Mark's comment that getting rid of all their stuff from their house was equated to the feeling that you have after taking a shower speaks volumes. So often you hear that the Less Stuff you have the more Free you feel. Great interview Bob and Mark!

when he talked about calculating how much he was spending per month I am like I wonder what our expenses are so I calculated it a few minutes ago. wow, cant believe how much just having ahome (we dont have a mortgage) even without this mortgage (repairs and home improvements etc) food, utilities, taxes, insurance through work for disability and medical care, including eyes, and dental, house insurance which I forgot to calculate in, clothes per year, washing them, and I did not even caluculate the costs of the equipment I have to oil, gas repair, to maintain our 3 acres to mow, and hauling trees and such which we have to sometimes cut apart due to storms, etc, including hobbies, I am like wow!!!!! I did not know how much we are spending per year for just basics let alone hobbies and extras that come along including vacation. I have dogs so I caluclated vets visits, kennel costs to go on vacation, which is substantial, I am like yikes it would be cheaper and more fun to find a annual campground with amenties of hiking, swimming fishing kayaking, bird watching, etc, and have a truck camper or small trailor and still enjoy vacations (it would be like a permenant vacation as I love the parks/woods/ etc) and just move it around if the price gets too much, you have more power over the campground owners because if hte charge to much you can leave, here if the taxes keep going up you cant just get up and leave and find a better place to live.

I love Bob. He really does a great interview and is so good with people. He deserves his own TV show. This would be a wonderful show like those featuring tiny homes or a reality show documenting nomadic life and how all different people go about it. I would watch the hell out of that! I think anyone would even if they weren't planning on taking the plunge but I bet it would get a LOT more people thinking. The government-controlled media would probably not mainstream this idea though. But Bob deserves some $$$ and success!

This is my idea of the ideal motorhome. It's large enough that two adults can live comfortably while traveling the USA, while also small enough that anyone with a standard driver's license can drive it almost anywhere.

I wish I could see photos of his van and the use of space that you have spoken of. I am designing a van for extended travel and am so interested on how people use their space to the best use. Bob, another great video interview! I'm watching all of your videos but can't always stop what I'm doing to push the like button I do like them all however. Mark mentioned his and his wife's hobbies and I was wondering if there is a group of amateur astronomers out there with the tribe, camping together and setting up their telescopes in the same area so they don't have to put all of that equipment away every day. My goal is to not have to work so that I can look at the stars all night and sleep in the daytime. Probably not this summer (2018) but next summer I will join the tribe and embrace the nomadic lifestyle.

I would be concerned about the drive train on one since it was made to really pull a car around. Plenty of motor size just a weird drive train and transfer case. Not easy to get if it was a catastrophic failure.

Bob I have a question- we just recently bought a 1 ton van and we want to turn it into a camper van. Could we go to the DMV and have it listed on the title as a rv ? For cheaper insurance and to be able to get into campgrounds ? I've seen other TH-camrs that say they've don't that.

very interesting video my ears picked up when Mark said he had a new hobby and became a ham radio operator because I'm also a radio ham and have been for many years, it would be nice if all of us hams joined up on air, from time to time, I became interested in camping in a van because of my hobby, I live over here in the UK, I do live in a house with my two dogs, but it's nice to be able to take a break from time to time, that's when I found Bob's TH-cam channel, being able to get away from Birmingham from time to time and enjoy my hobby, by stealth camping in other parts of the uk my name is Barry and my ham radio call is G4DIP

Keep in mind that its not very economical to drive a large RV for long distances. My 29 ft RV gets about 8mpg when towing my jeep behind it and it struggles to climb hills. These big RVs a good to live in but not travel. Great to park them in a spot for 3-4 months and then move with the weather. If you want to travel alot you are better off with a van.

    Hey Bob,
Since you spent so much time talking about the great job Mark and his wife did renovating a van....does a link to a van tour exist for that van?

Oops...I just went to the link you gave me and it is Part Two of your interview with Mark and the tour of his GMC rig. I watched that last night. Maybe I didn't make myself clear in the earlier message, but I'm referring to a video tour of the camper van he and his wife did before the GMC...since you spent so much time talking about it and it was clear you were amazed at the job they did on it.
