Great video. Very helpful. Have you added the video explaining how to get the best image from a PTZOptics camera. I would love to see a video about configuring the Stream Deck to control PTZOptics cameras while loading macros on an ATEM mini or mini pro. It’s a big ask, I know. But thanks for reading this.
Wow what a great video. Thanks for the information. I just have one ❓ I already have a few pages on my stream deck. How do I add your configuration starting on page 3?
Have you considered doing a new video using Companion's new version using variables. This gives you the ability to put 2 (or more) cameras on one page of buttons. Select the camera (which sets the IP variables) then using the HTTP CGI commands (using the variable) to control the cameras.
Hello, a great video. I have a question. about Streamdeck and the Lumens Controller VS-KB30 Thanks to your great instructions, I was able to program my Streamdeck wonderfully. I still have problems with a key assignment with multiple functions. When you press the button, the stream deck and the desired one switch to the correct camera, and the breath from Blackmagic switches the camera to my preview monitor. Now it would be ideal if the button had the command that the Lumens Controller VS-KB30 would also switch to this camera so that I can operate the camera immediately. Unfortunately I couldn't find such a protocol. I could imagine that you address the IP of the control and the F1 key for camera 1 triggers F2 for camera 2 and F3 for camera 3This would make working with multiple cameras much easier. I would like to thank you in advance for an answer.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that controller has any capability for communication "in," like midi or ip, or anything that could be used externally to select a camera.
Yeah I have the same need as it’s easier to use two lots of 12 presets (one per ptz camera) on one keypad rather then to switch pages. Could we please have an answer? Thanks heaps for the tutorial it’s so good
Hello thank you very much. You help most is us during the pandemic. I just wanted to ask you how can I use Straem deck to turn on and off PTZ optic camera? Here is the hexacode Power ON/OFF 81 01 04 00 02 FF 81 01 04 00 03 FF
The cameras connect to the computer over a network. The stream deck is using the companion program on the computer to send out commands over the network.
There is a control module in Companion that will control any camera that will respond to Sony VISCA protocol, so while I haven't tried it, you should be able to get it to work with most PTZ cameras.
My file no longer works with the current version of Companion. But you should be able to easily make your own version using the steps shown here. I also have on my website a link to the button graphics if you want to use those. It's linked in the description above.
Loved the video. Have you made the next video for stream deck and obs. I have not managed to find it. Also in using companion with stream deck, is it possible to set the a stream deck button to loop through a number of obs scenes using delay between scenes and then looping back to the the first action. My though was that on clicking another button the loop with stop.
Hi, Nice and very learnsome video! Big thank you for that! I 've seen that there's also a "custom visca command" option on Bitfocus Companion PTZOptics instances. I tried to have OSD on by putting in 81 01 04 3F 02 5F FF. But it only gives me Javascript crash report. Have you been using it?
we had the same problem when we where putting a line in custom visca command were get the same crash report. We added a generic http request interface in connection and then we made a button with HTTP-CGI Control links.
Excellent work, Stephen! I installed your configuration and it's been working well in my office. Real test at an event on June 5. The only thing I changed was going back to the Stream Deck app, and under the Default Profile, I deleted the action of the center key that opened up the Elgato website every time it was pressed (notably pan left). This slowed ops down until the site was loaded then it would process the 10 times you pressed left. So you end up with a browser with 100 tabs open in no time. I couldn't find a way to delete that function within your configuration. I'm probably going to flip pages 1 & 2 so I get the stored presets first when paging down from the control page and don't accidentally overwrite a preset. Also, when installing Companion, Trend Micro flagged it as ransomware. It didn't appear to actually be that, but caused a bit of worry. Excellent tutorial! You made short work of getting up to speed with Stream Deck!
Ya, I don't even run the Stream Deck app so there isn't any conflict with Companion. Glad to hear its working for you. I'm probably going to create a "single camera" version as well soon that has a few more camera controls.

Can I use Stream Deck's original software and Companion? Or I need to choose between them? I would like, maybe, to have a button with Companion in original Stream Deck's software to access it whenever I want. Im asking because I don't have a streamdeck yet and I can't test anything. I'm looking forward to buy one. Thanks
yeah i got the import to work....accidentally deleted it from my profiles on my stream deck software and now i cannot get it to re import on my stream deck...cannot get the profile to populate like it did before....any suggestions???
Are you going to update the software for the Honey Optics camera, if that is necessary? It would be nice if the buttons had custom labels. Can we also set up some of the buttons with the elgato software to open OBS and Start/Stop live stream?
The communication protocol is exactly the same for the Honey Optics cameras, so it should work as is. As far as I know (and maybe things have changed) but you either have to use companion or the elgato software for the stream deck. That being said there are functions of OBS you can control with companion, but I haven't really looked in to it much yet.
Thank you for the video and the presets! Did you set camera move speed inside of Companion? I want to slow down camera movement speed as it just zips around between recalled presets

If you are purchasing something to be dedicated to live streaming, and not a multi-use computer that you will use for your other purposes, then I'd go with a PC. Like you said, you'll get a lot more of a computer for what you pay, and when it comes to live streaming you'll need as much horsepower as you can get.
This works because Companion has a module for controlling PTZOptics cameras. There is a module for the Sony VISCA protocol. You'd have to see if that works with your cameras. You can download and use Companion without the StreamDeck hardware. Just use the emulator page of the GUI to try out your "buttons" and see if you can control your cameras.

I think I need a little help. I downloaded your files from the links above and everything went fine until I tried to import your configuration file into Companion. For reasons I don't understand, Companion seems to only import 10 out of 12 buttons. As a result, the first page (presets) looks like this: Camera 1/Preset 1, Camera 1/Preset 2, Camera 1/Preset 3, Camera 1/Preset 4 Camera 2/Preset 2, Camera 2/Preset 3, Camera 2/Preset 4, Camera 3/Preset 1 Camera 3/Preset 3, Camera 3/Preset 4 The following pages also follow this pattern (i.e., the icons for 2.5 and 2.10 are missing). If I want to live stream in 1080p and to handle complex on stream graphics would you recommend me to go for a MacBook pro 32gb i9 with 4gb graphics ( which is expensive) or a windows laptop ( a beast at a price of mac)?...thankyou!
If you are purchasing something to be dedicated to live streaming, and not a multi-use computer that you will use for your other purposes, then I'd go with a PC. Like you said, you'll get a lot more of a computer for what you pay, and when it comes to live streaming you'll need as much horsepower as you can get.
Would this work on a Bolin PTZ ? what protocol?
This works because Companion has a module for controlling PTZOptics cameras. There is a module for the Sony VISCA protocol. You'd have to see if that works with your cameras. You can download and use Companion without the StreamDeck hardware. Just use the emulator page of the GUI to try out your "buttons" and see if you can control your cameras.

Will your program work with a Stream Deck XL?
Has anyone tried using a second Stream Deck so each deck can control its own camera?
Sir, ive been working with my camera, roland v1hd switcher, laptop.
But it wont work. Can you help me?
What's not working? What camera?
Ballast Media i was working with Lumix GH5. Here is my setup.
Lumix GH5 (main camera) -- (HDMI CORD) - Roland V1HD - RV1HD (output) - black magic mini recorder - macbook pro OBS.
(I think somethings wrong here.)
@@gerardkirkpatricksanchez2121 Do you see the camera image in the switcher multiview? My first assumption would be the switcher is outputting 1080p60 and the Mini Recorder doesn't support that format. Are you not getting an image on the computer?
I think I need a little help. I downloaded your files from the links above and everything went fine until I tried to import your configuration file into Companion. For reasons I don't understand, Companion seems to only import 10 out of 12 buttons. As a result, the first page (presets) looks like this:
Camera 1/Preset 1, Camera 1/Preset 2, Camera 1/Preset 3, Camera 1/Preset 4
Camera 2/Preset 2, Camera 2/Preset 3, Camera 2/Preset 4, Camera 3/Preset 1
Camera 3/Preset 3, Camera 3/Preset 4
The following pages also follow this pattern (i.e., the icons for 2.5 and 2.10 are missing). Any thoughts?
It appears Companion introduced a change somewhere in its history that messed up Stephen's configuration file. I've since updated the file and provided it to him for review.
Hi, @@UKCG_2. Would you be able to share your updated file?
@@nicholasgeorghiou2048 I was hoping Stephen would post the update, but suspect he’s been overrun with other priorities. If you’re still interested, just post your email address and I’ll send it to you directly.
@@UKCG_2, I was able to recreate myself. Thanks for the offer Will.
@@UKCG_2 please send me the update thanks you carolina.baltes@ekir.de
I could not get the download to download
I still don't understand how to connect them to obs
Hi,my PTZ camera has a Login / password. Companion status still show "connecting" but can't control the camera. I can't find where indicate a login / password. Not possible ??
admin/admin
@@BallastMedia thanks for quick answer. My problem is that I don't know where I have to write the login / password in companion ☹
Status is now ok but nothing happen when I press a button configure as Pan or tilt...
I still don't understand how to connect them to obs, this one looks like a wall camera
What kind of camera do you have? If you have a ptzoptics camera there are two ways, either through the network connection or via the regular video SDI connection. These two videos describe each method: th-cam.com/video/i_Cncshlc6g/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/7ReB-KyL-eQ/w-d-xo.html
@@BallastMedia great job. I need your email address please.
