I own one of these and am still blown away by it. It completely holds it's own with my more recent era Gibson Les Paul Custom Axcess and my '89 Gibson Les Paul Custom. Zero QC issues out of the box. I blacked out the bridge with a Tone Pros set and put black Gotoh locking tuners on it. Mostly just for aesthetics. The sustain on these models is really impressive and I think it's got something to do with the long neck tenon, as well as the maple neck. Can't recommend these enough, great features for the price tag. Zero regrets.

Nice video, I own this guitar, I decided to buy it, because I have always loved custom LPs, but I wasn't willing to pay its price. with this Epiphone I had the aesthetics of the custom at a reasonable price, what amazed me was the sound of this guitar! it's fantastic.. it beats or equals my standard '98 Gibson LP. I'm super satisfied, the only thing, maybe the mechanics aren't the best, but they keep the tuning..

Great video like always. Seems like a great guitar! To be honest though, I have to say that in Canada, for its price new (2150$ +tx), there are many many other guitars I'd buy before that one, namely Edwards and LTDs. Even a Gibson LP studio. Nothing against Epiphone personally, but I think it's a bit steep. On a side note, that moment at 5:15 when you threw the knife behind you, I was like ''Duuuuuude, close it just in case something happens!!!'' lol

Glad you finally got your AJ 79 and that you're enjoying it! I posted about mine in your fb group a couple weeks ago, awesome guitar along with the Inspired by Gibson Alpine White Les Paul Custom I got. One thing I didn't like about this guitar, however, were the stock tuners. They were really bad, at least on mine. I swapped them with these cheap Guyker locking tuners off Amazon that were a direct swap, no drilling or anything, and it holds tune much better, as good as a set of locking Gotohs or Grovers. I might post about it in the group in case anyone else is running into the same issue and is looking to fix it without permanently modding the guitar.

You're experience is very similar to mine at a Guitar Center here in Orlando. It was the best Epiphone I've ever played. It's on another level from the regular production models, beyond the Gibson and Seymour Duncan electronics. I hate poly necks, but the Epi was very nice feeling. Smooth and fast, not tacky. I was able to play through a Savage 120, 5150 III Stealth, Friedman Runt and a Fender Twin. It sounds great through whatever.

When looking at the guitar when Kyle was playing it, the neck and inlays looked really good. You could definitely see the upgraded components..esp the inlays. But the body/paint/finish still looks like an Epiphone. The poly shine is obvious. Regardless, it is a nice guitar. But for that price, I would rather buy a used Gibson. Seriously..you can find used Gibsons for the price of a new, high-end, Epiphone. Just two weeks ago, when shopping for a new guitar, I was tempted to buy one of these new Epiphones, but I found a Gibson LP Jr. that cost less than pretty much all of the new Epiphones. Since I have wanted a Junior for the last 30 years, I bought it. Glad I did too.

At one point in their set, he hopped up on top of the bar with his mic, and was running back and forth doing his thing. It was a great show in a little local club here.
    RIP, Eddie.
Edit: I just read that lung cancer took him. I had no idea he'd been ill the past few years. I kinda fell away from the scene as I got older and life got busier. Man, that's sad. He was only 15 years older than me.

Those are sik, was checking a few of those out at Guitar Center almost a few months ago. Definitely cool. But if it wasn’t for those; I saw the white Epi LP custom with the black binding / gold hardware for $649. Didn’t think twice and got the white one. Put in gold Grover keystone locking tuners, gold knobs,StewMac LP premium wire kit with push/pull CTS pots / gold switchcraft toggle / orange drop capacitors. Pickups I went with one gold DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and a white with gold posts Steve Morse in the neck. Spent a little less than the Adam Jones and was able to pick and choose what I want. …now I want the case so I guess it is about the same after all the mods

I put the neck pickup out of my "The Berserker" custom art version in the bridge position of this guitar. Then flipped the Custombucker in the neck, back around to normal. Honestly, its the best matched pickup set I have.
Its my belief this supposed Probucker Custom from "The Berserker" is just an overwound Custombucker, built specifically to better match the Distortion. I'm not a big Distortion fan, and am really glad I swapped these pickups around to come up with this combo. Everytime I play it now, it kinda freaks me out how good it sounds. With EMGs in "The Berserker" and Gotoh keystone tuners on both of them. I often find myself fighting off a rager, if I have them both out at the same time. I have to be carefull not to O.D. on LesPaul Custom silverbursts.

Epiphone makes a decent Chinese guitar. Waaaay overpriced, but decent, and it fits the bill for anyone brand loyal. Nut oil, maybe, would stabilize tuning. And for what its worth, barebones amp with clean signal and then effects later is what i think it easier to understand on our side of the screen. No knocks on you for knowing how to run effects and having a great studio, mind you.

Was Adam Jones even alive in 1979? What's with the a55-cheese naming conventions for Gibson [edit: I'm an idiot] LPs?

He was (born in 1965) and his main guitar for years has been his 79 silverburst lp custom. I’ve got nothing on the naming conventions though lol

The naming comes from Adam, as does all the artwork. For decades he has been in the Special FX world for movies, TV shows, video games, etc. His wife is also an incredible artist. May sound cheesy to you guys but actually has a deeper meaning to them.

I've been hearing about these on Reddit and people praising them. *I'm still ultimately a "junk brand" guy anyway.* If it's over $500, it's rare I think it's worth it I don't care who's name is on it, where it's made, the model type etc.
I've bought $200 neck-thru super strats from China even 20 years ago that were easily equal to the signature model ESP's, LTD's and Ibanezes I had played in the day.
*I must also interject, there's no way on earth that's actually mother of pearl lol.* It's a high grade acrylic pearloid, but even American made Gibson's don't use it anymore but for very, very rare models.

Nope, specs are real MOP for all the inserts on that and some of the other new Epiphones. That’s just one of the reasons they cost more. And USA LP Standards and 1959 reissue bursts all use acrylic pearloid, because that is/was period correct and what they’ve always used on LP Standards. So, they didn’t “stop” using MOP on USA LP Standards, it was never used for Standards, has always been the upgrade available on LP Customs and other special run LP’s.
