- Looking for Instant Pot sealing ring replacement instructions? You'll need to remove the sealing ring to clean it, and it's also a good idea to keep food flavors from ruining your yogurt and sweets by switching out rings.
I recommend having various color rings to keep track of savory and sweet, but you can also give it the sniff test!

Thank you very much for this video, it was very helpful and easy to understand!
Thank you for making this video. It helped me a lot.
This is why I love TH-cam. People like you create and answer questions that we did not know we had!
Thank you so much. I was trying to put both rings on. Smh 🤦♂️
laleki9 Me too!! Duh. First time user here. Hope I like it.
Omg me too
What is the white/clear ring for?
Meeee toooo
I was as well
thanks for this video. The booklet doesn't explain that the red ring is a replacement.
Thanks for commenting, Joan Szurkus. The replacement rings come in multiple color options. Many people choose one color for delicate foods (yogurt, cheesecakes, etc) and another color for stronger foods (chili, onions, etc) so that the smell from the stronger food won't transfer to the delicate foods. I use a blue ring or a clear ring for my yogurt and a red ring for my recipes with onions, peppers, etc.I have mixed them up and ruined yogurt - it's nice to have them assigned and separated by use. :-) Hope this helps!
I feel like an idiot for trying to put both on
@@TheAppleSnapple I was trying the same thing, and I figured no way, so I came on here and saw the comments. So glad I did.
@@tgvlogs7612 Same! At least I only spent about 5 minutes before giving up! The manual says it must be installed before use ... however it neglects to say that the clear one is already installed ... then they go on to show the red one which makes a lot of people think that the red one also has to be installed!
But still glad I came and learned about the reason to use different rings for different things!
I didn’t know that either, the instructions are horrible, so the clear can be used? I just used mine for the first time, but steam came out the whole time, that can’t be right
THANK YOU THAT MANUAL WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY
Thank you...it took me too many minutes to figure the sealing ring after I washed it. You showed me how to and made my day...nothing about this is in the book!
I'm so glad it helped - I had the same reaction to the book, LOL.
So the red ring is just a replacement ring?? Would be nice if anywhere they explain that. I am assuming that is the case.
Yes it is, and remember to keep one ring for the savory foods separate from one that you use for yogurt or sweets.
Thank you for this video. I just bought the Viva Instant Pot and was confused where the red seal belonged because it already had a clear one. I'm glad I found your channel and I have Subscribed to it.
Thank you very much -- and thank you for showing up close which side goes up and how it fits around the rack. As you said this is extremely important. Why the instructions tell us nothing is baffling to me. Have Instant Pot send you a check!
Thank you I was doing all wrong I thought and tried and tried and tried to put on the pot itself. So thank you for showing and explaining
Glad to help :)
I have a 3 Qt pot and need to get additional sealing rings to put in my pot before the one I have become so stained from cooking different dishes in the pot. My pot sat up for over 1.5 years before I first used it and I finally cooked some boiled eggs for about a week ago and just cooked some chicken drumsticks to put in the Rice-A-Roni dish I made and both turned out perfectly and I love the pot already. Thanks for sharing this tip on how to remove and install the ring in the pot.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I’m helping out my sister-in-law with this and this is what we’ve been looking for
Thanks for this video, I've been trying to put the red gasket in with the original still in there.
Haven't done any sweets yet but thanks to my sweet daughter and SIL I do have the replacement sealing rings ready to install. Thank you for the instructions. Can't believe I haven't needed to do this for nearly a year...obviously I need to be making more sweets in my IP! Lol!!!
LOL! You are not the only one - I've heard that from others as well. I forgot to switch the ring after making chili or something with onions, and then I made yogurt with that same ring...oooooh it was not good. Just not good. Ha! Debra :-)
Thank you mucho! I was trying to insert the "red replacement ring" ON TOP of the other ring SMH...
I've tried four different official Instant Pot replacement rings in my Duo and no matter what 60% of the time it comes to pressure then steam bursts out and leaks from the sides. I'm pretty sure the rings are being placed correctly. Do I just have a defective Pot?
Hello Scott W. Black, sounds good, I think that would work great! Thanks for commenting:)
Honestly I didn’t have trouble with the odor retaining on the ring seal when cooking sweet or spicy food. I’m still using the one ring seal on the lid. It’s really not necessary to replace it unless it’s broken. For instance, chicken curry is known to have strong taste and odor, but each time I’m done with curry, I will cook sweet red beans with using the same ring seal. No curry smell transfer onto the sweet red beans.
Thank you... I threw away the replacement and thought oemgee I needed it.. I guess ill just buy a replacement and use the already one in there. I thought you had to replace it immediately
the manual was no real help. we was trying to figure out was the clear ring stay in or you replace it with the red one before using? I see you did this in the video . why not have the red one already in place if you have to use that one first ? thank you for this video great help
You’re the best ! Thank you for answering my question on the red ring ! God Bless n
Really helpful couldn't figure out if the red ring needed to be used with the clear ring already installed....
Glad this helped! It's great having more than one to switch out as needed 😀
Thanks Girl! I had no idea what it was for! I tried putting it around the actual inner pot...SMDH!
So glad to help! 😀
Thank you for this! No nowhere on the manual does it say the red ring is a replacement 😑 I was doing what everyone here on the comments was doing.
Thank you
Is instant pot Safe does it cause house fire. thank you
Thanks I was doing it all wrong. Thanks for showing me.
Do we toss the clear ring?
No - this is simply showing how I take it off to clean it and replace with another as needed. I'm using a red ring here, but the clear ring is the same.
Thank you. Yeah the book is like ikea instructions. They’re awful. Now I don’t have to bring my pot to work and have my coworkers help me put it together.
😉
This is really a useful video! Thanks so much! I did not understand that the red ring is a bonus.
Glad it helped! It's helpful to have extra rings on hand. 😀
thanks for the video. the booklet doesnt explain what the red ring is for.
Joan Szurkus yeah I saw that as well🙄 so it’s just an extra ??
@@zendimumford6949 I think so.
OOOOh thank you much much much ! Happy new year 2021 !
Happy new year!
Is red ring replacement fresh out of the new ordered pressure cooker necessary? What is the reason of replacement of red ring( Seal) ?
Thanks for the question! You may want to replace your sealing ring at some point - the video is meant to help see how it is done should you need to replace or remove and clean, etc. The red ring I'm using is an extra Instant Pot brand ring I ordered - my cooker came with a clear ring. Hope this helps!
Needed this thank u
Thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! You saved the day!
Thank god for youtube!! Thanks
Thank you so much my mom needed help lol the book doesn't explain very well
Listen . I was ready to sell my instant pot since I can't find my receipt to return it. Thanks very much
So glad to help!
Helpful. Thank you.
Thank you sooooo much!!!!
You're welcome! 😀
Thank you! I was helpong my mom set this up and we just couldnt figure it out!
Glad you were able to help your mom! 😀
You know what would be helpful. Explaining why you need to change sealing rings and why it comes with an extra red ring.
Hello Fossilol69, thanks for your comment.
Flavors can get "sealed" in the sealing ring, particularly foods like peppers or onions. It's best to keep separate rings used for sweets or yogurt, as savory foods will transfer the flavors. More info in the video as well.
But can i leave the white one there ?
I mean can i use only the white for everything? Or is the red one for different types of food/pressure etc?
@@JonsDiary yes, you just have to wash the white one really well
Jon's diary Good question it seems she took the white out put the orange in and so what is the white for and the orange for? I am confused? 😬
Thank you so much xx
thank you so much❤️❤️, blessings to you and yours
Thank you!
Thanks this helped
Muuuchasss gracias excelente explicación.
I accidentally forgot to put the seal in before cooking ! 😱 I had it set for three minutes and it never beeped ! The pin was down and hot steam coming out . I figure I better unplug it and wait 6 to 8 hours before I open it and hopefully it’ll be safe !
Awesome, 😊
Thanks! I took mine out to clean and was scared I broke it
I wish everyone who commented on this video showed us trying to figure out the red seal. I would be funny.
I can't get it in!
Hello Lucille Femine, so sorry! It is hard to get it in until you get the hang of it and use it a few times. The more you work with it the easier it gets.
Thank you!
Thank you!!!
Thank you!
