So many memories of being a kid in the 80s. I remember Emma singing this live on some Granada show. Wish it was on youtube. Shame she's retired now,but I hope she's happy
I never heard this version before, only the edited opening and closing versions, used for each episode. The song definitely gets stuck in my head. Classic TV comedy. 😃 To me, the mid 80s to early/mid 90s was the golden era of sitcoms. Watching, 2 Point 4 Children, May to December, etc. Of course, also Keeping Up Appearances and Birds of a Feather, but those always get remembered - and rightly so. But not many people seem to mention some of the others. They were just as great. 💝
I recall when radio station 3AK in Melbourne, Australia changed format to 3AK Beautiful Music in 1973. For a Christmas promotion that year they recorded an album of orchestral music conducted by Geoff Harvey. It was called "Reflections" and featured an original composition by Geoff Harvey by that name. Toward the end of 1976, the Nine Network premiered a new series set in World War II days called "The Sullivans" with Reflections as its theme. And so the music came to be called The Sullivans Theme. A pity the original complete version of the song can't be found on TH-cam. It had a lovely nostalgic sound which was quite haunting too. I bought a copy of the original album, but I seem to have misplaced it over the years.
I only barely remember this show because the main bloke was in an episode of Mr. Bean. I couldn’t even remember the name, nor what it was about. I remember it was about that man, that girl and the man was getting married to another girl, that’s it. It’s just he was on Mr. Bean that really stood out to me.
Somewhere along the song Emma sings the altered set of lyrics 'I bring chaos where there is calm', still I think the full version would be longer then this.
This makes me smile immensely and remember my childhood. Love Emma Wray ❤️
Gone Girl.. Watching is being shown again on Forces TV channel...
Loved listening to this a kid, didn't know the show just loved the theme!

OMG, I had forgotten about this theme song! Brings back memories...🙂
Loved this show!
this was the best of British Entertainment
Always made me emotional x
Lovely childhood memories ❤
Same here! The wave of nostalgia that hit me when I heard this theme tune again for the first time in decades was overwhelming!
I loved this. Like chalk and cheese but the puns and whit priceless
I wanted this as my wedding song- I wish the full version could be found somewhere
This version is from the 1988 Christmas special "Twitching"
Oh this brings back memories
Reminds me of nights with my mum and dad when I was a kid
We were the lucky ones, watching Watching in our childhoods!
I remember one episode where Brenda had these little fruit-basket earrings which I thought were SO cute...
Fuck, this takes me back.

when I was a kid I thought she sang "I would rather have a chip as my other arm"
lol i used to think she said "i would rather have a chip as my overall!" :) :)
I thought it was Chip as my other arm too
Still do haha
So did I, the chip thing
Me too. In fact, I've only learnt the actual lyric right now watching this 😂

this is only on one christmas episode :)
Sunday night viewing when we first got a flat.
The 80s where the Best!!!
yes, i remember that part too. really showing our age we are lol
As a kid I always thought "what do I need from C&A" which really ages me
This was a great series! I created an instrumental version of the shortened theme tune, which is on my channel.
Glad I checked your channel out, lots of great themes on there... amazing work!
Thanks!
Re watching now, still as funny as before, but can't believe the pub prices!
I used to fancy Emma Wray, wonder what she looks like 30 odd years later?
Snap ha
I don't remember the line 'grievous mental harm', didn't it use to be 'I bring chaos where there was calm'?
I think this version is only on one episode..Twitching at a guess. The rest are a different arrangement with chaos where there was calm lyric.
I agree with " I Bring Chaos Where There was Calm.
I liked The Series
Featuring Perry Fenwick, now in Eastenders
He is a regular at my local pub.
@@allyhamilton4056 Don't you mean YOU are a regular at your local pub? You alcoholic.
Us 80s kids are living this!😂
And I grew up to be a 24 carrot prick. Just ask Jasper
Nice funny 😂😀
Seriously underrated series. Sort of Gavin and Stacey of the 80's only much better (and I've only discovered this show within the last few years)

Indeed. :D
they do not make comedy like this ...
Come 'ead
What a terrible theme song. And I get it. I’m not knocking anyone’s nostalgia. But it’s grating to listen to.
Always thought this was like the songs Victoria wood used to do in the eighties.
She was shite
Title of the song?
Was this on Sunday tea time ?
I love this live where they film.it ✌
I think she lives back on the Wirral
Mind you it also misses the opening lyrics too.
It was boredom at first sight, you could hardly call him bright, he is no-one's Mr Right, so what do I see in him?
I started singing all the words....how strange I remembered after all this time! I loved this show ❤
this is years old say early 80s i was say 6 i remember this
first series was in 1987 it ran till 1993.7 series made in all.
Sorry, *+Jennifer london* - but YOU are wrong, and badly... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watching
