Berkley Choppo VS. Whopper Plopper for Mississippi River Smallmouth

I head to the upper Mississippi River in Minnesota to test the Berkley Choppo against River2Sea's Whopper Plopper and catch some nice smallmouth bass in the process.

I have 2 Choppo 90s. They both sink a little right when they hit and take several feet of reeling to get back to the surface. I have a Whopper Plopper 110 and it lands right on the surface without sinking at all. As soon as I start reeling, it starts making its “bubbling” sound like it should.

I’ve had the tails break off the choppy. They seem softer than the whopper plopper.

Time will tell on the durability of the Choppo. I did lose an eye on the bait, but that's not a huge deal. I don't believe I've ever lost an eye on the Whopper Plopper, though.
