Deviate nitro 2 is GOATed. Fast, comfy and great grip for mqny pounds less than the closest competition. That pumagrip is awesome, did 400meter repeats at the track yesterday and it was covered in snow and that icky grey stuff... No problem! Also works very well for light trail.
The deviate nitro 2 is a fabulous shoe. Out of my 13 shoe rotation, it sees the most use. It can do anything really. Besides that I would love to see you test some of their nitro trail shoes.
I run in Puma Deviate Nitro 2 and i have to say that it is an excellent running shoe. Extremely comfortable and you don't even feel the carbon plate...Puma road shoes are really nice.
Wow the review I’ve been waiting for!! Very durable soles on the pumas with great grip, they put my hoka speedgoats to shame. I’ve been running in the velocity nitro, nitro 2 and also voyage nitro 3 gtx. Found the voyage nitro 2 better as a walking shoe, it’s a bit clumpy.
Great review Loyd. I’ve run in both the nitro v1 and deviate v2. I too found them not as bouncy as I’d like them to be and a little on the narrow side. Tried going up a size but just didn’t work for me. I can see the appeal though as they have worked really well for friends of mine. The puma grip is undoubtedly very good and great value for the money. 👊
@@Run4AdventureI agree. I went up a half size in the Velocity Nitro 2 which mostly worked, but the fit still was not perfect for me. Also, the heel cup area seemed to kind of deform or dislocate. What a shame. I should have bought the Deviate Nitro 2 instead.
I have absolutely loved V1 & 2 of the Velocity Nitro, really looking forward to getting V3 on my feet. RRP here in New Zealand is $190 (about £95). Good deal, even at full price.
Another one to try is the ForeverRun Nitro. They're also meant to be a daily trainer but with more cushioning. I've also got the original Deviant Nitro Elite racing shoes, extremely light and carbon plated which I've found to be excellent.
The nitro in this shoe is actually a nitrogen infused TPEE. The nitrogen infused PEBA (as in deviate nitro elite 2 and deviate nitro 2) is in their nitro Elite foam.
No PEBA in here, just super critical TPEE and a light strip of EVA on the bottom layer. I also think this is actually a 10mm drop despite Puma’s listing on the site. Running warehouse measured 10 and it certainly feels high to me. Last- this shoe required a 20-30 mile break in for me. It was crazy stiff out the box but now I love it! The PUMAGRIP hype is real. Definitely wish puma made it a tad bit wider tho.
All the information I found online said the Velocity Nitro 3’s have a 8mm off set, including the PUMA website? 🤔 I personally didn’t think that the heel felt that high but I could be wrong 👍
@@Run4Adventure Yea i know, weird. Connor from running warehouse interviewed a PUMA rep (also named connor) at TRE and he also said out loud it was “36/26 with a 10mm drop”. It’s a pretty recent vid on the RW youtube. The PUMA rep looked like he was on something though so who knows lol.
Deviate nitro 2 are great very comfortable and great grip wore them on on wet and muddy in parts forrest path for 50k yesterday no issues I also really enjoy the nitro elite v1 for 5k and 10k value for money is great as always lots of discounts and they are very durable I put over 800k into Deviate nitro 2 and I feel there still life in them
As mentioned before I loved the V1. The Pumagrip is tremendous. The only issue I had was that the fabric ankle collar degraded after 200 miles. I wasn't too upset because of the price point but it'd be good if they upgrade that area. 👍
Deviate nitro 2 and Voyage nitro 3. Both great shoes if a little narrow - or is it my feet at fault. Love the grip of the voyage but breathability is limited. Good value and quite robust. 2 of the best shoes I've run in in 50 years of running. Love to hear your view.
Thanks Loyd great review, I love my Velocity nitro 2's, perfect daily trainer for me. Looks like the 3's will be great too. It will be great if you could get the Magnify nitro 2 to test and get your take on them.
I’ve got just under 100 miles on my pair of Magnify 2s. Really nice shoe, not too soft or unstable considering the stack height and full nitro midsole, with the usual solid pumagrip outsole. Seem to be holding up really well and would expect at least 500 miles out of them. A bit “too much” shoe for faster stuff though I find. Fit is also a lot wider/generous than the Velocity 2s which I had to return. Can be had for £65 in the uk at the moment- bargain for that price.
I’ve got some of the magnify 2 and love them. Very wide, very soft and very comfy. Only catch is that they have their limitations. A proper easy, recovery shoe, not one to easily get going in, even up to marathon pace. They are half price at sports direct at present. £65 for a top notch shoe. Bargain.
I just picked up some Deviate Nitro 2s in wide fit for £90. I couldn't wear the standard shoes due to the tightness of the toebox, but the wide fit is great.
I got the previous iteration last week, sent them back as they came up short (which was weird as apparently everyone says they some up long 🤷♂). I, like you, have a slightly narrow foot and they were quite tight still so seems like there's a few things that carry over.
The Puma Grip treat odd Continental Tire company dinner. Says so... So it should offer good grip and probably durability Should be a good result 3 trainer.... If it has stability then it could be a fairly show e.g dog walking, shopping, in the gym...
a bit of correction, the midsole is 8mm drop, but Puma insole is not flat and is 2mm thicker on the heel. Therefore the total drop if the insole is included is 10mm.
Interesting Velocity 2 is not good for runs over 5 miles for me, hence why I think they were always discounted, however a good recovery shoe, after long runs, wore mine for a recovery walk today after 16 mile Tempo
I hope the Velocity Nitro 3 is better than the Velocity Nitro 2, because except for the excellent outsole I really hated the Velocity Nitro 2. The midsole felt pretty blah and the heel felt overly mushy and unstable. A miserable shoe to run in.
Strange, I recently picked up a pair of nitro 2's after seeing nothing but glowing reviews for the price point and the insole in both shoes was too large for the shoe and had folded in and was rubbing my foot immediately. Maybe the wrong size went into the shoe?
It's an old school shoe for runners who are old school and don't run in ridiculous super shoes because their feet are strong and they don't need the crutches of soft super shoes. Is that you? If so, strengthen your feet. A little narrow as you say, but great ride... for the stronger feet.
That’s definitely not me David! I’ve been running all my life, back in the day when there was minimal cushioning in shoes so I’m not sure I need to strengthen? I’m not really sure where the ‘do I need the crutches of soft cushioning’ came from? 🤔

I absolutely love this shoe. An instant classic in my opinion 👌
Glad you’re enjoying it and thanks for watching 👍🙂

It’s definitely a narrow shoe Tony, I was surprised how narrow! Hope you are fit and well and thanks for watching 🙏🙂

Interesting description. Stay warm and safe, Loyd. Like to Run4adventure. A nice monday for everyone.
You to Manuel 👍🙂

Great video Loyd, on another note, you can currently pick the Velocity Nitro 2 up for around £55-£60 and that's still a cracking shoe!

My Nitro 2’s are possibly my favourite road shoe. Am amazing regular trainer. Hopefully the 3 is as good…

Coming from DN2, V3 is perfect for an easier run day...and i love narrower shoes for my narrow feet.
I've had version 1 and 2, loved them both although they are different, and something is telling me I'll get this iteration at some point too :)

Puma running shoes do tend to fit pretty narrow John! I’ll see what I can do 👍🙂
You need to try the Deviate Nitro 2 or the 3's when they come out this year
Correction here Loyd. Nitro foam as in this shoe is tpu based. Nitro elite foam however is peba based.....
hmm.. I think Nitro is EVA-based. Agree that the PEBA-based one is the "Nitro Elite" midsole
Awesome, thanks for the info 👍
Nope. It's tpu......@@aristodiga82
I'd say the Voyager Nitro 3 could represent a very interesting test for all the Puma technologies in the trail environment.

Yep same comment as many others here the Deviate Nitro 2 is a must
I’ll check it out 👍

Interesting, I have a very broad foot and never had any issue with the fit in the Velocity Nitro 2 - I hope it's not an issue in the VN3.
