      Also consider that just before Zeppelin he had literally worked in a hit factory writing songs a la carte, jingles, and such. He had great experience learning what musical structure generated the desired emotional effect. Then he and the boys took all of that and threw it against the wall with ferocity and reveled in the resulting creative catharsis. A they say, legends don’t know they’re going to be legends when they’re becoming legends.

      I’m a Baltimore girl & have seen many concerts at the Capital Center and RFK Stadium. Unfortunately I was born in 67, but I was blessed with older brothers, a father with a 1950’s record collection and a grandmother with a 1920’s 78 record collection! And I saw many bands in the 80’s when these band members were in their 40’s (I thought they were old at the time!). I never saw LZ, but saw Page in The Firm and Plant with the Honeydrippers. Thanks for your service and Rock On!

    The intoxication of his skill and absolute love of music creates the “musical heaven” of his references. Such talent is truly rare. I was raised in Up State New York. In 2009 I was offered an apartment off 22nd North off 12th Street North in the Euclid District by the Catholic Church rectory in order to avoid paying the motel tax. In April of 2010 my house was completed in Hillsborough County Florida. I had become friends with a man who I had met at Church in Pinellas Park Florida. He is about 10 years older than I. He attended a Led Zeppelin concert in Tampa that year. I would have been around 10/11 years old. Small world.

      @Halli Day Notice how your passion matches your skill sets and gifts. I tell young people "Find your passion and there you will find your talents." Guitarist from the Eagles said a few years back that his ability to play was aided by a system that was anchored pretty well. Now it's gone and new artists are going to have to make a new way. I see and hear young people listening to and playing my generations music. Last month while out I saw 2 cover bands playing at 2 different venues ( outside Bars and clubs ) in Saratoga Springs NY playing songs from the 70's, 80's and early 90's. The average age of the patrons was between 21-30 years of age with a few people who were under 21 years of age sprinkled in for good measure here and there. This phenomenon is both good as well as bad. Good in that it says something positive about my generation. Bad in that our young people are struggling to have their own identity. Our youth are being sold a bill of goods that lead to either death or prison or both. Either by dying in prison, or after being in prison. And God's Little Ones are being murdered in their beds. In their car seats while holding a Happy Meal. On the interstates.

    Still the incredible Jimmy Page - was and always will be and there is no doubt about that... He rips "How Many More Times" for real!!! And "Levee" - what a drum sound, Bonzo's snare sounds 50 feet deep ! Yes sir, Jimmy Page spearheaded the incredible Led Zeppelin movement and if, by some crazy way, you missed it, I truly feel bad for you... Not only is Jimmy Page an amazing and innovative guitarist, musician and songwriter but he is a very distinguished - world class gentleman...

    One of the things that many don't consider when talking Bonham: He didn't play drums to fill in or, round out, or complete some other void.
    When he "filled" with Jimmy, it was very clear. The drums for him were an instrument ON THEIR OWN, and too many drummers didn't let that happen. I am SO grateful that I had the pleasure to see them, mere weeks before Robert's son passed away. I never saw Floyd or Genesis or Yes, and that is devastating, but to think that I could have missed seeing MY Fab Four together is unfathomable.

    Very gifted ( and very lucky guy ) ! He’s been in showbiz from an early age and made his first appearance on telly strumming away to a skiffle tune telling the presenter of the show that he’d like to do ‘ biological research ‘ when he grows up !! There’s another clip of him in his teens being interviewed by which time his ambitions had changed from science to Art School ! The common thread through these years must have been his love for the guitar ; stretching his repertoire and mastering new chords all the while. Most of us give up at some point in those early years of things don’t ‘ click ‘ and just leave school and get a job. But, Page is an example of pure determination and ambition and hard work that can take a little a long way. It’s truly amazing what some people can achieve with their lives when they put their minds to it .

    • @gjgfghv4116

      How Many More Times is such an underrated song! It slithers, pulses, oozes along, pulling you in and blowing you away. And live, it was even better. They used it for a closing number in the early years. Raw, bluesy, and powerful! My personal favorite.

    • @stechriswillgil3686
      @stechriswillgil3686 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gjgfghv4116 Yeah I agree. The way it segues into that song by Free ‘ The Hunter ‘ is quite clever too. This is the thing with Zeppelin : they took stuff already out there and improved on it ! My only criticism ( for what it’s worth ) is that these guys, and also others like The Rolling Stones, Jeff beck, John Mayall etc.. where only young white guys in their teens employing lyrics which in reality only a 45 yr old black railroad worker from the 1930s Deep South America would authentically sing ! It’s hardly likely that Mick or Robert would’ve been so hard done by, by women or left a trail of paternity suits behind them at their tender age of 19 ! Still, it’s all good stuff !
