏻
I prefer the sound of the factory exhaust.
Stock is the winner.

I agree. I've always associated performance mufflers with manual transmissions. Just seems weird with an automatic transmission

Do a comparison at speed
MBRP for the win!
A bit more throaty for sure 👌
Does the TRD Pro come stock with the TRD performance exhaust? Or is this purchased separate?
It comes with it 👌🏻
@@UntamedMotors I don’t believe mine did and it’s a pro. Are you sure it isn’t an added option?

TRD catback exhaust sounded better to me. MBRP sounds like it would go 0-60 under 6 secs.
Is there any cabin drone on the mbrp?
Never been a fan of a V6 with “exhaust”. Now the Tundras 5.7, whole other story. 😂 I’ll be keeping my T4R stock.
What's wrong with it? I think the mbrp sounds good on this. Everything thinks it has to be a V8 sound haha.
Mbrp for sure

Hear me ROAR 🦁 !
Impairs departure angle, and it is noisier
TRD💪🏼👍🏻
Easily TRD stock exhaust
I own 2021 TRD Pro, don't like the black exhaust, sound like a motorboat on the inside☹. Rather have the chrome 👍🏻
TRD !
anyone here have / like the magnaflow better than these 2 or vice versa?
Oof! MBRP sounds like a Pontiac v6 when the muffler rusts off.
TRD sounds wayyyyyy better
TRD is my pick. MBRP is a little much.
BRP always has terrible drone. TRD sounds much better
Cat back
Mrb
Mbrp sounded better
First one

The catback sounds like hot garbage.
