Thanks for doing this video on Soi 25. It is exactly as I had imagined it when I was there last November and glad I did not walk it, so many other more interesting Sois to check out 🙂 I got caught in that Emsphere walkway thingie...still can not believe they did not extend the walkway, makes no sense. Just a suggestion for a future topic: I see serviced apartments mentioned online. But not much from vloggers. I undertand they are a bit more expensive than leasing your own place. But there are distinct advantages. Would like to get your perspective at some point. Update on miles and points cards: The new coming Alaska Airlines premium card is supposed to have 3x earning on purchases made abroad. The bad thing about it though is it will come from Bank of America, just heads up.
Extend the walkway? They connected the three malls. The lady owner of the three malls paid for the walkway. She doesn't care if you want to walk to Asoke. I wish they added a set of stairs to get over Sukhumvit. Serviced apartments are very expensive. They're more for business travelers on expense accounts. Almost double the price of a 12 month lease. Really close to the price of a hotel. I wouldn't want to live fulltime in a hotel room. Some people do. You can get your room cleaned for 400b and maybe a 100b tip. I heard about the new card. I just got a new Alaska card yesterday. I heard about the 3x. Stand by for a cap. Who knows? $5000 a year? Unlimited would be nice. Rumor is June of 2025 with a $390 cost. There doesn't appear to be Priority Pass lounge access. I heard 8 passes. Some say to Alaska lounges, others aren't sure. If it has an un-capped 3x foreign fee, I'll jump on that. By the way, don't plan on using an Amex in Thailand. Maybe hotels will take it. I think Big C just started. But, most won't pay the 5% merchant fee. Buddy's Bar and Scruffy Mc Murphy's do. Other than that, it's rare.
Ya, Lumpini is great, but pricey. There are some good deals if you search though. Boon just got her real estate license. When she works with a company, I'll have her put out some great deals all over town.
I don't mind living on the fringe. I don't get tempted to go out drinking every night because it's a bit of a trip. But a 25 minute train ride is no big deal. Only problem is the train stops running at midnight, so on those rare occasions that I'm out late I have to adjust. I pay about $60 a month for the BTS/MRT so I'll reevaluate my budget to see if it's worth living where I am or if I should live closer. Good video Joe.
I here ya JJ. It's easier to go out more. But, I'm going to go out to eat most evenings anyhow. I need to cool it on the beer. But a few times a week is cool.
When you think of the fortune they spent building Emsphere, its nonsensical they didn't extend the walkway to the other side of Sukhumvit Rd. I was in Phrom Phong last month and was frustrated by it every day.
I know people that are ballers and spend 2000+ on rent...at that price I'd rather stay in a serviced studio, 1bedroom like Fraser's or Marriott's, not needing to worry about cleaning or paying bills😬
Ya, but that 2k condo is probably 100m. The serviced Marriott might be 35m, maybe 50m. An old 1 bedroom in San Diego these days is close to 2k. It's still a bargain what you can get in Bangkok.
For my money - Ruam Rudi or Sala Daeng. Both close enough to civilization but out of the way of conjestion.
2 nice choices. Ruam Rudi is a favorite of fine
@EagerExpat If you pay 2x per year then easy to obtain 10% reduction.
For General info Mela Grande has 2 and 3 br apartments starting 65000 baht and is on Soi 25 according to their webpage.
The key is starting at 65,000. Ending at 95,000?

@@EagerExpat great idea! 👍🏾

@EagerExpat yeah, it's the beer more than anything. Lol
Excellent video. Very helpful I am planning to stay on Soi 24 for three weeks in March.
Glad it was helpful! Hope to see you then
Nice vlog
Thanks for liking

Ya. It only funnels people straight into the Emsphere. But people on the other side want to also go over
Almost an Oxymoron...love BKK..
It's a mellow part of New York City. It's still crazy, but a little less.
