Wow, thanks, I bought my instapot today to steralize substrate and didnt think about the ring absorbing odours etc so I will use the red one for the substrate and switch back to the white one to cook my food.
Also if you soak the white ring in small tub full of water, 3 cans of beetroot juice, 5 cups of strawberries, squeeze some red food colouring in their too.. you have 2 red rings.

First thing I did was put the red ring on the pot. It took awhile but determination paid off.
I then tried closing it and it would close.
I was confused, then realized I had two seals. Took the red one off the pot and set it aside.
