    My grandpa worked for Norfolk Southern for 32 years as a signal maintainer. I would go hang out with him in his little metal shack by the tracks when he wasn’t riding the rails fixing crossing gates and signals. I had so much fun seeing all the trains constantly.

    Thanks for this BG, I purchased this DLC after watching your video. Did the training and then tried the Horseshoe Curve run and despite following the training 3 times I just couldn't get the loco to start rolling ! Watched your video, this one, took some notes, followed the notes and bingo! Got the train to start moving !! I've got the raildriver , it's my most used controller at the mo, love it, bit expensive here in the UK but it adds some immersion. Cheers, Daz, Leicester, UK.

    Im qualified on this territory, we load at .18mph, yes, that slow. 110 cars. split in half. takes about 5 hours to load. and you shove back down the hill with 6 handbrakes on. its a lot easier to control that way. also 8mph over the top of the mountain and and after the head end is through the tunnel, 15mph is the speed limit going down the mountain

    • @BluGames
      @BluGames  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      5hrs and 6 handbrakes sheehs! Im gonna have to try that handbrake idea and see if it works in the game

    • @adamcounterman7028
      @adamcounterman7028 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      thats how we do it. and just shove it back down hill, then we use slow speed control and still use the independant brake to control it, and then when that cant do it anymore, then we set minimum reduction of the automatic. and shove against the air.

    33:44 if you need to use the automatic brake with the dynamic, hold the independent in bail-off. It will make it so the automatic only applies to the rolling stock and not the locomotives, allowing the dynamics to do their job.

    Dude, I grew up in the northeast in a small town (no, I did not like it) on an old part of the Erie Canal. We had a freight line going through town because we had a grain silo servicing the line. Small population but big farming community and a lot of corn.
    I've been to Horseshoe Curve, not too far from where I used to live. You have to be a talented conductor to work the lines in the northeast. Constant gradient changes, turns, small towns and, of course, snow for four or five months of the year back in the day.
    Really like your custom controls. Must add a lot of enjoyment to the game. You have a great channel going here, my friend. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks.

  • @patches8291
    @patches8291 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    You needed to bail off your independent brake on the long downhill run to continue to have your dynamic braking effort at the highest amount. Also at the beginning on the video you mentioned your lead motor being LEAD and CUTIN…you’re correct, but you want all trailing locomotives in your consist in TRAIL CUTOUT…..lead/trail is your independent brake control….cut in/ cutout is your automatic control….if trailing units in your consist are TRAIL CUTIN they’re all going to be trying to maintain 90 psi on your brake pipe while your lead motor will be trying to maintain 80-75 depending on what kind of brake pipe reduction you are trying to make when you go to set automatic brakes.

    You said in the video that you were unable to use the slow speed controls? I was able to setup those controls on a similar scenario on the Horseshoe Curve DLC. Granted, I still had to occasionally increase and decrease the throttle due to it not being strong enough to maintain the speed on the grade. Maybe I did something wrong and it wasn't actually working when I thought it was?

    • @BluGames
      @BluGames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea it does work, but in this scenario once the coal begins loading, not long after the slow speed controls become too weak

    • @McLaren_2009
      @McLaren_2009 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely experienced that as well. The CSX tutorial on how to use the system implied that it was a "Set and forget" kind of system in which you can use any throttle position and it will just maintain the set speed, but with the HSC DLC you have to use an appropriate setting for the load and gradually increase it as the load gets heavier.

    I'm not sure it's mentioned in the comments BUT you can use the camera to un-couple the cars.
    There are NO rpms on a locomotive! It's measured in AMPS. They use electricity because it produces MAXIMUM torque at all notch settings. There is a speed limit setting that will keep your train at a constant speed while loading your coal cars. The MAXIMUM speed for loading is only 2 MPH! While in speed control it doesn't matter what notch your in.

    • @oneguyonechannel662
      @oneguyonechannel662 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There most definitely is RPMs on a train. Its just not the “correct” way to describe the engines spinning up

      @@Dr_Won_Hung_Lo true but I've heard some engineers say RPMs instead of AMPS but I would assume they are engineers of diesel locomotives not the kind you find on high speed railway or subways.
