Mark Craney is the drummer on this song and album. He was also the drummer for Jethro Tull in 1980-81.

Hard to believe, but they were just as good live. Scary good.

Excellent. I knew you would like Gino when you finally got to him. There is plenty more like that in his catalog. That whole album is fire.

Another fine contributor to that explosion of music in the 70's. Haven't heard this in years but it takes me straight back to my college dormitory days (and those horrible '77, 78 winters).

Gino Vannelli, legendary artist, I remember seeing him on Soul Train in the mid 70's doing a Live Set, one of a very few artist ever given that privilege on Soul Train. Also him touring with Stevie Wonder in the mid 70's, that introduced him to the Black Audience and made the Soul Train, opportunity possible.

    Yeay for another Montreal artist!
(Gino has been a respected professional Opera singer for decades, now.)

The late Mr. Mark Craney hitting the drums. Yes, he is quite the octopus and this is pretty much a show-off festival. All the musicians there are beasts, including Gino. Even in the latest years, he's still got his voice and he's still killing it live. Check out any "Brother To Brother" version live. It's always FIRE, and yes. The song is REALLY HARD to learn and even more so to really nail it, no matter what instrument. Maybe that's why Gino is rather popular among musicians and singers. He is a fantastic singer and he's said to be a good a drummer as well.
BTW... the chill groove at 06:54, right after the instrumental part is an all time favourite.

Do "I feel like flying" by Gino Vannelli. Nice groove, vocals, bass, and synth.

I saw Gino on tour when this album came in Ft Worth at the Tarrant County convention center in ‘78.
Never forget him coming out in a #33 Tony Dorset jersey and shiny blue spandex pants.
They killed it!!! Being a drummer myself, this was a pivotal song in my life. I remember all the hype over Neil Peart and thought, “You people obviously haven’t heard any of the drummers on Gino’s albums like Mark Craney, Graham Lear and Casey Scheurell.

Gino Vannelli. It's about time somebody did some Gino. You're my hero. He's a drummer too, but he was too pretty to be behind a kit. You gotta check out the video of him on Soul Train. Peace

The late 70s jazz rock fusion was a great time for experimental music

Early Gino was very tympani heavy with more than a little Santana vibe. Busy, busy music. Nice!

Thanks Tre, i felt the same way when I first heard it. Great to see your reaction and appreciation,. Yep, it got NASTY. Jimmy haslip on Bass and Mark Craney drums, Carlos Rios on guitar. Desert island vinyl for me. Fosho
Also note the ladies on background vocals, all over this record.

He's got MUCH better songs than this. Some like posting obscure songs.
