Awesome thanks dude. Got my black printhead finally working!! I had taken the printheads out before for alcohol rinse, but the black dried up. I took it apart thanks to ur video and did internal alcohol rinse and left the parts a bit wet, thankfully I had bottles of ink from Amazon to refill. That's probably the most important thing about this method, you need ink ready to refill the printhead. But yea, I didn't let them dry out completely to prevent the ink from clogging again and did about 5 alignments/cleanings or more... took awhile but got it working.
There are more things to do for success: 1) Start with a good running warm/hot water flush to dislodge as much dried up ink as possible 2) Try also using "classic" windex which I found does a good job of dissolving ink, but you may have to let it sit overnight or longer, and get one of those two spouted funnels (ebay) which you seat over the two inlet orifices (so the print head needs to be assembled and either filled with ink, if the areas around the jets look good, or partially filled with windex or print head cleaning solution). Then use the outlet sealer which comes with the funnel and provides a silicon outlet tube for mounting a syringe body over the print head jets area in order to apply suction and/or pressure to force the ink or solution back and forth, or just out through the print head area. This solution or ink is what is added to the funnel tubes/ reservoirs. The idea is to use pressure and suction to recover the normal flow and break up the clogs around the jets. Not much flow will take place, just enough to swish the solution in and out a little. 3) Having done that normally you would take the print head apart again, clean it with water if necessary, fill it about 2/3 or so full of ink, and put a cover over the print head orifices until you get it assembled, so the ink will not leak out, which it will do if uncovered. 4) After sealing the print head parts back together, shake the print head somewhat to dislodge air bubbles in the screen at the bottom of the ink well. 5) Then hold the print head upside down, take off the cover you put on over the jet area, and apply positive air pressure to each of the two silicone sealing orifices, which normally will be on top of the print head when installed, but now need to be at the bottom. They are the clear silicone round orifice seals. The pressure has to be applied from below with a suitable syringe so as to make a good seal on the silicone seal hole so the air bubbles come out the top. Doing this carefully while observing the orifice area you will usually see a quantity of bubbles escape, which is crucial. Try to apply just enough pressure to force out all the bubbles so that then a nice clear flow of ink appears. You don't need to do the pressure too long or too much, just so a nice clear welling up of ink appears. Attached to the top part of the print head and sitting inside the ink wells are things like a butterfly valve which expands when the pressure is applied forcing the air bubbles out. Then clean off everything.
+Merrill Sloan , if you ever get a chance, put up a video of your description you have described here. I think you would help thousands and get a lot of hits on TH-cam! Thanks
I am bookmarking this video-thanks for the great hacking job. I think my issue is an "end of life" issue as both print heads errored out at exactly the same time. So looking for how to reset this.
Where can I buy the bb's? I think I washed mine down the sink when I was washing out the CYAN/MAGENTA printhead. My printer still says "The following printhead has a problem: black/yellow" And I didn't lose the bb's on the black/yellow one.
+Eternal Hope Honestly, I don't know if you can buy the BBs separately. I just happened to have purchased a used printhead on eBay and it turned out to be already broken so I just saved the BBs from that one.
Great video's on the 8500a, thank you! I have cleaned the print head, still a problem. If the vacuum pump was bad, would it effect the other print head?
In a nutshell, don't take it apart, try soaking it overnight first. If you are taking it apart, you'll also need to prime it with inks and also sucks the air infiltration with a syringe (you need to buy the kit), which this video failed to mention. Just get a printhead in ebay. it's alot cleaner .
Thank you for the video. I followed the instructions and cleaned the head. Now what is the next step, should I install it on the printer or should I have to fill it with ink first, if so, how?
My printhead was clogged, did not print in yellow, then after a lot of test prints, automatic cleaning procedures I ended up with a printhead error on the printer. I saw a video with a solution that refilling the printhead with the special tool that sucks off unwanted air from inside and pulls the ink should help with the error. I don't have that special tool but I will try to disassemble printhead, flush it, and refill manually. Do you think will printer detect my unclogged printhead normally, without error?
Hello i recently installed a yellow print head and got printer interface which seem ok.Then error code C00EOO60 appeared and can not move forward with printer setup.Any ideas?
You are on the right track, but if you intend to develop any more DIY videos that require close-up imaging, please change out your camera. Watching the video with the lens shifting in and out of focus is very distracting.

why not buy a large refillable cartridge on Ebay, I used mine for 10 years. only refilled twice. Super convenient, much better than change cartridge once every 2 months.
@@vicever08 The bigger problem is HP's ink cartridge ARC chips which now incorporate non-hp cartridges that prevent the printer from running after the chips have been tagged as empty.
Followed your directions, my printer heads were dirty.
Your video fixed our problem!
Mahalo!

Выручил, братишка!))) Благодарю.
Кто не понял - скотч обязателен, ибо в этих каналах шарики и их не видно под краской. Остальное интуитивно.

I totally agree with you. @Merrill Sloan you can do it.
Holy crap... I'd rather spend the money on new printheads. Seriously.
I love how 6 minutes in, you mention that you definitely need some weird thing that no one has. lol
Very good information.......Thanks

Where can I get the little metal balls? I think my bf lost one and that's why my yellow suddenly doesn't work...
Thank you for the video. I followed the instructions and cleaned the head. Now what is the next step, should I install it on the printer or should I have to fill it with ink first, if so, how?
It will fill automatically from the cartridge.
You probably already figured that out since your post was 2 weeks old. LOL

Its really helpful, where can I buy those BB's in case I lost? Give me link PLEASE

REALLY gr8 Job √√
Informative. Real bad focusing on this video though
after cleaning and drying the print head, do I need to refill it with ink or does the printer automatically do it from the cartridges?
I want to know this as well. Hope somebody enlighten us.
Your ink cartridges will fill the printer heads automatically.
My printer 8500a cost $99.00. Each printhead cost $80.00. Ink set cost $75.00. Cheaper to just buy new printer. When will ink prices go down?

CAN WE CHANGE THE SILICON VALVE OF INK TUBE THAT IS AT PRINTEHEAD SIDE????
thanks for the video! Just one tiny critique. Sliver is the word. Not slither. Slither is what a snake does. Not trying to be a jerk. Just saying.
Who cares?
X_PATHOGEN_X you did; enough to comment, anyway.
Did you take out the fine screens on the bottom of the cavities?
+Jim Backer Nope
Where can I order spare bb's?
But with that fine screen or sponge the flashlight impossible to see...
y a-t-il en français. Merci
Spinning arrows.
No play...
Me?
You?
TH-cam?
Hp desigent t1120 heada error
you need a microscope to clean your printhead????that's insane. I will accept planned obsolesence as default and buy a new one.
Millenial comment if ever there was one, they are planning their own obsolescence..
Just don't buy HP... they think wallets are like ink cartridges.
ALMOST 20MIN JUST TO SHOW THIS.. BLABLA.. WASTING TIME.. HAHA
Why aren't you tending your oil fields?
Может кто переведет?
