Shouts: The Best Ones in Football Manager 2020

  • Every year, a new set of touchline shouts rises to the top. I have no idea why this is, but the system is always simple, and there are only a few that reliably get your team fired up. HUGE thanks to you all for the 5 straight subs (it was actually 12, but you only need 5) to get a third video out this week. It was loads of fun.
    If you ever want another FM guide, please let me know in the comments or on stream. This tutorial idea came from you all explicitly, not even subconsciously. Enjoy the fun, enjoy the tips, RIP Mirko.

    I agree that most shouts are not worth using, in particular 'concentrate' and 'calm down' always seem to adversely effect players. I agree 'get creative' is by far the most useful and the best one. But I find myself using 'show some passion' a lot if I am losing late on, and I think it's a pretty good asset.

    Don't forget that shouts can be targeted at specific players too. You don't have to always shout to the whole team.
    3-0 up, team plays great but that one winger's having a bad day? Single him out, "demand more", praise team, wait 5 minutes and watch that winger going for a hattrick.
    What I do with shouts:
    - Shout at 15/30/60/75 minutes in
    - Demand more: player rating

    • @stephenmason9527
      @stephenmason9527 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You didn't even mention the best situation for an individual shout: *calm down* to your 3 or 4 players on yellow cards, especially if they seem frustrated. I get a lot of yellows, but comparatively very few red cards this way.

  • @economicerudite4924
    @economicerudite4924 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Old video, obviously, but I came here because I wanted to see if it matched with my results I’ve discovered in-game. It does.
    A lot of people still play FM20 because it was the free FM, so I’ll leave this comment here:
    This is what I tend to do in most games: You can shout roughly every 10 minutes (so minute 1 you can shout, then you can shout again minute 10, then 20, etc.) and you can also shout just after a goal (either scored or conceded). Your shouts seem to have no impact for the first 10 minutes, but I shout anyway because the option’s there, might as well take it, right? If you shout from kick-off, enough time has passed that you can shout again in the 10th minute when shouts do make a difference.
    Anyway, in most games (and for reference my current save is with Borussia Monchengladbach, an online game against friends who are Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg), I pause the game at kick-off and instantly hit ‘demand more’.
    I will keep hitting demand more every 10 minutes (it focuses them and turns them all green) until I score. If I score in the first 30 minutes then I will hit ‘demand more’ again during the replay. If they have been struggling to score and finally get the breakthrough I will hit ‘praise’. If they score a second goal then I will keep hitting praise instead of demand more every 10 minutes. I switch back to ‘demand more’ if I feel they stop playing well.
    If I’m winning comfortably, let’s say 4-0, I will start using other shouts. This is where I will often use get creative. I think of it as ‘you’re winning, this is your chance to get creative on the field and find something else’. Sometimes the team slows down after being 4 goals ahead so getting creative can shake things up. If they are complacent I tell them to concentrate or I encourage (only time to encourage is this situation btw). Show some passion is also great in complacent situations.
    I never, ever tell them to push forward as that always sends them to red frustrate. I never encourage unless I’m dominating and they are falling asleep with complacency and boredom. Calm can work if you’re trying to close out a tight game in the final few minutes.
    I fail to see when ‘no pressure’ would ever be useful.
    So, tl;dr, demand more and praise are the bread and butter. Demand more is when you want them to keep pushing and to be better, praise is when they’re playing well and you want to fire them up and motivate them to keep performing well.
    The in-game results for ‘demand more’ are ‘player is focused’ and the results for ‘praise’ are ‘player is fired up’.
    Use demand more repeatedly until you are either 2-0 up or scoring an important break-through goal or a goal against a superior team that puts you ahead - at that point switch to praise. Switch back to demand more in the event that you feel they are starting to drop performance levels.

    Great content again love it!!! Tip!!!!!!!!!!The first shout out!!! Missed a trick there straight away, when u scored straight after u gave the first get creative instruction. U could n should of shown us how to cancel that shout when that happens by going into tactics and pressing the Red Cross so it cancels ur shout. this allows u to select a new shout like praise or demand more which would of been a lot more affective at the time cause the situation had changed. If u had of done this u would of got a full green response from all ur players still. Not just a few like u mention. Not aimed at u just another tip to help anyone who wants tips on how to improve.

    Encourage and Praise for days. Surprisingly, Berate is remarkably effective when your team's standards are high and they're making some nasty mistakes defensively, especially leading to unnecessary goals. No Pressure is probably the absolute worst because it usually does the exact opposite. Usually better to lower the tempo and maybe tick expressive passing

    The shouts feature needs redoing on this game, man. And there needs to be descriptions of how they work and what they do and when to do them. Right now they're so vague. There's probably too many of them too tbh. And the results are laughable sometimes like why would "encourage" lead to a player being "frustrated by the shout"? Tighten up and push forward never seem to work how they should. Players always just get overwhelmed or frustrated. If you're defending a lead in the 87th minute why would you players get "frustrated" by your "Tighten up" shout?! It's stupid af. When are you supposed to do show some passion as opposed to concentrate? Aslo

      FM Base thanks! This might be a big jump from the topic, but looking for a quick tip. I’m playing Bristol Rovers and got promoted to Premier league within 2 years. My players earn 2-11k eur/week. My initial scouting and attempts to sign average Premier league players require 40-70k eur/week or so. What would you suggest to do? Increase current players salaries or do anything no to have such huge gaps? Or maybe leave current players as it is and simply sign leaders for the team for 5-10x more than they earn? Thanks!!!

    • @berserker_2886
      @berserker_2886 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're hard to get anything positive from until you build a run of good form, whatever you say you want them all green, a fail-safe way to ensure this is to select one that boosts their confidence (use passionate) if they don't all turn green, select DEFENCE "I have faith in you go out there and make a difference" then midfield, then attack, more often than not they should all turn green, this varies a little depending on team morale and personal player relationships eg if you've pissed one of your lads off they don't respond well to team talks and often don't turn green in response, or if you haven't built up a good run of form, the team one you pick at the beginning doesn't always work, experiment with the team one at the beginning and you start to get a feel for it, if I'm playing a weaker team I often say assertively or aggressively I demand a win on the main pre-match team talk, I think these commands also probably are affected by your attributes for determination and motivating (I always select both on 20)

    I'm going to be honest, I never use shouts. Why? Because for the most part, they're just a temporary buff that you could get by changing your tactic. For example: Get Creative. If I feel the need to shout this, than that usually means that I need to fix my link up play, or that I need to tick on Be More Expressive. And if you find yourself shouting this often this is the real answer, Get Creative is just a band-aid fix that you could solve forever. All shouts are band-aids. Keep this in mind.

    I used to use "get creative", "demand more" and "praise" .... seemed to be working as they were all green and happy about my shouts, but I was not doing as well as I wanted. Then I let my ass manager do it, he says the wrong the stuff all the time but it seems to be working, things are going far better now.
    I also stopped praising people after a game, someone told me not to praise happy players and I havn´t looked back since.
    I have stopped taking FM seriously though as a football management game, I just do it because I am addicted. When you sit top of the premier league with a conversion rate of 5% ... then something is very wrong with stats, even Vanarama sides have a far superior conversion rate regardless of their tactics in real life.
