That would not be possible😂 Seriously, the train would make an emergency brake due to the SiFa, a button pressed by the feet. If you leave it for a few seconds the train brakes automatically
Been a passender on the ICE a couple times now. It really is extremely silent and smooth you almost don‘t realize that your moving. Specially traveling at night you don‘t have any visual references to see how fast you going. It almost feels like you’re not moving until you look at one of the small screens in the cabin showing that you‘re currently moving at 300kph. It‘s a crazy feeling and a little scary
My fave part of this entire vid was "Hey babe, whatcha doin?" "Oh not much, just driving a train 160 kmh," "Okay well be safe. Dinner's ready." 😂 We love you guys ❤
Railroad engineering supervisor here. It’s intriguing to see that the elevation in curves and such seem to be appropriate for the speed the game wants you to operate at. Rumor is that Amtrak is in the works for some 165+ mph rail here in the foreseeable future.
I love taking the ICE in Germany! One of my favorite memories is coming out of the airport and directly onto the train. Great video!

Not sure if this is the second highest top speed in trains. The French TGV has already set records for wheeled trains at 571kph in a 2007 trial event. But in regular service, it's capped at 320kph, while the ICE has a service speed at 300.
slightly incorrect, the TGV you mentioned reached 574.8kph in the 2007 trail event on the LGV Est. And though the service speed for the ICE is different depending on which model is used, the service limit is 330kph for the all variants of the ICE3, yet all high speed lines in Germany have a speed limit of 300kph or lower, and only the ICE3MF variant reaches the higher yet still not maximum 320kph on the international service to Paris (coincidentally also on the LGV Est).

@@happygamer787 Thanks, I've been out-geeked on this one :D !
Only the 2nd fastest train in france though because the br 406 (ice 3) is allowed to go up to 330Kph only in france though, therefore makin the ice the fastest train in europe by 10kph...
The coolest thing i have ever experienced during my train traveler experience was by far watching high speed trains go by at over 200kmh (160mph if i'm not wrong) in stations. You are just waiting for you train at the station and the speakers go "a train is about to go by the station" so you look over on the tracks and you see this massive thing coming at 200kph,sometimes even 300 and it just zooms by in a matter of seconds.
I’ve been on the Shanghai train and the acceleration is so smooth that you don’t realize how fast you’re going until you look out the window. The top speed that we reached was 431 kph. Absolutely unreal.
11:10 Hate to BRAKE (budum tsss) it to ya buddy but that little "wind indicator", is actually used for coupling the train to another ICE 3. But i still love your enthusiasm for trains. I love trains too. Currently stuck with the free version of this game, but soon I won't be. You keep making these videos. TRAINS RULE.
*Although ICE is derived from "Intercity Express", if you show up in Germany saying "Ice", they will have no idea what you mean; it's pronounced "Ee--Tsay--Ay" (speaking from experience!).
Hey trev if you're looking for good routes to show the viewers you can always invest in London-brighton, Southeastern high speed are both great routes.
Did you know that the designer of the german train the shanghai maglev is based on - the transrapid - was designed by the same industrial esigner who also gave form to the ICE 3 youre driving right now. He also did the shinkansen 500 Series - which in my view is the most beautiful of the bunch. Alexander Neumeister really had an eye for crafting objects that just convey speed in a very distinct way
also while we're at it admiring engineering - the insane braking force is achieved by an electromagnetic induction brake system. So no mechanical parts that generate friction, only magnetic currents there. Really amazing tech
For most the test runs they did back in the early 2000s, as far as i know, they used a slightly altered version on wich they changed the transmission implementation to make higher speeds possible. So even if u put aside the fact that the train is arificially capped at 320kph, it would probably not make it up to 370kph anyways...
Hey there bud, at (6:16) you mention this train doesn't have a dynamic brake. But it does, it is a system called Advanced Rheostatic Braking. Which basically means its a clever automated system utilizing both braking systems together, meaning it will dynamically or in this case rheostatically lose speed or brake, before applying the actual pneumatic (air) brakes. This prevents not only wheelslip at higher speeds under braking (think of it as an ABS in cars but for trains) but also vastly reduce wear and tear on the actual brakes and pads etc., making this a very economical and safe way to control speed in high-speed trains. This system is not exclusive to the German ICE anymore, most modern high-speed trains are using an adaptation of this system nowadays, with a combined power/brake lever or a combined brake lever (Rheostatic/Pneumatic). Hope this helps you. Keep on training... choo choo Greetz from the Netherlands
Trev, can you hotkey the horns and bells and such to your controller? Would be cool to see some of the warning systems working on the trains as well. Loving the series
Sänk ju für traweling mit Deutsche Bahn. ICE 3 nach Köln fällt heute leider aus. Grund dafür ist erstaunlich nicht eine Verspätung aber betrunkene TH-camr Zugpersonal oder Zugfahrer
I might have to get this game just cause its different and interesting thanks for the great content hope all is well and if anyone reads this comments hope yall doing good too
Hey Trev you should get the LGV Mediterranee route. Its from a previous train sim world game but now they are all kinda part of the train sim world so its compatible with tsw5 and its the fastest route in the game. It lets you reach speeds of up to 340kph legally while driving a double decker train, insane! My favorite route
I've been on that train to Koeln (from Frankfurt). (Faster way to get from Frankfurt International up to Koeln.) You don't need the engineer to come out to ask you "are you seeing how fast we're going?" because they have little digital/LED displays that show the speed. I think that I topped out at 320 km/h when I did that trip, back in 2014. And yes, ICE/DB is awesome! And the red train is the inter-regional train. Took that from Koeln to Koenigswinter to see the Schloss Drachenburg.
Sound's not realistic at all, really... I recommend you to use the Soundmod that, well, I made, it improves it a lot and also makes it sound louder, which is realistic and simply better :P
That would be a big news story in Cologne if not whole Germany if an ICE approaches the central station with over 300 km/h :D By the way the city is designed pretty authentic - until I saw the cathedral....
Got 231mph outa my 1 also been crashing a lot during gameplay been ok the past week though pretty kool game that Train doesn't want to leave the track u feel it clinging on lol
You actually started your trip from Aachen, my hometown 😅 the little right hand curve and the bridge are there irl, but the station underneth the platforms does not look realistic at all 👀 you should try the RB (Regio-Bahn) from Cologne to Aachen 😅 Edit: come to Germany, but you're not gonna be impresses of the Deutsche Bahn since they are known for being late all the time :D
Not really the second highest speed train. The fastest is the Japanese bullet train. That has a service speed over 350 km/h. The French TGV has a service speed around 310 km/h and can bring you from Amsterdam to Paris in around 3 hours. It did a test drive over 450 km/h. Maglev trains will have a theoretical speed limit of around 1000 km/h but that is future we are talking here.
Imagine seeing the driver of the train you're riding get out of the cockpit and comes up to you saying "Are you seeing how fast were going?!"
That would not be possible😂
Seriously, the train would make an emergency brake due to the SiFa, a button pressed by the feet. If you leave it for a few seconds the train brakes automatically
@@mctsr2006 That's what makes this situation diabolical 😅
I took a trip on one of these in 2013.
They have monitors throughout the train that show the speed. Surprisingly, you really don’t even feel it.
I thought exactly the same thing as you 😂
Sitting in an ICE right now at 200km/h watching this video. I love your enthusiasm about these trains, makes me appreciate them so much more!
I like trains.
I hope you really do

Nice vid, what you called a jet wind measurements at the nose is a train connector The nose opens For multiple units to Connect
its the manual release handle for the coupler

Loving these train sim vids. Keep it up!
Yes, I definitely want to see the TGV!
Nice video Trev'! I'm from Germany and I'm riding on this ICE pretty much every week to go to university! It surely is awesome, but often delayed!
11:12 that's the coupling cover lever, inside of that there's a coupling mechanism similar to the freight trains one
Love these videos, please keep making more of them!
This video is ICE cold ❄️ hehe love this! ❤
The brakes are so good in German highspeed trains bc the energy of the breaking gets back into the energy system. It's basically getting recycled
Just like a normal car on the German autobahn
euhm, go via location means that you don't have to stop, stop at location means that you need to stop

thanks for this video trev and i really love this train i have even been on it
A nice train and be careful high speed!
Drove this the other day and said man Trev would love this😂 did you watch Unstoppable by the way? Great vid my guy!
Thats cool. I live about a mile from the acela corridor, and it passes thru pretty darn fast. After 5 years its still pretty cool to watch.
Hi Trevor, whether people like the videos or not. Stick to being you, I love every video you upload no matter the game
At the Inquest: "We had a bit of a stopping issue". 😁
Finally, I've been waiting for this video like a sneaker release
8:23 i dont think you had to stop there 😅
I would love to see you do more hurricane videos.
I’m in Texas crying wishing we had trains like these here 😭
Love to see more videos for this train❤
I might have to get this game just cause its different and interesting thanks for the great content hope all is well and if anyone reads this comments hope yall doing good too
10:42 Acting like a child telling his mom why he doesn't wanna go to dinner
That’s probably a Pitot tube on the front, which measures air pressure to determine speed
Pay attention to see how the passengers also have the KM/H display above the Doors of the passenger wagons ^^ (the orange screens inside)
Rode these in germany this past September and can confirm these are fast 🤣

Time to run some Aussie Iron Ore behemoths.
Not on this game it isnt, cos their aint any, Aussie routes are more Trainz simulators wheelhouse not dovetails
No body gets off at stohlberg and the ICE doesn't stop there in real live! But sim texture looks amazing

Let’s gooooo🎉
