    I saw a 'temporary' vocal booth made of plumbers piping and heavy curtains. From the results on videos they seem to get the job done. I am pleased that you have been able to find such a great space for your studio.

    How did you get this done so quickly? Amazing. Also for hanging things like sound treatment on a wall without drilling, have you ever tried 3M Command strips and / or hangars? Amazing how versatile they are and if you follow the instructions you can remove them with no wall damage. All the best.

    So pleased at how the new studio turned out. It's fantastic. That desk is definitely the star, and considering the vast majority of your time is spent here, it's really important that everyone maximises the size of that desk...width, depth, shelves, sliding drawer etc. A little though and patience here reaps lasting rewards.

    Glad to see your up and running again. New Studio is very impressive as is your knowledge and the way you explain everything. I am very happy I found your site. One question I have always had is How do you keep everything straight when your doing a recording project. Do you keep a book on all the settings you use and all the equipment. Wish you could do a video on how to keep everything together in a project. I can't remember Half the stuff I do and all the settings. But again I;m glad to see your back and have an great studio set up again.

    Hi, Mike. I've followed you for quite a while and appreciate everything you do for us. I'm a 74 year old aging guitar player who gave up the single life and raised a family instead of finding fame and fortune as a rock star or something. Now, I'm just playing music as a social outlet with friends, some who play professionally or not. I bought Cakewalk and Sonar, etc a long time and it was a steep learning curve. You have single-handedly helped me in many way. I am well. And good.

    Nice work Mike!! A great temporary solution for a vocal booth is to use pvc pipe and moving blankets. While not sound proof, it does reduce reflective sound and works great in small places. Made it to the end of the video!!

    I love the ART equipment. Gets looked over a lot because it's a lower price point, but their dual compressor and mic pre's are also awesome. I use their compressor and XLR patchbay.
    That samson patchbay is exactly what I use and it's a beast. Best 1/4' patchbay on the market.

    Congratulations! Nice job all around and it's fun to see how this move allowed you the opportunity to make it more ergonomically suitable and visually pleasing, too. The kitchenette might be WAY more useful as a "shop/bench" area. As far as a vocal booth and being a renter, Jim Lill did a video on how he tackled the "leave the walls alone" thing.

  • @helmanfrow
    @helmanfrow ปีที่แล้ว

    Does your lease allow you use adhesives to mount panels?
    If not, in the kitchen your only option over the countertop might be to build a scaffolding from wall to wall and hang panels from that. 1-inch square tubing would probably work well. Perhaps use those floor-to-ceiling tension rods in the corners and girts between them.

  • @fusion-music
    @fusion-music ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice job Mike. For the vocal booth, I would suggest hinged panels (plywood), to fix your treatment to. You can get hinges where the pin comes out. So, you put in a panel and drop the pins in to connect to another panel on the next wall. Everything is safe then. You might have to be "Creative" by raising the panel over the sink so it doesn't absorb splashes. These spaces for rent do have their challenges when it comes to not fixing anything to walls. You might even be able to source timber that is perforated for the job. The other idea is just to have a mic on a stand that has the reflection filter built in or search for portable vocal booth. They have some nice ideas.

    I use metal studs cut to the size I want and fill them with rock wool. I then cover them with landscape fabric and whatever cloth you want to look at. For a vocal booth you can get the area as dead sounding as you want. You can even place hard surfaces over the fabric if you want to brighten the room up. Metal studs are much easier to work with than wood and they are lighter and easily changeable if want to resize them.

    Made it to the end with ease - always a pleasure to watch any of your videos. Studio is looking awesome I must say, and it looks bigger than your previous one? Will you need to treat the ceiling at all? I don't know how you go about that if you cannot drill into any surfaces. Anyway, I am looking forward to hearing some new output from the studio - good luck!

    Easy to make it to the end. I can feel your excitement in the new. One thing I didn't get from it is where do the artists/yourself actually play. I took it that the sound treatment was for the mix monitoring. Is there a separate studio room for artists or do they play in the same area? Also where did you get the guitar mic stand with two differing heights? I can't find one anywhere.

    Of course, I made it to the end of this video, and every other of your videos I watch. I've been an amateur musician since the seventies, and just recently decided to learn to use a DAW. I downloaded Cakewalk and Reaper and started watching the many tutorial videos and have to say, Cakewalk seems so much more like the old school analogue work flow I was used to, and your lessons are the best. Thank you!

    ☺️ Wow, you're setup is a little more than humble, and absolutely mind blowing; 🧐 by the way I noticed you've incorporated a BEHRINGER, sound unit into you're setup but concerned of noise levels when using it. 🤔 Some of your dBu's per other devices may vary differently from the Headphone Amp's. Some are fixed, whatever the case you should try setting them all to around the same dBu range of operation, if so available via a switch in a specified section on the back of the unit, as it might be in most cases. Most BEHRINGER units operate best towards the +dBu range of frequency 😌 👍🏼. I'm running about 4-6 BEHRINGER units with various other manufacturers' and type units with my very beloved PRESONUS STUDIO 192 DIGITAL RECORDING INTERFACE... 😃

    You have gotten so much more sophisticated in your video production. I know you must spend a lot of time based on the results. So well done there. I have only good things to say about you and the instructions you go through and in fact you were the first person to explain how to get multiple outputs from a Kontakt instrument ( like 3 years ago). Seems things are going well for you and I applaud your success. Maybe I’ll send a song in for your mix analysis.
