Watching this video actually gives me a lot more confidence in my car. Mostly because the engine is so damn whiney/clickey....I always thought my engine sounded "off" but now I know its pretty normal. Good ole noisy boxers.
I know you dont have this car anymore, but wanted to ask if you ever entertained putting on a lightweight flywheel on this VA wrx? I know that tuning can remove some rev hang, but you can remove even more if you go with a lightweight flywheel as well.. oh and love how this VA sounds btw.. Making me actually want one lol..
Unfortunately this was fully extended. I can attach additional extensions but then the camera tends to shake around quite a bit because of the semi flexible nature of everything being made of plastic. I'm working on making a mount out of metal that extends up from the harness bar as apposed to down from the ceiling. Another track day on the 9th of next month, keep an eye out for the next vid!
Nice vid, I’m trying to go for a similar setup on my 2015 WRX. Did you need to adjust the roll center after the coilovers? How reliable are the torque/hp that you got?
How do you rate the WRX as a track car? I'm torn over how far I should mod my 2015 WRX. Nice driving. I wear my car out as well. Have yet to track it though.
Unless you have very deep pockets I would just lightly mod, or buy a cheaper car for the track. It will make a great track car with enough money thrown at it, even stock its pretty good, but once you start chasing the dragon and trying to get it to a higher level it gets to be very expensive car to play around with. As a daily with light mods its a great, reliable car.

I see people going insane on their cars and I don't see a point when they could have just bought a stock Cayman with all the money they spent upgrading a sports sedan, and the stock Cayman would crush their crazy modded WRX/STI. I've done some light performance and cosmetic mods so far. My wish list from here is: - j and mid pipe - new top mount inter cooler - Perrin headers -18 wheels and Michelin tires - access port and pro tune DONE! Keep up the kick azz vids!
I ordered it regularly and then called Invidia directly and had them send me a non resonated mid pipe. You can probably just call Invidia and order it that way from the start.
You have to have your tuner adjust your closed loop map to account for the extra air the engine is receiving due to the missing TGV's. Mine still doesn't cold start great sometimes but it's 10x better than before the adjustment.
FA20 is pretty solid actually. Like the above poster said the EJ25 is the one to stay away from. Just get some forged rods in the WRX and you can push 350-400 hp which is more than enough to beat most things out on the street.
That makes sense. I sold my s2000 not too long ago and am doing heavy research on the 2015+ WRX. So far it seems like the best all around car when it comes to daily driving and a weekend track car. Any tips or advice? I plan on buying brand new 2018 June or Julyish.

Hey Paul I noticed your boost was capping out at 16 or 18 PSI. Do you think you may have a boost leak, or did you switch out the turbo? I have a 17 premium and it boosts into the low to mid 20 PSI range. Just curious your car sounds awesome! I figured you might not be boosting as high because you have a leaky BOV.

Just some carbon on the outside :) I mic'ed the engine so you can hear the turbo. Thats about what it actually sounds like in the cabin though.

What did you use for your camera and mic?
ChrisDman this was a Gopro hero 4 and two cheap stero mics off of Amazon, one on the license plate frame and one on the passenger strut tower.

how does your turbo make such awesome noises? mine does not sound like that.
Intake + good exhaust will give you this sound. Intake probably makes the biggest difference, noticed a huge increase in turbo whooshes

I figured you might not be boosting as high because you have a leaky BOV.

It was a makeshift solution improvised on the spot. There's lots of footage on my channel with better camera positioning.
