I noticed that the rear brake pads don't use the spring clips like the front brakes do. I wonder why this is, and how do they not constantly rub on the rear roter?
it’s because the back brakes requires less force since all the weight goes to the front. this makes the rotares smaller leaving less space for the springs
Hey there wasnt a v spring when you took the brakes off.. but then you had them when you put everything back on. Did it come with the kit you got or something? Were changing my brakes and there is no v spring. Help!
Some kits don't come with them, and sometimes they are not previously installed when I do a brake job (like in this video). I don't think this vehicle uses them on the rear brakes, and I didn't see that I put them on in the video... The intent of the V-springs is to provide a little outward pressure to prevent the brake pads from dragging on the rotor causing premature wear and potentially some noise. They are not super critical to the operation and normal function of the brake system. I have been in many situations where I wasn't able to install them on the replacement pads. For example, sometimes the replacement pads don't have the tiny holes in the edge of the backing plate for them. I think you'll be fine without installing them...but, that's just my opinion... In other words, make that decision at your own risk. Best of luck to you! Take care, -Dan
@DantheFixitMan thank you! We watched about 5 more videos on the 14 camry and none of them had V springs. So we figured it's just this specific year/model that doesn't absolutely require them. I appreciate your help and your video! Update, we ended up needing a new caliper too. It was ground down so badly and leaking fluid lol.. so $250 later.. we're back on the road 🫡
I don't think there would really be much of a difference on the brake pads and rotors. I have only done brakes on a Toyota Prius hybrid and they were the same as most non-hybrid vehicles. Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man
Yes, just a little bit on the face to help dampen vibrations and keep them quiet. I was using regular caliper grease, but the higher temp silicone based grease would last longer. Thanks for watching!

That makes sense! Thanks
Thanks for the simple tutorial, made this diy guy confident that I could do the job. Keep up the great content!
Great Video. Simple and to the point

@ I’m glad to hear you got it fixed!
I have a 2012 and was wondering if you need there is “service mode” for 2012??? Thx
Is there a difference between regular and hybrid as far as brakes goes? Cant find any videos on doing them on hybrid model and wasnt sure.

Great video. Thank you!!
Thanks 🙏🏽
Thanks man
Did you grease up the piston as well?

Nice
You forgot the retainer pins. To separate the pads after pressing the brake pedals.
thank you
