I played Brigandine Legend of Forsena on PS1 before and let me just tell you the AI in this game is so brutal. Expect to win battles at the cost of some of your favorite monsters.
Not really, played on the hardest difficulty and i won all my battles like this.
1. End turn with my bulkiest unit to bait the enemy to rush in with their troops
2. On my turn, Kill the enemy highest damaging unit, usually their hero so that they will retreat with their monsters.
Now the enemy vastly weaker than yours allowing you to slowly kill the remaining army for exp. This also weakens their country strength because now the ai has to use it mana to replenish their army whith level 1 monster which are also super easy to kill. Did this tactic for every battle and it was super easy.

When you play the game at higher difficulties, it requires a LOT more strategy than Fire Emblem. A lot of it is micromanaging your armies. Who to put on standby to guard your bases, who to put on quests, which monsters you assign to each unit according to their roles, analyzing terrain before fighting as it plays a huge part in your attack strategy.
Its not as hard to understand as people make it out to be. This is a great game in it's own right. Fans of strategy rpgs and fire emblem need to check this game out

hello. Question. In this game, is there specific unit turn order or its you then your enemy? (like in Fire Emblem games)
@@stupidreligionz, Turn Order is displayed on the right side of the screen while in battle. It is determined by highest to lowest level. If levels are the same, then Agility determines who acts first. It's important to note that this applies only to Leaders and not monsters. Once a leader gets their turn, all the monsters under their command act with them.

Picked up Legend of Forsena on the sale rack on a whim and it ended up being the most played PS1 game I owned. It's really good to see this franchise get the respect it deserves. This is a really addictive game with a very high learning curve, so know what kind of games you enjoy before you shell out for its top shelf price. If you do enjoy strategy games and stick with it however, you definitely won't regret it, and will probably be returning to play it for years to come.
Would really appreciate if they have the cutscenes back tho, that was what hooked me onto the Brigandine series

Having played hundreds of hours on the original legend of forsena and then grand edition, got to say the a.i is still easy to beat. Also disappointed they didn’t add in animated cutscenes. Although this sequel is a tad expensive, I’m playing for the nostalgia and it’s still a great game. Hope more updates in the way

It’s not good compared to the 1st the creators of this game where very lazy sorry. Let’s just say they made there money off of us it’s super easy to beat the map is super small and once you beat it what’s the point on keeping on playing there is nothing meaningful to unlock of any meaningful characters worth getting who ever made this version was very lazy

I like the strategy part, but what turned me down quite a bit was that not even your MCs/knights had special apperances, everyone looked the same.
I loved brigandine so much, I even hunted down the upgraded japanese version and learned to play it without translations :) good times, Playing on the hardest difficutly, the AI is actually pretty predictable as it will seek out your weakest unit to instantly kill, meaning if you are a brutal commander you can set up bait monsters to die so you get the winning position, using this strat, and save scumming to get the 3 best quests heroes as early as possible, I was able to conquer the map in as few turns as possible. On the otherhand I also wished there was more time in the original game, as the time limit prevents you from really maxing out every possible hero/monster... but then again by that point you are just keeping 1 space left for the enemy who you play with from time to time... anyway I hope I can get my hands on this new Brigandine and I hope the characters are just as memorable as the original cast
I like this kind of games. Lotsa micro managing of your units. Played my first with ogre battle and ROTK games on the snes. This is a sequel i believe, i havent played the first game on the ps1, but hearing that they havent improved much. They shouldve added new elements and penalized some elements in the game. Especially the movement of rune knights its too OP. And the time restriction on the difficulty setting is really not needed, you coulve scrapped it and added a different feature that would add more value to the game. I've envision this game like in the first generation of chaos game. I like the class system but could still be improved and more monsters please. Just go all out. Give more monsters and give them all passive skills to make them more unique.
I really hate they removed the 3d fight animation it made the game for me T_T

The first one is one of my favorite games of all time. Had a huge impact on me. Just found out this came out, and I’m crazy excited! It looks like a perfect sequel. May not be for everyone, but I love it!

No, and only because Nobunaga has an emphasis on war simulation. This game is a lighter on the sim elements, but has a more fantasy story to keep you invested.
Noisy Pixel So basically it is limited compared to NA or ROTK then in a sense where after playing through all the factions you basically experienced all the game has to offer? Is there anything that sets campaigns apart other than faction choices like randomness of any sort?

I played the demo and actually enjoyed it (not surprising because TRPG is my kinda games) but the price is too much for me. Heard there was a 3D animation but it got cut off in the final game version? I'd probably wait for a sale.

This is a game with a predecessor that came out 22 years ago, for the sole reason that they brought it back is a blessing. Not many studios have the guts to do this! For that reason alone I find the price to be justifiable. Though I'm a bit biased as I'm a die hard fan of the original hehe
Is it just me or Runersia has less monsters compared to the older Brigandine on PS1?

It wasn’t reviewed correctly it is definitely no where near a 8 out of ten especially to fans that played the 1st. It has very low amount of monsters to summon there upgrades where way less impacting then the 1st game and for the amount of money this game cost they should of done a lot more I mean we should get a lot more then the 1st game since this game came from the ps1 but sadly it’s a downgrade version of it.

Interesting. At first glance, I was afraid it was going to be another case of a lousy game that just relies on erotic art to sell copies. This sounds like it's a good game with erotic art. It's on sale currently. I think I'll give it a try. Thanks for the review. 👍🏻

It depends on the level of the rune knight. Higher level means you go first. If same level agility stat will be used on who will go first.
