    I live in Australia and the Mitsubishi Triton is a top 3 main seller. I owned one myself for 6 years
    Theyre tough, reliable and dependable.
    I wanna say unlike in America, here in Australia petrol engines are redundant as they run hotter, they guzzle and lack low end torque.
    This has a twin turbo 2.4l Diesel that pumps out 470nm of torque. As we hardly have full size trucks, our midsize trucks do everything. This effortlessly tows 3500kg (7717lbs) and the load rating in the bed is 1000kg (2205lbs).
    Theyre amazing trucks

      Hilux must be great as well, would be nice to have in the US. But We do have the Tacoma, so there's really no point, since we already have a midsize ute. Also people in the US are crazy about wanting the 70 series Land Cruiser.

    Actually this doesn't ride on Nissan's platform, everything about this truck is a Mitsubishi from the platform to the body and the drivetrain, the only Nissan about this truck is the Infotainment system and the instrument cluster, it's even in Mitsubishi's website that the Triton's body and frame are all developed by Mitsubishi.

    • @prolificity
      @prolificity 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Yup. I think Mitsubishi is taking the lead on this one, instead of the other way round, i.e. next gen Navara will ride on the same platform and probably even the engine
      (Nissan already used a 4N engine in their JDM Caravan refresh last year, combined with a 7at, which suggests Jatco)

    I have a 2022 Mitsubishi triton here in Australia. It’s 2.4 single turbo diesel engine has no problems towing my 1080kg car trailer with my 1830kg 98 crown vic cop car loaded on the back. To buy new they are around $50k cheaper than a ram 1500 and $14k cheaper than the equivalent Toyota. Makes it a really easy choice to buy one. 10 year warranty and road side assistance is kept if you take your car/truck back to Mitsubishi for servicing. Really , you don’t need massive engines to tow or carry weight.

    The diesel midsize truck market in the rest of the world is the coolest truck "scene." How can you argue with the tuneability of the engines, the towing and hauling capabilities, and approx 35mpg on the highway? Even the 0-60 times aren't bad, certainly not after a def delete and a performance tune.

    Delica vans are awesome. We imported an L400 Delica from Japan to Canada a year ago and absolutely love if. We removed the rear seats and converted it into a go anywhere offroad camper. 4x4, low range, diff lock, so good for what little we paid for it. I have no idea why they don't sell them in North America. I would think that they would sell really well out here.

    • @MrJEEPJT

      @WildernessExcursions How did you import A Japanese van into Canada 🇨🇦??? Does Canada endorse the discriminatory Chicken Tax and not import foreign manufactured Light Trucks ?? In your commentary I have to assume you aren’t aware of the “1963” Chicken tax in the USA ??

    • @WildernessExcursions
      @WildernessExcursions 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MrJEEPJT We can import JDM vehicles into Canada as long as they're at least 15 years old. There's no import tax and they don't care if it's a right hand drive. The only modification I needed to do was install a wire harness and two LED daytime running lights that I bought off Amazon for $60 CAD. We bought a 2005 L400 Delica, Active Field (their highest trim) at auction in Tokyo for only $5,500 CAD. It was in perfect shape and only had 88,000 km on it. Then after paying for shipping, ground transportation, storage, Japan broker, Canada broker, inspection, GST (VAT in Canada), etc., the total cost of the vehicle came to around $10,000 CAD (7,300 USD).
      Delica vans are mostly passenger vehicles, so your Chicken tax wouldn't apply. I did find out the reason these vans are not sold new in Canada and the US. It's because of the CAFE standards and how it's calculated. It's based on wheel base and stance, and doesn't take into account the extra space of a van. So that's why Mitsubishi will sell SUVs, but not small vans in North America. If the next generation Delica is a PHEV or EV with a range extender, maybe then they'll start selling them here.

    G'day it's Steven from Down Under
    Mitsubishi Motors has been established in Australia for several decades and is a much loved and respected manufacturer, in fact Mitsubishi is also a top seller with the current Triton being the number three top selling ute ( truck ) here.
    I'm amused by American attitudes and comments regarding Mitsubishi vehicles and I'm assuming that y'all don't get all the interesting Mitsubishi vehicles due to tariffs etc.
    Allow me to make one matter clear please, since Mitsubishi Motors joined the Renault - Nissan - Mitsubishi Alliance all three manufacturers are benifiting in many ways, in the Tritons case Mitsubishi was the lead developer and this is not a Nissan product, though Nissan will be basing their Navara ute ( truck ) on this platform.
    Mitsubishi is often underestimated and under valued it seems, the recent new Outlander PHEV is a great example of the engineering excellence that's overlooked in the US for more overrated and over priced vehicles like the Toyota RAV4.
    In fact the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is the worlds first SUV PHEV and also the most popular, especially in Europe.
    Looking forward to your quick look at the all new generation of Delica.

    Surprise surprise psss, despite showing it there, the Triton isn't sold in Japan, with its discontinuation in the 2000s from the Japanese market. It is however, very prevalent in every other market in Asia, South East Asia, Eastern European, Latin and South America, Middle East and Africa. There's the possibility they may reverse import it from Thailand or Indonesia, just like Toyota is reverse importing the Hilux from Thailand to Japan in recent years. True JDM pickups, used for real utility, are cab forward.

    This truck is more closely related to the nissan navara than the titan but i guess you guys dont get that in the US. Also most tritons usually have a payload of over 1 tonne so dont know why this ones payload is so low.

    These would sell well. Just like the Mazda and Isuzu in the 80s and 90s. Isuzu tried again with the last gen frontier, and nobody purchased them. The fmc canyon has more hp and tq from the gas motor than the diesel. I like diesels. I wish there was a new option in our market. Minimum 300 hp and 400 lbs torque is bench going forward in the mid-size market.

    I had a used’83 Cordia and Mitsubishi seemed so innovative back then, digital dash, there was a fresh air vent in the B pillar for the backseat passengers, unfortunately the innovative four speed transmission with a power and economy shifter(you could almost convince a passenger it was an ejection lever) was its downfall. I didn’t have the turbo but they were early adopters in the ‘80s. They just fizzled out here. I also was stationed in Japan from ‘83 to ‘85 in the Navy, and remember that Mitsubishi made a Mitsubishi badged Jeep that they could only sell in Japan
