      @digitalcamaraderie5685 if you don’t have wire connections to your brake calipers then you don’t have damage

    You pushed the rear piston back in from the outside pad? Is there any other way or method to push it in?

    Really how is Toyota grease any different? I never had problems with using Permatex brake caliper grease. Toyota is just making extra $$$ for putting their name on it the packaging.

      Adam, what do you mean electric brake? Parking brake activated by push button?

    • @adamm5612
      @adamm5612 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adam, if your rear brake caliper looks like mine and doesn't have cable attached to it, just brake hose. Then just push the cylinder back like I did and you don't need software. If you don't have cable attached to the brake caliper then you have brake shoes for parking brake and brake pads for rear brakes. To change brake shoes if you have them, then you will need software more likely.

    6:44 BAD CHOICE. The grease will partially SLIDE OFF as you push the pin into the hole, LEAVING MINIMAL AMOUNT GOING INSIDE. THE RIGHT THING TO DO - APPLY GREASE INTO THE HOLE. When the pin is pushed , all space gets filled with grease, as it squirts out, giving better contact and protection.

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did apply grease inside the hole. Maybe I am not showing in the video.

      @@repairvehicle Thank you... I have just finished replacing the rear brake pads on my car. I would like to stress, that your video, particularly the reminder on the inspection of the pins were very valuable and made a big difference in my work. I would have simply ignored their state otherwise. Also, a question. A while back, as well as today, I saw that the pins on the same carrier are different. It appears that one has a rubber band bushing around the tip of it. This was the lower pin. Why are pins different in their construction? I believe they may have been made of different metals as well...

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the pin size difference is to prevent pins from sticking when it's gets very hot and when it's Cold rubber band is to prevent it from being to loose. When metal cold it's shrinks and when metal hot it expands.
