He probably knows this, but I don't want to take a chance. If Miah cuts those trees beware that the trunk often flips back into place after the main weight of the tree is cut off, so make sure no one is standing in that space.

I live in Rutherford Co NC. We’ve got 4 100 ft trees down in our yard. It felt like 6 hours but was probably 2.5-3. Running back and forth across the house trying to look for incoming trees. It’s all very surreal as I’m 29 and never experienced this living here. Always wanted to be in a hurricane though just didn’t expect to come to my doorstep.

During Sandy in NY, i had a lady approach me on a street saying she has no food left and can't cook with anything. I've asked if her stove is a gas stove - it turns out it is, and she just didn't know that she could cook and boil water, she was so happy 😊 In the whole neighborhood, only 1 store had a generator and offered free charging of cell phones - the store owner has helped so many of us at the time - people started to come onto the streets asking each other if they are Ok. A street of cars was at a stand still - all out of gas, so the roads were shut, but the beach had foragers already. When people help each other it is very valuable ! I was alone with a child at the time and was very scared, but the neighbors made me feel safer ! But to this day I always keep a hand saw in my car.

Just because you have a gas stove does not mean you can use it during a major storm or power outage. Gas stoves nowadays are electric starts and if powers out you can’t light the stove

Mine was working with a match - i did mention to the lady what I did know myself, she did not try to light her stove with a match. It was over 10 years ago, and a lot has changed since then, though. But she had hope and ran home to at least try - I am sure her husband has helped.😊 It was the time when neighbors were helping each other !

@@jadeswrapsandbraidsGas stoves can still be lit with a match/ lighter. I have a modern GE gas stove, and we have power out at least once every winter dew to the snow storms. We are able to cook on that stove no problem.

We have used our generator for post hurricane power several times. We would plug in the freezer and refrigerator for long enough to stay cold until the next charging time, as long as nobody opened the door. Things like the milk, condiments, cheese etc that I'd need for the next meal I'd open the door and it went into a cooler with other frequent items and drinks, then bring it back to temp by using the generator. We had to do this for 10 days with the last hurricane and 2 weeks with the one before that. I'd make a new pot of coffee every time it was running and keep it warm in a thermos. Not having everything in the freezers be a total loss saved us so much money!

I live in australia, North Queensland and we live thru cyclones which I presume is similar. We’ve lived thru the worst in Australian history. It’s pretty scary and bloody loud. I totally understand. We had such a massive cyclone cat 5, and we were on the tail side of it and had almost 24 hours of it. It was full on

goodness me. so sorry. We have a spread of fuels living in the country. Gas stove on bottles; wood fired cookers and fires. If you are totally dependent on electricity you have great difficulty in surviving comfortably in a crisis. Bless you all.

Coffee - I think this is why Mary at Mary's Nest has that cast iron trivet and tea candles in her Amazon store. It's an excellent way to heat enough water to do a pour over cup of coffee. :) Alesha from Florida (yep, I've totally used a trivet to make my coffee in a hurricane! And thank the Lord, we are in central FL and had no damage. )

It's coming through my area now. I'd suggest keeping a butane burner and a handful of canisters in case of a power outage. I NEED my coffee in the morning and I keep one around just in case.

Grew up in a mobile home in South Alabama. Praise God, we lived through many tornadoes. Wind can damage a tralor, brick house or a wooden house. God is our protector! Much Love, The Garden Tiller Boy's mom.
