So glad you’re not doing vlogmas if you don’t love it! Life is too short to spend it doing things that bring you stress. Also I’m so excited for your advent pattern roundup and the everything you knit video ❤
I love that you only make content that brings you joy because the cozy happiness comes across so beautifully and authentically in your videos 🥰🥰💞💞. You can just see it in your eyes and face which WIPs you're excited and passionate about and it gets me feeling excited for my own projects 😂😂🥰🥰. Can't wait for the new advent video and also your 2024 knitting reflections 💞💞💞💞
Yay!!!! I'm so glad you're excited about my upcoming videos 💋 I try really hard to balance content that makes me happy and content that I think will appeal to viewers, so I'm really glad to know that comes across ☺️😘
I am still so blown away by your Howl jacket girl!!!!!! 🤩💞👏🏽🤩💞👏🏽🔥🔥🔥. Like, damn. YOU MADE THAT! Its incredible!!!!!! You crushed it babe 🥰🥰🥰🥰. Loved seeing all your progress on your WIPs especially that Lento!!! OMGGGGGG 😱🥵🌶️💋. What a show stopper!
Thank you so so much Chelsea!!! 🥰 I'm so freaking proud of myself and I definitely credit the magickal Makealong with helping me finish it ✨ I'm SO excited to finish my Lento and wear it for Christmas 🎄
That cami makes me actually want to knit a cami. I've been shy about it cause I've seen so many with sketchy fit but that one looks like the fit is really great.
I absolutely LOVE the fit of it and there are a lot of customization options to help you get the best fit possible ☺️
Hi Whitney! Lots of lovely projects both in progress and planned for the near future❤ I watched your vlogmases the past two years and enjoyed them, but if making them didn't bring you joy you 100% made the right decision quitting vlogmas all together. I'm excited to watch the others video that will come in the next weeks and especially the "what I knit in 2024 video"🎉
Your Into the Woods jumper is so gorgeous!!💜✨
So many lovely choices. I love this series(?) of videos!
I can't wait for your video discussing the mental health behind knitting. As someone who relies on knitting to help with mental health I like to hear it talked about.
It definitely had an impact on my making this year so I really want to make a point of talking about it instead of going through and listing my projects made this year with no context ❤️
Knock on wood on your head? That's a Finnish thing... You're not of Finnish decent by any chanse? 🤩 Be that as it may, thank you for your absolutely lovely channel; I subscribed after 3 minutes of watching! ❤
Awwww thank you so much! No Finnish ancestry that I know of! 😊
@knittedbywhitney no matter, your channel is still lovely 🥰
love your channel! Check out the carnivore diet, if you are interested. I lost a lot of weight and maintained it. thanks!
Ahhh the Arkells! their concerts are so fun
I don't even like concerts and I had such a good time! And one of my favourite local musicians Joel Plaskett opened for them and played my favourite song!
The Carnivore Diet is known to help individuals who are ADHD...you can google Carnivore Lifestyle.
Wow, the jacket should be featured on the runways of Milan. Stunning
I just wanted to say that I just found your channel and I subscribed. I love your knits and your recent video using mohair and suri. I love the feminine patterns that you share. Many thanks! Looking forward to trying these patterns.
Great sweater you have on!! Good luck with your plans!! I’ll try to catch your Dec. videos but like most folks I’ll have lots to do.
Hi Whitney! Love your videos! I was wondering if you could answer a question about your Lento sweaters… Do you knit them according to the pattern exactly? When I knit mine, I found that the Raglan increases after the German short rows on my left side didn’t lineup. Have you encountered this problem? Thanks so much!
I haven't had a problem with mine not lining up. I've had issues with the stitch counts not adding up properly, which I talked about in my podcast episode last year when I finished my purple version. With my red version I'm not doing the kfb increases, I'm doing a backwards loop cast on method instead. I also started my red version with the stockinette section on the larger needles and picked up for the folded neckband on smaller needles afterwards. Other than those small changes, I follow the pattern as written.
@ Ah, ok. My local yarn shop suggested a different increase may solve my problem, so maybe I will try that as well. Thanks so much for getting back to me.
I love your videos
That Soufflé top is going to be a dream 😍 I’m so excited for your Everything I Knit in 2024!
Thank you so much Ali! I'm really excited to take a tour through my knits and chat about how my mental health impacted my creative process this year 😊
Thank you!!!
Flying is hell for people of size, and unfortunately for the people that sit next to us and have their space encroached upon. I always feel so bad and self-conscious for that reason.
I'm lucky that my seat neighbour was my husband and he loves me. If it's not him I feel self-conscious too, but I'm done feeling bad for something that isn't my fault because it's really unfair that we get blamed for seat sizing that is FAR too small for 90% of people.
@@knittedbywhitney The only person I know who is comfortable on a plane is my daughter, who is 5'3" and 115 pounds
I just wanted to say: I love that I get to spend time watching you talk about knitting :)) ❤
Awww thank you so much! 🥰
I love and really appreciate your honesty about your hibernating WIPs and things you’ve chosen not to progress with. I think it can be so easy on social media to want to show everything as ‘positive’ and make sure we complete things rather than just moving on or waiting if they don’t work out. I definitely know I can feel guilty if I don’t finish things that I’ve talked about on the podcast, so I really appreciate this much more relaxed mindset - I could learn a lot from this I think! ❤
Absolutely! There's definitely added pressure when you show something on a podcast or in another video. Because planning videos are new for my channel, I wanted to make sure they were still me, and I often change my mind about projects I plan to make or ones that I've started and am not gelling with 😂 I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Seeing all your hibernating knits and the new things you have cast on has reassured me that I've done the right thing this morning casting on something new and buying new yarn!
Yes! Cast on energy!!! Follow the joy 😄
I'm making an easy eyelet yoke lite. It has a stockinette folded collar and once I split the sleeves and tried on the collar fit really nicely (it does have short rows in the back)
I think I have the whole EEY collection of patterns 😂 I'm hopeful I'll have enough yarn for the folded neckband
I only just got around to watching this last instalment of your stash series so excuse the slightly late comment. This series has been such a welcome distraction during this truly hectic time in my life, but also locally and globally. I find it immensely helpful to tune out for a bit watching something calm, joyous and uncomplicated, so thank you for providing just that. On a different note, I completely understand why you feel a bit iffy about your hp themed yarn, but I’d like to offer a different perspective. Harry Potter may have been written by who we now know is a weirdo bigot, but that’s not where it ends. The book’s editing, the different cover designs, the movie production, the acting, the design and production of merch, the different theme park attractions, all of it was built by hundreds if not thousands of different people, many of which we know to be allies of the trans community, including many of the actors in the films. Hell, many of them were probably part of the lgbt community themselves! That’s before even mentioning the yarn dyer, who is the person you truly supported by purchasing the yarn, not jkr. For that reason alone I think we shouldn’t feel bad for enjoying the countless creations that came out of the books, because it was a community effort. Yes, the figurehead of the community is now dying on a strange little hill, but that shouldn’t write off all of the wonderful creations made by non-weirdos who were inspired by her work.
Love that raspberry cordial yarn ♥️
Love your cardigan and tank very pretty and both look fabulous on you and I agree both are a perfect fit 🫶🏼 I’m very impressed with your button band bind-off yarn match 😮 Holy guacamole that jacket 🤩 I think you nailed it and amazed you say you’re a beginner at sewing 😮 Great podcast Anne ❣️au
Thank you so much for this lovely selection of patterns!
I've been sewing for a long time and you really hit out of the park on that jacket. The fact that you used those materials and didn't have a meltdown is amazing!
Thank you so much! I think I just didn't let myself think about them being difficult fabrics to work with and that kept the meltdowns at bay 😂 I had a mini meltdown when I had to redo the second front piece though, that was awful!
Hi Whitney!! Such a pleasure to meet with you again on the podcast🥰 Yours is one of my favourite and though I really appreciated the stash tour series, it's good to see you here again, to talk about your projects😘 The pink ribbed cami is absolutely lovely and also the red Lento is AMAZING! It's gonna be a stunning stunning Christmas sweater😍
Thank you so much! I'm hopeful I can finish it in time 🎄
that backwards loop cast on is game changing 🤯i tried it for my new sweater cast on and it looks amazing, and it even works for purl side increases as long as you do it backwards!! i dont think i will ever use M1L/R ever again lol
RIGHT?! It's probably my favourite knitting technique I have ever learned!!! 😍
I haven't used circular needles before 😮
Love the podcast, I get either a tote bags (or beverage containers in gift shops) for memento , I separate my wips with all the yarn for it. That’s my organization. Thanks for your comments at the end.
I bought so many tote bags on our trip! 🙈😂
That jacket! So good Whitney! I have fallen in love with the Townhouse Smoke and Mirrors! Good luck in your hunt for a lovely pattern to go with it. Some possibilities I happen to have in my favourites on ravelry, that are drop shoulder, include Telopea, Lady Banks, Oleander, Hanae, and Fluffisimo. Oh - and I just noticed a new pattern published - Marta V Basic Jumper.
It's such a gorgeous colour, isn't it? 💜😍
I’m SUPER impressed by that jacket 😮😮😮😮
Thank you so much! ☺️
Whitney! That jacket is FANTASTIC! As a beginner sewer, it's amazing that you did a jacket with that kind of piecework AND a lining. None of those things are easy. You did a great job modding the fit and I love your gold trim. I love all of your Romance sweaters. It's nice to have a more casual version of your wedding cardi. I know what you mean about wearing acrlic yarn. I'm in central Texas and it is hot or hotter and humid 9+ months of the year. Acrylic is a no for me unless it's a small percentage.
Thank you so much! Acrylic has a time and a place and humid climates are not it 😂
Your jacket is an absolute masterpiece! I can’t even fathom the amount of work that went into it ❤
Thank you so much! It was a real labour of love, but worth every minute 🥰
what a wonderful podcast! your passion for knitting, yarn and patterns is great joy to watch! and your intro is absolutely beautiful! And..... you are wearing Jane Austen around your neck! 👍🏻😻 wow! greetings from Austria!
Beautiful knits, Whitney. I enjoyed hearing about your honeymoon. I know at least 4 couples who have visited Portugal recently!
It's a really popular destination right now! We found crowds pretty much everywhere we went 😅
Your jacket is beautiful !
Thank you!
Ooh that jacket looks fabulous, you should be very proud 😊
Thank you so much! 🥰
Still obsessed with your cami! I need to make one next year. For bespoke seamstress makes, I completely agree about the costs being justified. But I want to call out calling small maker seamed garments "handmade" is misleading because all clothing is handmade. Technology just isn't at the point where sewing machines can be automated for seaming. Things like cutting, folding, embroidery, knitting and weaving can be automated, but seaming requires too much micro adjustment to keep even and straight. So every seam on everything you've ever worn was sewn by a person at a sewing machine. When I started sewing and learned that all fast fashion is made by people sitting at sewing machines doing the same thing I do, it really opened my eyes to just what it means that the seamstresses making fast fashion are only earning a few cents per item. I think most of us ~know~ fast fashion has issues (and I also know the reasons behind people who do buy fast fashion), but I don't think the average person realizes that all clothes are handmade because it literally cannot be automated yet. Your lento is looking so good! I'm loving the color and fit! What a wildly good deal you got on that yarn!
You're so right Megan! Using the word handmade was misleading and bespoke is a better word for those one of a kind made-to-measure pieces. I'm trying to improve my sewing skills so I can rely less and less on fast fashion, but sometimes that's all that's available to me in my budget. I'm SO happy with the 03 Rib Cami and the Lento! I feel like after having a troublesome first half of the year with projects not working out, I'm enjoying some well-earned winners now 😊
Whitney that jacket is SO IMPRESSIVE. I’ve been sewing clothes for 15 years and I’d hesitate to take on a pattern like that. Very well done!
Thank you so much! I really was forced into trying my hand at it because of the lack of size inclusivity among costumes, but it totally worked in my favour because I didn't have time to be afraid of taking on such a challenging project, I just went for it!
Ahhh... i also just learned about the backwards loop cast on as a m1 recently! I love it too! Thanks for the lovely podcast Whitney! Have a great November!
It's such a game changer! Thanks so much 😊
