      Abandoned TattooTonyAlton Exploring a tragedy of epic proportions. I'm sure had they been asked, most St. Louis citizens would gladly have paid a few additional tax dollars to save this wonderful historic building. congratulations St Louis. your town now looks just like all the other towns in dollar general's new America.

    I used to work in that building in the late 80s, washing limousines and funeral coaches. Kriegshauser South on Kingshighway had an unheated garage so in cold weather I had to run the cars to Southern to wash them. Terrible shame. Used to be a canopy on the north side of the building by the side entrance till a UHaul truck knocked it down in the 80s and they never replaced it. Lots of history there.

    Tony, As someone who built windows and doors like the ones that are in this building, the biggest waste is to see these beautiful windows and doors just destroyed. To have a salvage company come in and save all this wonderful wood work and reuse it is what should be done. Not just the windows and doors but the corbels and ceiling beams as well. SO SAD!!

    Love it, excellent job! My dad told me when I was in my teen's "You're going to be doin some dumb shit, I was young once too, whatever you do, or get involved with don't ever desecrate a church, or cemetery " I guess funeral home's, would fall into this category too... you looked at a short white pillar/podium type thing, that had what look's like a white plastic chain, laying on top of it. at the base of that is a small gold colored cross, it's long gone now... I wonder what happened to the little girl 👻 , that could be seen in the window up stair's, after this Funeral Home was razed?

    A very fitting title for your video. As a paranormal investigator, I am aware of the many things that imprint themselves on these buildings, almost as if the building itself was an extension of the people who were once there. Funeral Homes especially I find store that energy and from time to time, it releases and the lucky might capture it when it happens. All the emotions and thoughts and feelings that came through that building were imprinted on the bricks and mortar and the very foundation. Nobody passed through that building without leaving some part of themselves in it and those who study the paranormal know exactly what I am talking about. Vandals just look at these places as targets for their ill advised damage. They have no thoughts as to the history of the site, no thoughts as to who or what might be watching them as they go about their destruction. But little do they realize that those who have transcended the physical reality have their own ways of exacting judgement on those who destroy without any reverence or thought and it does happen more than you would think. I can only hope that those who saw fit to destroy this building and mar it without thought were visited by these souls and taught the error of their ways.

      Decay of Alberta it was magnificent. i take it there is no historical society in St. Louis. I pray to God an architectural salvage firm was called before this piece of art was knocked down. what? no architectural salvage in St. Louis? entrepreneurs, there's a business for you.

    • @decayofalberta1520
      @decayofalberta1520 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      owlpower me there might be some kind of Society like that. The The deconstruction of the building was stopped. In st. Louis, there might be hundreds of building that have a historic value. The problem is protecting them. In Alberta, the town would keep of building up as a historic site. I've explored s couple.

    • @01splitpea
      @01splitpea 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Decay of Alberta according to Tony (see comments), the building has been demolished. costs a lot to preserve them, but Savannah, Georgia saves a handful of antibellum homes each year. there just has to be a political, social, cultural will. the answer is for the city not to allow structures to be neglected in the first place. can't care for it? by law, it must be privately sold within 24 months, or donated to the city for auction.

    • @decayofalberta1520
      @decayofalberta1520 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      owlpower me i didn't know that law about the city's. Thank you for informing me. I just watch the second video this morning. In Alberta, it depends on the town. In Hinescreek, ab. I live outside of it. They saved the granary mill from being demolished. A farmer bought it. In Fairview, ab they took theirs down. The small town try to preserve the old historic buildings. But like the church I filmed. They just don't have the money. It seems that you have to like the history of the building to preserve it.

    At 16:52, those benches are "Kneelers." People can come up to an occupied casket & pray for the dead, or visit with the dead, & kneel there & mourn for the dead friend, family member, etc.
    One kneels on the bottom cushion, & leans one's elbows on the upper cushion.
    Some people use kneelers at their wedding, in a religious wedding ceremony, up close to the altar or inner sanctum of a chapel. Catholic ceremonies use them alot.
    Sometimes they are at a chapel railing where votive/prayer candles can be lit, & someone (usually catholics) will ask for something as they kneel there after having lit one of the candles, & depositing a coin or two for the cost of the candle(s).

    Its interesting places you expect paranormal activity (well the kind you see) and the places you actually do our quite different. This place is quiet so far at 11:08 from the left side of the screen you will see a little whisp of white smoke? its faint but its not dust definitely not a bug- it stops looks at Tony and moves on, size doesn't matter in the spirit world (imo) some of the most powerful spirits that people encounter are similar floating snake/worm like mists, yet these can and do change form, actually most of what we see is a mirage I think anyway.

  • @ZeitgeistWI

    All that said, the land will still be there even after the last remnants of the building itself are gone. Perhaps there will be some residual energy left on the property itself. One could hope that the positive energies imprinted there will remain and make anything that is built there retain the energy of all the good that was experienced there in the past. If the building could not be preserved, at least its memory and the energy it contained can remain for all who look at that space with fond remembrance as having some importance in their lives.

    This is so heartbreaking. My father's family was/is from St. Louis. My grandmother quite likely had her funeral at this place in 1963. This whole area has been destroyed. They lived on Prairie, which is one or two streets from Grand Blvd in a duplex, one on top where my grandmother and aunt lived and one on the bottom where my uncle and his wife lived. Some of the best memories of my young years were visits to that house. Everyone on the street knew everyone else. There was a little grocery mart down on the corner. It was just a wonderful place. Now it is a ghetto. The actual house where they lived has been burned down. So, so sad that these wonderful places are gone.

      virginia alvarez St. Louis area. Midwestern accent with a little bit of southern sound I guess is how I would describe. Midwesterners are all slightly different.

    No that thing you asked about is a prayer bench. You kneel on the bottom cushioned area and put your arms over the top cushioned area. Mostly Catholics use that.

    Tony, this place has been explored many times on the tube. Why do we need two 23-some minute segments on it? Respectfully, come on man.
