Thank you - you saved me from an awful paper jam that I couldn't find at first and when I did I had no idea how I was going to get the paper out. Thought I was going to have to take the printer in to HP - but after watching this video I got it out. Really appreciate it
Great video, carefully done. Working on my A910g, I followed this video step-by-step, and found the last bits of paper that I had missed earlier. Many thanks to the HP crew for providing such excellent support years after warranty expiration.
+D. E. Fix You're welcome! Really happy to know that the issue is fixed and the video was helpful. Appreciate your efforts and thanks for the feedback.
Thanks, I thought my printer was dead as there was paper stuck between the rollers inside - I didn't know you could lift the top like that. A very quick and simple fix. Thanks again
Oh yes. These instructions may seem a bit obsessive when it comes to checking with a torch (flash light) .. But I had cleared the jam that cause my initial error.. I had cleared all of it yet still the printer insisted I clear the jam. So I followed this video and checked every orifice I could .. to find small scraps of paper that had clearly been there a while. Fixed
No repair support for this printer here in UK. After 1-year and 49-days a 'phantom paper jam' and the £140 "investment" turned into an expensive 17kg book stopper.
Nice, professionally done video. Unfortunately, this printer is junk, and the 16+ minutes that it will take you to complete these steps will likely be a waste of time. Most paper jams with this model cannot be fixed, and paper jams are not the only issues with this printer. Waiting on this printer to go through self-checks and printhead cleanings is very frustrating, and have often lasted so long that the screen times-out and has to be touched to turn it back on. Best thing to do is to properly discard the printer and purchase a non-HP printer (i.e., Canon).
+Michelle maguire Please review the steps in the "An 'Original Jam: Clear jam, and then press OK' Message Displays for HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One (A909) and Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One (A910) Printer Series" document ( ow.ly/106lYf ) to ensure you have checked all the nooks and crannies in the printer for any debris. Please let me know the results.
+Michelle maguire It could be something other than paper that is causing the jam, so it could be harder to see, such as a bit of plastic, or staple or paperclip. Anything that could have fallen in or been pulled through with a piece of paper and has gotten wedged somewhere.
The only thing that can fix an HP 8500 office jet is a different brand printer. I now have two Epsons. They both have worked great since I bought them. The HP was a turd from the first cartridge change. All downhill after the start up ink ran out.
