Much gratitude to the Johnathan (who looks like he could be Paul Rudd's little bro) for handling these people in such a manner that somehow makes it not creepy. And much appreciation also to the beautiful souls that donate their own bodies or that of loved ones for this incredible educational purpose.👍🦋🌿💕

Her baby was born at 26 weeks only 1 lb. 14 oz. and he needed a transfusion, but it had to be from an adult that did not have the RSV virus. Having just watched this video, I feel that I need to tell you my story. I was born 50yrs ago. My mother went into early labour when she was 32 weeks pregnant, and she and my father were duly afraid as the doctor had been concerned that he could hear only one heartbeat but feel two heads.
My mum gave birth to me, I was 8weeks and 2days early. My birth was traumatic, but more was to follow. A few minutes after me my twin was delivered stillborn. He was my brother and it was estimated that he had died at around 26weeks and was perfect. The story goes that the midwife and doctor who attended our birth asked our parents if they would be willing to donate my brother to our local university. Which they did. Until now I have been unable to picture my brother. It's unlikely that you have him there with you, but maybe he had a twin who misses him just as much as I miss mine. Thank you.

Estelle Schneider I’m a Christian, and pro-life. It’s horrible what happens to fetuses in abortions and I can’t support it. But this life lost can be used to save countless more in the future. Tragedy can be used to create something amazing. It doesn’t mean that we want tragedy to happen, but that we take a horrible situation and turn it around. In order to save us from our sins, Jesus went through some terrible things. Judas’ betrayal, for example, was a horrible thing, yet Jesus’ arrest was used to bring Him glory and salvation for us. Horrible things happen, but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn from it to make sure things like that don’t happen again. This fetus has probably saved many lives, and there’s nothing to prove that it’s connected to abortion or Roe v Wade.
I understand where you are coming from, life is precious and God wants us to protect it. I firmly believe that. But learning from loves lost is not disregarding God’s creation, if anything, it is respecting it. Yes, there have been many abuses of science and human study, but this is not one of those cases. By learning about the human body, regardless of the stage of life, can help save many more lives. Isn’t this honoring God far more? We aren’t killing babies for the purpose of study (even if the bodies are later used, it isn’t the same as intentionally killing for that reason), just using what already happened. If I die of something we don’t understand, I would want my body to be studied so we can prevent or help others in the same situation. I truly believe this honors God’s heart.
It is sick and horrible that many don’t respect life in the womb, but the people studying this fetus’ body are learning about it so they can save more fetuses, so they can grow and live a full life. I think we can both agree that saving lives is a wonderful thing. I would love to hear your thoughts. God bless :)

I noticed that a lot of comments have serious objections to calling the baby a fetus. Fetus is the correct medical term for a baby of that gestational age. Before that, it is an embryo. After that (when it is born), it is a neonate. Just like a leg bone is a femur. It isn't an insult to the leg to call the bone a femur; neither is it an insult to the unborn child to call it a fetus.

Acceptible, but still seems strange to me. Our son was born 7.5 weeks early (he's 22 and 1.82m tall now), so at that moment he'd be a neonate (Matthew is the name, thank you) and a few minutes earlier a fetus. I like this channel, and perhaps this episode best, but he's always been Matthew (or Mary-Anne, since we didn't know the gender before birth) to me. Hi Matthew, here's looking up to you son!

My baby was born last year in week 27+6 and we spent 3 months at the hospital. He got 2 brain bleeds grade 2, lung bleeds, he was on vent for 1 weeks and then over to CPAP and then optiflow. He also had other problems which he has overcomed, thanks to science and his strength. They didn't know if he would survive the first weeks. Today 16 months later he's thriving, he already has taken his first steps, super active and doesn't have any problem! It was hard seeing this fetus (and baby) but I also understand it's necessary to learn more and help others ❤️

My Mom's Mom had a blue "stillborn" baby 2x in the 50's. The Drs told my Grandfather that the babies, both times, were beautiful, 10 pound babies, born with their hearts beating, but the Dr or nobody could get them to take a breath. Decades later, when my daughter was born bluish, she was diagnosed as having a major heart defect that was repaired 2 months later. When we asked the pediatric cardiologist @ UK, if it was likely that heart defects had caused the stillborn brother & sister than neither my Grandmother, nor my Mom & her sisters ever saw. He said it was "extremely likely". Drs never say anything's 100%. When my husband died of COVID-19 on 11-15-20 (& I almost did) people still said "it was probably COVID-19"... even with both of us testing positive.

      @CoralineYann ปีที่แล้ว +6

it must have been blue baby syndrome or cyanosis, due to uneffective closing of foramen ovale; a passing present between our right and left atrium. During pregnancy, it is open but after normal deliveries, it is supposed to close and form fossa ovalis. However, in some cases, the foramen ovale doesnt close properly or not at all, and there becomes a gap between the right and left atrial chambers of the heart. Hence, the oxygenated blood from the left atria and deoxygenated blood from the right atria get mixed, resulting in lesser amounts of oxygen in the blood. As a result of lacking oxygen to the tissues, the tissues turn bluish in colour.

Water baptism also is not required for salvation; spiritual baptism is - and this is gained by believing in Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the cross. Water baptism is an outward expression of faith, and again, isn't required for salvation.

My wife is a high school science teacher, and biology is one of the subjects she teaches. She had "inherited" a fetus like this. She always treated it with respect, it was never just out for show, it was only brought out for biology class. She gave the kids the chance to leave the room before she would bring it out. Well, one day a student had talked about the experience with their parents (the kid wasn't upset at all, and I think an older sibling had already been through her class and had seen it with no issues). This one parent (apparently super religious pro-life) complained about it and demanded that she stop using the fetus in class. It became this big thing with the parent, principal, and super. Eventually, the fetus was removed from her classroom and put into storage in the district office. To the best of her knowledge, it's still there. So instead of being used to help educate kids, it now sits somewhere collecting dust. My wife offered to get in touch with the local Mother House to hand it over to the Sisters for burial or to get it back after that student had graduated. Still no idea what will happen with it (if anything). We call it baby-gate now.
Edit: there were actually two of them, and both were documented as coming from a local university, donated to the school ages ago. The teachers took up a collection to have them cremated, as the school didn't want to lay for it since it would need to go to the board and be approved and show up on public minutes.
The school also found that one of the skeletons they used was a real human skeleton from China acquired ages ago. That was also cremated.

When I took my first EMT class (BACK IN THE DARK AGES, 1974) we were doing our ER rotation and just happened that a young woman had a spontaneous abortion. The nurse came back to us and had the fetus (still in the sac) in an emesis basin. She asked it we wanted to see what was inside (and most of the other guys said Hell yes), so she tore open the sac and inside was a perfectly formed beautiful baby boy. The tough guys either left to puke or just passed out. She told us to look and see if we could determine why the fetus was aborted. Well, it was OBVIOUS the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and that caused him to die. I don't know if the parents ever wanted to view the baby, but it would be heart breaking as the boy was perfect in every way. I have seen a few more over the years as a medical tech in the Air Force. It was tough if the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck but seeing the OBVIOUSLY deformed fetus made it a LITTLE easier. But not much.
BTW: I am PRO CHOICE. I have seen WAY TO MUCH horror, neglect, abuse and mistreatment of children whose parents SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN PARENTS. So. please spare me the hate remarks.

MrTommyboy68, thank you for your comment, I really did enjoy reading it. You know how you've stated that the baby died due to the obvious?! Well, that may not necessarily be all the time. My daughter's cord was wrapped around her neck as well and according to my parents, mine was wrapped around 2x. Thank God we both survived. Unfortunately for my bestfriend, her little girl wasn't wrapped around at all, at time of autopsy, it was determined that she had a 2 vessel cord. Typically, an umbilical cord has two arteries and one vein. From the outside, it looks perfectly normal.

I delivered my youngest daughter with a gestational age of 29 weeks and 2 days. I had a placental hemorrhage which caused severe intrauterine growth restriction. She was measuring about the size of a 24-26 week fetus/baby at the time of delivery. She weighed 1lbs 8oz and was 12 inches long. She was fully intubated (machine breathing for her) for about 3 weeks. After that she was on a CPAP machine that gauged how much oxygen assistance she needed, if any, and adjusted its flow as needed. She was unable to take breast milk or formula for the first week as her intestines were not mature enough to digest the "food" or absorb any nutrients from anything consumed. She was on a special diet of amino acids, vitamins, minerals & fats. As her little body developed she was given a nasogastric tube to have her feeds put through which then graduated to a surgical g-tube. Because she had been intubated for so long she developed an "oral aversion" and couldn't take any feeds by mouth.
She is now almost a year and a half and is incredibly happy & healthy albeit just a tiny little thing.
She is a modern science miracle.
