Marc Martel is the one who did the singing it the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie :) everyone says he's Freddie reincarnated lol, it's easy to see why, he literally sounds like him. ♥
I remember Bohemian Rhapsody when it first came out (1975) and was announced as number 1 - I was 9 years old, my brother and I just lying on the floor in our living room, light out, the coal fire being the only illumination in the room - what an experience. It was like an opera we were listening too. Never ever forget that. This guy was amazing (and so were the band). Thanks for this.
Oh yeah! I was a bit older than you but same experience. I laid down on my shag carpet with my massive headphones and turned off the lights and turned on my black light. It was a state of bliss....
As close to Freddie as you can get. Am sure Freddie would be proud. I was fckin impressed. I shut my eyes and got chills. Upset that he's not here. 😢 Great vid. ❤
Marc Martel started out in the Christian band Downhere. They were great. Some of their best songs are "Calmer of the Storm," "The More," "A Better Way," "How Many Kings," and my personal favorite "Let Me Rediscover You." You should check them out sometime. I worked at a summer camp that Downhere led worship at a couple months before Marc won the Queen contest. Got to hang out with the whole band all week doing things like playing paintball and ziplining with them. Marc and all the guys are great people. From what I was told, Marc didn't even want to do the Queen contest at first but everyone else talked him into it because he sounded so much like Freddie. Saw them a couple years later and they were still mad that we destroyed them playing paintball. The rec staff showed no mercy to anyone. Lol
As my fellow countryman, Max Boyce, would say “I was there” It was a fantastic show! There’s a Freddie birthday party every September at the Casino in Montreux Switzerland
That isn't from American Idol. That's from Freddie's 70th "birthday party," in Montreux. Marc is fronting "Queen Extravaganza" (QuEx), the official Queen tribute band, put together by Roger Taylor. Just like Queen did in concert, they left the stage and left a video/backing track play during the operatic portion. Currently, Marc has his own band, "One Vision of Queen," and is selling out shows around the world. Unlike QuEx, Marc and his band play the ENTIRE song all the way through, every night.
You and your beautiful wife should react to the audience at a green day concert singing this song before the concert ever happens!! Watch how the clouds part and the sun shining across the center of the audience at the end, Freddie gave praise to the audience that day!!
Marc Martel is an amazing singer, but can imitate Freddie perfectly (among others). He has a video called The Mercurotti where he sings as both Freddie & Luciano Pavarotti in the classic opera "Nessun Dorma". I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys either artist.
Marc is absolutely amazing!!!! I so wish he was fronting Queen. I’m just not a fan of Adam. I discovered Marc in 2011 when he was on the Ellen show. He sang my favorite Queen song, Somebody To Love. It was spectacular! It gave me chills! Just like Freddie’s live version has always given me chills. I am sure every time Marc sings Queen songs, Freddie is smiling down on him.
Thank you so much Sebs Duran for your comments our stars today.... I am 70 and I lived and enjoyed those times. Today it is hit or miss but back in the day we had a plethora of artists who could sang the shit out of songs. History does indeed repeat itself. Time to bring it back home. Personally I respect what you say. You are a young gun and I put my gun away. Keep doing what you do.
Let's be totally transparent. AL got the gig because of American Idol, and he's had a long run because of the quality of the source material. There's no denying that he's luckier than Ringo.
As a recent subscriber, I've really been enjoying your/y'all's reactions, so far, and I look forward to more as well! This was an amazing cover from someone that I can't believe that I had never heard of before! It was fantastic! Other than Adam Lambert, of course, the only other person/band that I had ever thought came anywhere near the original had been Panic! At The Disco's live cover, until I saw this video! If you haven't heard Brendon Urie's version then I would love to see your reaction to his performance and see what your thoughts are on how it compares! Can't wait to see what you react to next!
Not really given that Queen Extravaganza was created by Roger Taylor in 2011. It was their own official tribute band to themselves. Their debut on Idol is on YT. Go have a look and wait for the surprise ending ; ) The band was later downsized to what you see above when it was realized that the fans were going to see Marc and these excellent musicians, not the over the top 'extravaganza' part. The same reason Marc is able to draw audiences of thousands, even 10K at one concert last year despite not fronting a famous band or having the backing of a major record label..
Check out Greenday audience sings bohemian rhapsody. They had music over the loud speakers waiting for greenday to come out to perform. Bohemian rhapsody came on and the whole audience started singing. Near the end, the clouds parted and the sun came out. I think that was Freddie saying he approved.
Funny, I just bought my ticket to go see The Queen Extravaganza when they're next in my neck of the woods; looking forward to being able to compare and contrast (my first ever rock concert was Queen in May 1977, and then I saw them 11 more times over the next 4 or 5 years. They set the bar so high for any act or performers after that ;-) In recent years, I've been going to Queen + Adam Lambert shows and will do for as long as they keep touring -- they never disappoint, even if Freddie is still very much missed).
Just so you know , Marc has not been with the Queen Extravaganza for few years now. The current lead singer is Alirio Netto. For some unfathomable reason Queen doesn't really advertise that. Marc's current very much loved, world touring band is One Vision of Queen [ formerly Ultimate Queen Celebration]
@@artfulstories I did not know that! Is Alirio still touring? There's next to no publicity for QuEx and half the Queen fans think Marc is still in it because of that. =_=
Hopefully, Marc performs in your neck of the woods some time soon. Seen him multiple times. No one, and I mean it, NO ONE is as good as Marc where Queen is concerned, after Freddie oc.
That's the bad part about discovering music from the past, you get tributes and covers. If your up for a reaction- 1995 movie called, French Kiss, has a song, Feels like a woman, by Zucchero. Would have loved to go to their concerts when they could still hit those levels or still alive. Enjoy your show, keep it up.
Please can you listen to Marc Martel singing Queen's You Take My Breath Away. It's heartbreaking. A live recording in his studio and on TH-cam from 6 years ago (today is 22/09/24). Listed on his channel Marc Martel as 'Marc Martel - You Take My Breath Away (Queen Cover)'
🤘🏻😍💭 This was nice but.. THE best cover EVER of Bahamian Rhapsody is Panic! At The Disco's front man, Brendon Urie Live from the Death of a Bachelor Tour ❤ It's literally a new dropping performance❤❤❤❤❤
If they had put him with Queen instead of Adam Lambert they would have compared him to Freddie too much Bc he does sound so much like him. That’s his natural singing voice and he sounds so much like Freddie it’s incredible!
It's a good, even great song. But for all the reverence given to it, One For The Vine by Genesis is better lyrically and musically (although I admittedly concede that Rhapsody's vocals sound better).

What is it about people that makes them so defensive when someone is doing their job absolutely brilliantly? No one says you can’t listen to Freddie. But his music needs to live on. It’s too good to not be played live! THAT is what songs are for! To remember their creators by listening to their songs played long after their passing, played by anyone and everyone!
If you would rather listen to Adam go and listen to Adam. It does neither him nor Freddie any credit having you falsely bash another musician just because you prefer someone else.
I'm fairly certain Freddie would appreciate Marc's passion for music, his musicality and singing talent. That's what great, ethical and hard working musicians do: appreciate their peers. I've seen countless musicians praise Marc's work. The majority of excellent musicians don't make a living with their own art - only a few do. Many earn a living with music, but they don't become superstars. A million musicians work behind the scenes of the music industry, for the benefit of our consumption. I say few, because relatively speaking, it IS few. Queen hit it big because a million factors fell into place perfectly, like a lottery ticket win. This is what producer, musician, TH-camr extraordonaire Rick Beato recently said on his video, "Great Bands That Never Made It". Even though Marc hasn't made it "big" with his own music doesn't mean he's any less an artist. Impressionist painter Van Gogh only sold ONE painting in his entire lifetime. He worked extremely hard on his craft, painting over 600 pieces of art and multiple other things.
@@artfulstoriesOf course, no one can say what other people think, but Freddie Mercury has made it clear in many interviews what he thinks of imitations. He would probably also be disappointed by QUAL, his old band members. In contrast to AL, Marc Martell has a completely different musical background. He would be, yes we all have to earn money, but quite capable of incorporating his own songs and shows. Instead, he even imitates Freddie Mercury's playing on the piano. There's even a video of him on TH-cam "How to sing like Freddie Mercury". He's wasting his talent. AL has no choice but to roam the world with Brian May and Roger Taylor and dance to their tune. After her "resignation" he will also be gone, but Marc Martell could at least gradually detach his shows from Freddie Mercury or at least deliver his own interpretations. David Garrett's Bohemian Rhapsody is great, or this song on the organ. But if even Brian May and Roger Taylor don't make it and they don't have to pay attention to money anymore, it should sell well below its value.
