Thank you. I have never knit a sweater, but, I want to. I like The Easy One, I also like the third one you showed. I am a new subscriber to your channel . I like light sweaters. I am hot natured. Have a terrific week.
Thank you Whitney! Taking the brave plunge into knitting my first sweater, and your video was so helpful! I’m plus size and a beginner, and I so appreciate your insight! I chose/have purchased the Easy Bulky One pattern and yarn is on the way! Again, thank you!
I truly enjoyed this episode. Thank you. I didn't do any of the typical things when I started knitting. My first "real" project after making a scarf was a pair of socks made with light fingering weight yarn. Then I made a sweater with sport weight yarn.
A super helpful list, thank you for the time you spent compiling it. I last made a sweater about 50 (yes, five-zero) years ago, so have rolled myself back to beginner level.
Nothing wrong with going back to basics to get yourself comfortable with sweater knitting again! And we all love a good classic sweater without too much fuss… honestly, I find that those are my most worn sweaters because they have a lot of versatility 🙂
IMPULSE BUY!!!! That Palm Your Knits by Knitting Tipsy is everything!! Can't wait to cast on. Thank you for sharing, these are always such a well thought out videos. Keep 'em comin'
The Harvest Cardigan was the first sweater I ever knit. I would also recommend the weekender sweater by Drea Renee Knits, it was an easy sweater for me to make.
Hello fellow 🇨🇦. First time viewer although I ‘know” you from your Penrose knits test knitting. This was a great video. Thank you for the work you put into researching all those patterns. I’m a long time knitter and love lace work and cables but have no confidence in knitting sweaters 🤦🏼♀️. I often find the neck too wide and lack the experience to bring it in🤷♀️. Maybe I’ll try one of these easier ones but I think I’d get bored with the plain body - endless acres of stockinette 🤣. Again, thanks for the video. Loved the yarn choice for your Lento. The neck would be too wide for me but I’ve seen so many and each looks different! Loved the pinky yarn though, reminds me of unicorns and whimsy. Feminine 🥰 like you.
Hi Whitney! re-watching this video while frogging my crochet sweater because it is WAY too warm for me, hoping to remake it knitted, since knitting uses less yarn per square inch. This will be my first knitted wearable i've ever made for myself. I'm not sure which pattern I'll land on, but I'm excited! A video i would absolutely LOVE would be about what you'd need to get started on your first top down raglan sweater as a plus size person - picking a pattern, picking an affordable but reliable yarn, maybe a ballpark budget to expect? and the notions you'll want. stitch keepers? needle stoppers? lifelines? row counters? also Needles!! Needles are a huge worry for me- i have a 66" bust so I'm having to combine circular needle cords and I'm VERY nervous about them disconnecting while I'm knitting. Something like the pattern round ups for notions or yarn would also be great - I'd click into a "top 10 low-maitenance yarns" or similar video from you in a heartbeat. I hope this doesn't come off as me being dissatisfied- I absolutely love your channel and I do feel confident enough to get started on my own! these are just some thoughts I had. Thanks for your time!
I have a video called Top 20 Worth the Work Size-Inclusive Knitting Patterns that features more intermediate and advanced patterns 🙂 It’s kind of hard to draw a line between those two skill levels because everyone has a different opinion on what type of patterns should be intermediate and what should be advanced based on the techniques in the pattern. Hope this helps!
Even for an experienced knitter, these are lovely palette cleansers. I often use thd Flax or Flax Light, and the Optional Short Rows pdf, as a reference work for my own ideas.
Another wonderful informative vlog which saved everyone the trouble of scrolling for beginner patterns. Thank you. I have my eye on a few. Would also enjoy seeing some more of your great book reviews. Haven’t seen Doyle in a while! Greetings from almost spring like weather near Stratford, Ontario
Haha! He’s still here, but I don’t want to drag him into all my videos 😂 I’ve got a few book reviews ready to share in my next podcast episode, but my current projects are taking me quite awhile 😅 I’m excited to talk about them once they’re done though!
Thank you so much Aoife! The research is a bit of work, but honestly the editing is so much more work 😅 I’m on Ravelry all the time because I think I like looking for patterns just as much as I like knitting!
I'm just starting out with designing knit and crochet patterns and this list is really helpful! I need to learn more about how design and fit elements can and can't be proportionally graded. Please do more of these roundups, love your channel, and I just subscribed ❤
Great video Whitney! My first sweater was the DRK Everyday Sweater and I think it was a perfect choice. Even doing the short rows, there are so many good tutorials on YT to follow and make it not daunting. I enjoyed this list and have added a few to my list to make!
Hi from Germany! I love your channel! Thank you very much for putting in so much work. I appreciate it a lot! I was wondering If there was a resource how to do a scoop or v-neck in a top down sweater. Any tipps maybe?
The only thing I can suggest is to find a pattern you like that has the type of neckline you’re looking for. Ravelry is the best place to look because you can refine your search by the type of neckline, for example a v neck. Hope that helps 🙂
Thank you. I am currently knitting the Warm-Up sweater. I just finished Calliope, also by Espace Tricot. Very easy knit, learned some new techniques. I ballooned the sleeves to keep it from looking to oversized. I am fairly new to sweaters. I mostly knit socks.
That’s great news! I’ve seen lots of examples of Espace Tricot’s patterns and they’ve always been on my radar, but I haven’t made one yet. Mousseaux is probably my favourite 😍
I love your round up videos! Easy A is definitely going on my list. Could you do one on tanks/sleeveless next? Re gauge swatches… I only hate them because if/when it’s the wrong gauge then I have to do it all over again (and maybe another time after that) with different needles. It’s so annoying! Now of course logically it’s better than needing to re-do an entire sweater that’s didn’t turn out the right size but…I still hate swatching! 😭
Maybe it’s because I’m a monogamous knitter, but I love swatching, especially when I’m in between projects and don’t know what I want to make next, I search a few yarns and decide which one I want to work on the most 😊 I’ll put tanks on my list, but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to do it, so it might be a bit of a wait.
Just now watched your video. Great by the way! I found a few that look totally doable and one in particular really loved and would do first. What I am desperately looking for is a pattern for a bulky weight sweater I can put a zipper in. I am past the point of putting on a pullover sweater and staying like that all day. I waffle between being cold and overly warm and need a zipper to regulate the temperature. Do you have any near-beginner, Plus size, bulky sweater patterns that includes a zipper? Please please say Yes!
I used mini skeins from advent calendar for the fingering so unfortunately the yarn isn't available anymore, but the mohair is Hedgehog Fibres Kid Silk in Hush 💜
The needle size is i think more important than the yarn weight. Correct needle size important for success of the pattern, but you could choose the yarn according to how lose you want the'hang'.
No, the purpose of my pattern roundup videos is to highlight size-inclusive patterns for adults, especially for fellow plus size knitters who struggle to find patterns that fit them.
I loved this episode. Thanks for the great effort it takes to research and look until you go squint. Much appreciated ❤
Thanks for the research and the info. Nice pattterns for all knitting skills. Kisses from Athens, Greece.
Thanks soooooooo much for this information, I've been looking for size inclusive and easier for me to learn.
Yay! I’m so glad you find the list helpful 😊

Great, helpful and encouraging podcast. Thank you.
Sooooo glad there is a "plus size" sweater pattern! 🥳🥳🥳 i have been on the hunt , and upset.... then youuu!!! Came along! 💙💙💙💙🥳

ended up choosing the winter league!
I love the sweater you're wearing! I would love to know what that yarn is!
I loved this! Thank you. I'd love to see a list for every level up to advanced. And one of your fav. patterns of all time

Thank you some great patterns included ❤

Right?! I love how well these patterns work if you want to build off them and make something one of a kind!

My daughter have wished as a christmas present that I Will teach her how to knit. I Will show her this episode.
I haven't used circular needles before 😮

0:12 What pattern is this gorgeous moon sweater?!
Have you done a roundup on patterns for children?
No, the purpose of my pattern roundup videos is to highlight size-inclusive patterns for adults, especially for fellow plus size knitters who struggle to find patterns that fit them.
🥰 < Hugs n Thankyou❣
Nearly 6minutes in to the video, no patterns yet, just prattling....
Oh but it's the chatting we like... 😊
