The riff battle in the intro is every Jimmy Page fan's dream.
Which all of them where played on a Les Paul
@@movus5 - The first two albums are all Telecaster. He didn't get his "Number 1" LP until 1969. The solo from Stairway is also a Tele. So yeah, a couple of those were on a Tele.
@@ScutMonkey he had the Les Paul throughout the recording of the second album
@@jon.wilson Well, technically he had a black Les Paul Custom since the mid '60s.
@@Pandamasque I was referring to his #1. He never seemed particularly impressed by the Custom, not until 1970 when he had it modded and started to use it live more often. I would be surprised if it made its way onto the second album.
WOW! That Kahsmir verson was so cool!!!!
It's played right. That's why it sounds so different than most on youtube. It's nowhere near as simple as most people try to make it.
I've heard Page explained on more than one interview was that it was played on a Danelectro. The 1st was on the session with The Edge and Jack White....."It Might Get Loud" I think is the name of it.
The best part of It Might Get Loud is Jimmy showing Jack and the Edge how to play Kashmir and prowling around the sound stage like he is playing at Wembley.
Absolutely, loved that movie, 3 legends especially Jimmy and the Edge.
If I recall it was Whole Lotta Love not Kashmir
@@zosojstro Both, there was a short clip of Whole Lotta Love as well. :D Apparently there was a lot of riffs shared between them behind the scenes as well. Like Bullet the Blue Sky before they did In My Time of Dying.
@@zosojstro here is the link, brother :) th-cam.com/video/ODidAgdL40Y/w-d-xo.html
And it was played on a Danelctro in DADGAD tuning.
Pete's Kashmir intro was just EPIC. :-)
I played that mirror Tele for a while at my favorite local shop and knew it was the best sounding Tele i'd played even before plugging it in. Brilliantly setup and those pickups are unique!
I spotted that Tele on the top shelf at a Guitar Center and the dude that worked there didn't even know what it was. I played it and thought it was awesome but I think for a Mexican Tele it's vastly overpriced. If it was American I'd probably buy it but I just have that "thing" in my mind that makes me buy American only when it comes to Fender.
@@SimpleManGuitars1973 American Teles are made bye mexicans.
@@SimpleManGuitars1973 US are not better. They just have better parts and more variety of specs like radii and rosewood instead of pau ferro abomination
The mirror is US made, mate. The Dragon is Mex.
@@guyincognito320so it’s better… lol
facebook people be like "would you accept my squire tele for trade?"
"I got a $60 dollar acoustic."
Lmfao, that’s pretty funny
Nah first they'd say "would you accept a tele for a trade?"
You say "maybe, what model?"
They reply "it's a squier"
You say "bye"
“Hey bro I got a epiphone les paul special in MINT condition”
It comes with a gig bag
Pete playing Zep with fire. Turns out I'm still able to feel happy....honestly I had no idea!
stevieboy444 r u alright bro
That kashmir intro is has so much energy i come back and watch the first minute a few times and go about my day. pete really is a wonder.
I’ve got the dragon tele myself. It’s awesome! 🤘🏻
Holy mother of all gods! The best Andertons intro EVER!
Bought the mirrored one kept it about two weeks ago and took it back.$2499.00 liked a 58 ri better it cost $1100 used and saved some cash. It just looked and felt cheap for the price they were asking for it.
I actually bought the dragon tele. I waited 3 months for it and when it arrived I was totally disappointed in the set up. The frets were barely even touched. Intonation was off by a ton. I ended up changing the vintage saddles with brass compensated saddles and setting the neck myself. I also did the frets. Now it sounds absolutely incredible and the sustain from the new saddles is insane. The strings going through the saddle is called " top loaded" by the way and from behind is called "through body".
Great video guys.
I'm winning the Euro Millions lottery next week apparently, so I'd like the option of coming up (from Cornwall) for lunch and an unboxing video please.
Just a reminder that I'd like my time machine back please. You've had it since next June, which is kind of taking the piss.
If you didn't get your time machine back within seconds of lending it out then you're in trouble.
@@egan452 I eventually got it back tomorrow but it won't cool down until last Tuesday. Sucks to be me.
@@davidf2281 I love this entire thread
@@DavidvdGulik Love is great and all, but when the bread burns your hand before you’ve even put it in the toaster you’ll wish you’d stumped up for the pre-reversal compensators. Trust me, I’ve been there. In about an hour.
They both looked stunning, but I am definitely more attracted to Lee's guitar! The reflection of light onto it is pristine, although I wouldn't want face it into someone's eye Haha. Awesome!
@@septtau That's awesome to hear man. I would love to acquire one at some point!
Get the dragon! Got to agree with @@septtau! Got myself one too and the unboxing is an awesome experience. Just the colors as the case opens up. Mindblowing. Added to this is the truncated history of the dragon guitar that was wrecked by a "friend" of Page. It's like a time machine in a box if you get what I mean. A true slice of rock and roll history reborn.
@@SaurondorThat's really awesome man! I definitely hear you!
Ill never get tired of all of you guys jamming and talking about guitars
When you played “ the lemon song” got goosebumps
Killer guitars! I've been lucky enough to play the custom shop ones, but the usa and Mexican ones are still killer!!
The best intro to an Anderton's video ever!
Tyler Angle FACT
"I'd say it was probably LSD". Made me laugh out loud!
Bought the Dragon a couple months ago at the guitar center here in Pittsburgh. I love it and it sounds amazing.
Proof once again Jimmy wrote the best riffs evah! I like the white one. True his tone isn't super distorted.
I wonder how long it's going to be before I hear or see anything more epic than Danish Pete playing Kashmir
I actually pre-ordered the made in Mexico Dragon Tele, but Fender actually changed the spec last minute from a satin nitro body to a gloss urethane one. And they didn't even bother to send an email. I returned it immediately. Still kinda miffed at you Fender. If I'm overpaying for a signature guitar and you still skimp, that's when you're no better than Gibson.
@SonicChronos There's two main differences. First is satin vs gloss. Satin, like they originally specified, is a smooth, matte like finish. It's not really reflective so even when a light is shining on the guitar you wouldn't get glare, the psychedelic paint colors would just pop. With a gloss finish it is stickier and very reflective so if you shone a light on it all you'd see is a white glare spot.
Secondly is nitro vs polyurethane. Nitro has a very thin, in touch with the wood feel, that would beautifully age and wear down over time in a very unique wayto your guitar. And since the body is made of ash, the nitro would have a chance to sink into the grain and get this beautiful texture to the wood. Plus the neck is nitro finished so why do that? Polyurethane on the other hand is a thicker, harder wearing finish that has almost a plastic, encapsulated feel to it. It won't wear down as many traditional instruments do, but will keep the guitar looking pristine for probably ever. If you do drop if or ding it the finish will come out in chunks.
Both of these are down to personal preference but I bought this guitar because, aside from my love of Zep and the legendary artwork, was because spec-wise it was everything I wanted in a Telecaster. This was my ultimate guitar, but then I received it after waiting like 7 months playing a shaffordable Yamaha Pacifica and I was like, this wasn't what I ordered. Why you gotta do me dirty like that Fender?
@SonicChronos it's more of a feel thing
What's the price point?
@@silverpairaducks Mexican Dragon was $1,500 while American White Blonde was $2,500.
@@realgoodmind Exactly
So when will you be getting Jimmy Page on The Captain Meets? I've seen him doing the rounds just recently on all sorts of non-entity little radio shows and so on, so I am sure he'd like to do a good interview for you if you asked him nicely. He still lives in London.
Jeez Captain, I have been watching you for years. You've really gotten excellent on that fiddle!!!
Beck and Page. How cool would it be if you and your mate went on to become guitarists in bands, then in the same band, then to become groundbreaking, then end up as two of the greatest guitarists ever? All starting in a living room in South London.
The captain is entertaining as always!
That custom shop pair is roughly half my yearly salary, and I can't even afford them.
I'll tell you what, if those guitars are still hanging around the shop in a decade, I'll buy them once I'm through med school.
JRod That’s roughly double my yearly salary, no way I’d ever be able to afford that!
@@willturnbull91 Just gotta create the proper opportunity for increased prosperity. You can achieve anything you put your mind to!
Overkilled they’re not nitro finished though
Lol I know right?? 😢
OMG, Pete's playing at the beginning brings my always back to that 'Andertons TV Band' thingy...
Pete nailed it ,he needs to buy it!
It Might Get Loud inspired me to start playing guitar 7 years ago! Before that, I thought the guitar was just what everyone did and I wanted to be different and play the bass. Watching that film changed everything! I bought my first guitar right after and now I'm teaching guitar and playing every day!
Literally same exact story for me except that was 2 months ago. Played bass for years, watched It Might Get Loud, went and bought a telecaster haha! Also side note, my first song I've been working on mastering is Living Loving Maid from Zep.
@@SandboxQuint Right on man! Can't go wrong with that!
Cool! Can't wait for that video when someone hopefully buys that set of guitars!
Awe yeah! When Pete hammered into Kashmir my day was made. \m/
Was In Corona California just before the Page Tele was launched and saw a few a batch of necks that were just made. Further on tour saw the finished product waiting to have it's final check before being put in the case and boxed up. Tour guide let me get my hands on one for a few minutes. At that moment guitar brain took over and was chanting "Must have one".
Have owned it a few months now and it is a bit different than other Teles, yet the same. Love the neck!!! PUP's are the best I've had on a Tele (for my playing style). Sold two of my other Teles since as the Mirror Tele is by far my Fav! Yes a Lot of cash for a non custom shop, still worth every penny.
Jimmy Page’s tele was a 59’ notable for being the first year of “top load strings” top mount strings went away after a little while, what’s interesting about Jimmy’s guitar is that since fender didn’t waste parts it got a string through body and a top load bridge, so you could do both.
Fender swapped to top loading bridges in Teles for a short while between mid -'58 and mid-'59. Some people liked it, most didn't, so they swapped back to rear loading.
Pete is such a fantastic player ! 💜
The perfect compliment for these new Jimmy Page Telecasters is the recently Reissue Sundragon amp an exact replica of Jimmy Page Supro he used on the 1st Led Zeppelin album
The USA mirror caster is awesome, played it at my local the other week. Far less terrifying price too..
All those Riffs was incredible..A+ guys
@the captain: Can somebody please make a gif of Pete doing the Jimmy page impression!? That would be hilarious!
The funny looking, little, pudgy fellow with his make believe phallic symbol. 😄😄😄😄😄😄
I walked into my local guitar center and saw the dragon tele sitting on the top rack and grabbed the closest worker and said “get that dragon tele”. Plugged in and hit two hard E chords and really felt it.
Look at the joy on their faces...
You constantly impress me Cap! Choosing to not unbox them is a class move.
Really enjoyed this.
LOVE Led Zep!
Hopefully someone lets you film their purchase/your adventure..... :-)
One of the best videos you’ve ever done, thanks for doing it!
LOL - Not sure how many sessions Jimmy played in the 50's Lee.

Great playing guys ... straight from the heart !!
Lee...... When playing whole Lotta love, the main riff, 7th fret E string to 5th fret A string, bend the 5th fret A string up towards the E string a few cents and hit the open D string at the same time to create a dissonance with the open D string and the A string 5th fret. It is how Page plays it and it makes it sound huge. So slide up to the 7th fret ( E string) then hit the A (5th fret) and the D (open) together while bending the A a little sharp. Trust me, you will be like holy crap, that sounds mint!
Fun fact. The Dragon Tele was painted (and ruined) by a friend of his. But he salvaged the neck, put it on a brown Tele with a B-Bender and used it since the late 70-s playing things like Ten Years Gone, Hot Dog, All My Love etc., and then it became his main guitar in the '80s with The Firm.
Damn it you two..... your intro's are so good I just have to keep buying stuff from you! Well played sirs!
I got meself one, the Dragon. Excellent instrument, and you did a good reeview, a very fair assessment ;-)
Oh man I can't wait to see the video of the person that buys that pair. I hope they want to come to the studio and make a whole video out of it!!!
not one of.......... but the greatest rock band of all time period
Wow! This is amazing! Very enjoyable to say the least guys!
Lee's staring at pete in the intro like "you better change that up a bit more before we get a copyright strike"
"He was chasing what is on this guitar, I expect" HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA you killed me, Pete
The greatest guitarist who ever lived!
I don't care what anybody says...
If I had $50k right now, Lee would have $50k right now.
And he had an AC60 and a Supro when he used his tele. Mostly the Supro and Sundragon just reissued the amp to go with that guitar.
Steve Vai flashed me with his mirror Jem once

@Lee Anderton, Jeff Beck gave Jimmy Page the telicastor as a thank you because Jimmy recommended Jeff to the Yardbirds as lead guitarist after Clapton left the band
They discover top loaded telecaster.
Affinity model is top loaded, and cheaper bullet is string through
well squier classic vibe 50's is a good enough replacement for me
Hi Fran … I own a few high end guitars & I have 3 Telecasters … and one of them is a Squier Classic 50’s Vibe Telecaster … I bought it for $275 used … I actually used this guitar for a few gigs … this guitar gets high marks from me. Good luck with your playing.
I think one of the expensive pair comes with a violin bow?! 🎶🎸
They legitimately do!
The Custom Shop ones, not those.
I checked the custom shop ones and they do come with the bow.
Lee, for that final A power chord in Black Dog main riff put your middle finger on E string, 3rd fret, and bend it to make an A. That's the trick.
That phaser in the beginning is sweet.
So I think what happened was, Jeff Beck got his first big check after leaving the band and bought Jimmy the guitar.
Then Jimmy went away for a while and some house sitting artist thought the tele was too plain and then painted all over the tele. Jimmy gets back, is pissed and sands all the paint off and then repainted it like that.
Dont quote me boys. Awesome video
10:30
That sounds FN AWESOME
that intro had fire sauce all over it
Mr jangles and me. You guys did it justice they sound great!”
I would play so much punk rock on that dragon tele. I think I want it
!
The “common thread” between Jimmy Page,Jerry Garcia, Eric Clapton and everyone else back then was that they all new a girl with kaleidoscope eyes called Lucy
Want want want, but just can’t justify the limited run, but I think I will be purchasing one of the others. The jangle really is strong with them both, but especially the White one Pete was playing.
Aaahhh the way he played kashmir ❤️❤️
Great vid! Love you guys, and my JP blonde Tele. It's seriously the best sounding electric guitar I own.
Outstanding video
That style Tele bridge is called a top loader.
Rick Spiers Well done sir. Was about to come this very same thing, but I thought I’d better see if someone already had.

Mythos Golden Fleece
Fleece is right.
Omg, I WANT ONE!!!
In 1958-59 Fender switched to top loading bridges but the change didn't "take," so they changed back. Page's telecaster was a 58. On these new models, you have the option of string through (which happened into the 60s because Leo bought a whole ton of top load bridges and had to use them even after they switched back). I'm not sure if Page's tele had both options, but if it was a stock 58, I'm guessing it didn't...
Love my lil bullet surf green tele. Recent purchase just to say I had a tele. I'm blown away. Hahahaha.
Happy to see that the Captain plays Black Dog wrong the same way I have for half my 50 or so years!
Best video of the channel 🎉
OMG!!! I'm getting the dragon one!!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯
Top loaded strings vs through the body = lower tension/easier bending. As I recall, JP was very much a fan of low tension. Didn't he string his Les Paul with 8's? Its the same principle as lowering your tension with a tuneomatic by raising the stop piece (or top wrapping). It all has to do with less break angle over the saddles = lower tension/easier bending.
Am I the only one who secretly wanted to see the box fall over just see the reactions of captain and danish pete 🤣
Jimmy is the GOAT!!!! Sloppy my Ass.... His Slop has CHOPs... Jimmy's Mr. MELODY maker.
Hey @andertons back in the day 1958 and the first part of 1959 all telecasters came with those bridges. They are called a top loader. He took the design from the P bass. Telecaster players absolutely hated them, So after Leo fender saw and heard how much people hated it, He changed it back to the string through body design we all know. Since Leo had already drilled out all the bridges to be top loader, He didn't want to waste them. Because of this you will see 59-62 Telecasters with the top loader bridge re drilled to also be string through body design.
That chameleon pick guard is awesome captain not normally my thing but it's def eye catching
You guys killed it!
That guitar will be worth millions one day 50 years from now
I like that you can string it both ways - through the body or on the ash tray. Also, I think the Mexican guitar is very cool, and should be every bit as good as the more expensive American made white one.
That Dragon Tele tho.......... please take my wallet
Sounds sick your playing the sound the phaser.
In LZ’s famous 1969 Denmark video Jimmy can clearly be seen using a Marshall ‘Plexi’ Super Lead and sporting his personalized Dragon telecaster.
The Fender was a gift to Jimmy from Jeff, for getting him the gig with the Yardbirds. The Yardbirds wanted to get Jimmy into the band but he declined due to his friendship with Clapton. Later of course Jimmy agreed to join to help them out after a band fight where the bass player quite. Jimmy actually played bass first to help then moved to guitar to collaborate with Beck. Later of course this became the New Yardbirds then Zep.
Bumped into Mr plant after a wolves game what a legend
It's funny that most of all of us Zep fans got Gibson Les Paul's or look a likes to get that Zeppelin tone. I without question was one of them. Then you see Jimmy playing live in 69' with the Tele.
We are so used to Jimmy running around live sporting his Les Paul. I'm not taking anything away from the Les Paul, it's still my favorite guitar. I've owned some Strats in the past and I liked
the sound and all but it wasn't me and it didn't feel good to me. I had one Tele, one. Out of the Fenders I've sold, the Tele was the most missed. I could play a Les Paul and pick up a Tel
and it sounded different but played similarly in my hands. I never felt that way with a Strat. I would like to because The Strat is a cool sound too. I have purchased a Tele recently and I
couldn't be happier. That being said I have to have that Jimmy Page Mirror one!! I like the painted Dragon one but the white looks so cool to me. It also sounded better. Kashmir sounded
great on the Tele but it was done on Jimmy's Danelectro in reality. So, Jimmy fooled us once again lol.
Whoever buys those will be an absolute legend
In the Fender channel they tested these guitars with generic riffs, kudos lads !
is the set sold already? Sorry not buying it myself but cant wait for the video of the person that bought it.
