Yea I hated the battle system and the game in general it was tedious, repetitive, battle system sucked, and some of the boss battles were frustrating I just finished the game today I had to force myself through this game

I finally caved ...like everyone else in the comments the battle system was not fun . I gave it a go but in the end I was not feeling it.....so I'll sit back and listen to the magic from your voice and then on to the next games

@@eclecticreader961 at the beginning I was very willing to quit but I felt like I can't continue without playing this game. I would feel awful if I skipped one without beating it. I was finally able to beat it and I feel proud of myself. I usually spam lethal frame for boss battles but used a creative deck for the final boss. I'm so glad I kept trying.
I literally lasted 43 mins.

Yeah, me too, i didnt expect the game to be that long with the grinding stuff and exp. And im not really fond of the card system.
So much better than trying to play the game. The first games story line was pretty simple, was wondering why everyone said the story was so confusing. Watched this and it all made sense lol.
Dude, you're fantastic. I LOVE the kingdom hearts series, but the gameplay in this game was so bad, I honestly couldn't bring myself to play it to get the storyline I needed to understand two. You rock.

Yeah no.... same. I recently bought the PS4 collection plus 2.8 and after beating KH1 I just couldn't drag myself through this game even though I know it's story is fairly essential to understanding a lot of the sequel.
Glad something like this exists. I've never been able to sit through CoM and for years have just gone off 'hints' to what happened between game. Tried playing it again today (for like the 6th time), got an hour in and thought "fuck it" before coming to TH-cam.
I'm not one to dismiss a game because the gameplay is different from usual but my lord, they should have kept the regular KH gameplay for this. The card shit is so hard to enjoy.

Once you get use to it, the gameplay on Chain Of Memories gets very simple. But very repetitive and boring at times. Especially if you're trying to get to level 100.
Micky is such a Deus Ex Machina throughout all the KH games.

This made a lot more sense to me. I played this with my friend and we beat Sora's side, then we beat Riku's side, but we had a confusing time figuring out when and what occurred during both stories. So thanks for this video!
I was in love with the card system even though it was so hard to learn. Deckbuilding was so fun as a kid preparing to fight different enemies. I hate that im one of the only ones who feel this way because we will probably never see a game with similar mechanics
Colin Hall play Clash Royale, I find the card system more enjoyable there than in Kingdom Hearts. Imo it was unnecessary to have to use cards just to throw a few punches. Like man I couldn’t even imagine beating Ansem in KH1 with the card system.

Honestly, I like the battle system in Re:CoM, but the execution just made me mad, the enemies would attack WAY too fast and then I would break one card, saving my higher ones and then another enemy would break my card with like a 6 in wonderland
absolutely love how jimminy is so insightful, stops the characters from being dumb like so many other stories

This game might be the most bleak in the entire series.
Sora virtually loses all his memories and gets put to sleep for a year. Riku has to watch over Sora and control his darkness. Axel killed Organization members left and right. The Riku replica is just tragic.

I remember getting stuck on the card system for the harder battles. Then my friend asked if he could play during lunch and figured out the system before lunch was over. He was really smart. I was impressed he got so good at it that quickly. I think he had fun playing it.

This games plot is exactly as I remembered it- the Charlie meme from Always Sunny in Philadelphia where he's in front of that wall of connected papers explaining why Pepe Silvia never existed. It's just so much damn nonsense for a baby game about friendship magic with Mickey Mouse.

So I bought the Story So Far Collection a while back, and now that the semester finished, I decided I'd pick up my progress after KH1 with this game. I honestly didn't want to bother with the card system (even though I thought the GBA version was fun, but perhaps I have no patience now that I'm older), so I looked for a story video. Thanks for this!
Yeah glad ya put this video up, I want to play every Kingdom Hearts Game but I just couldn't stand Chain of memories, I got to Halloween town (going in order of the first worlds) and thats when I said, "Fuck it, I can't lie to myself any more" the game play while creative doesn't work for this game. ....so yeah thanks for putting this video up
Thank you for this video. I bought KH final mix and loved the first game. I tried playing chain of memories and got about 6/7hours into the game but the combat system is such a chore to use compared to the first game and couldn't honestly force myself to continue for another 20 hours or so.

Now I'm going through the plots and thinking of downloading KH 1 & 2 on an emulator just to get them done. But I'm skipping Chain of memories for sure 😅

Was playing this in the MIX bundle and my power blacked out for a second after I had finished the entirety of floor 6. So the progress was reset to my last save.....At the beginning of floor 6. So F that, i'll just watch this.
Lmao. I bought this series because of the sale in the ps store. Never played them before. Final Mix was so much fun. I moved right into this one on completion. I played 20Mins and was done. Came here to watch the story of this game so that the next one makes more sense. I’m lmao because reading the comments, I see this has been the opinion of this game from the get go. Scratching my head at the card style battle.

I personally never knew of this version. I was not a fan of Kingdom Hearts (when it was first advertised) I thought it looked corny, even though I didn't give the game a chance.
Then one birthday, I received both Kingdom Hearts (I and II). Upon playing the first one, I immediately became hooked. Finishing the second one felt completely mesmerizing and depressing that no more games seemed available for it on the PS2 console. Until recently doing an Ebay search for RPG games on PS2, I randomly came across Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.
I look forward to playing Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories. It feels like a reunion to see my favorite characters fighting side-by-side again. I also find the concept of the cards to be interesting. It reminds me of Magic: The Gathering, in how each card has a significant feature of damage upon a foe that you fight or defend yourself against.
While It will take time to adjust to the rules of stacking the cards in ones favor so that each battle is victorious, such a methodology seems attainable with repetition, and every fellow Kingdom Hearts player is aware of the repetition of battles that oftentimes spuriously occur.
This was so helpful because I played the game for a few hours and got to the first riku fight and after I beat him I just had enough of the awful combat system the game has so I looked up what happened in re: chain of memories and found this video so now I can go watch 358/2 and play kingdom hearts 2
I could never get far in this game and I just won't play it anymore. I wish a copy of it existed with the original gameplay of parts 1 or 2, not the stupid card bullshit. Thanks for the video explaining the story.

Hey guys, I'm a bit confused over the the whole Roxas and Sora thing. How can they coexist? Shouldn't there always be either one or the other, but not both at the same time? During the events of Chain of Memories and Soras exploration in the Castle Roxas is already a part of Organisation XIII, doing missions and hanging out with Axel and Xion. So how is this possible? Am I missing something?

Eh, not really. It's story is just scatted into millions of pieces. But that's one reason the game series is so amazing.

Hated: "To which" wasn't used correctly even once. Or if it ever was, it was vastly overshadowed by incorrect usage.

It sucks that the PS2 port and its remasters are now the 'canonical' version of this game. On the GBA, COM was fairly enjoyable because the movement space was limited and the battles ran more slowly. The 3D version, especially at 60 fps, runs so much more quickly and has so much more space to be aware that the entire thing turns into a clusterfuck.
