Those hadiths claiming that the prophet fasted on the day of Ashura are false. The Prophet (SAWW) did not follow or perform any traditions. Unless that of which Allah (SWT) has commanded. Do not diminsh The Prophet of Allah with these weak ahadiths.
Ashura is a major day for all Muslims that the holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) grandson Husayn(as) was slaughtered for having stood up for truth & justice against oppression & tyranny with alot of his family against Yazeed. Please do not underestimate this sacrifice as it was done for the sake of Allah(swt) to Keep the holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) Islam from being hijacked from it's Prophetic authenticity. Mu3awiyya always had weird and harsher rulings for no reason. And he shouldnt have chose his tyrant son to be Caliph that is against what Malik mentioned that we dont respect those who strive to keep power within themselves rather than allocating power justly. Many Malikis might disagree with me but thats what makes sense to me clearly. I dont respect him.
So Muhammad had to find out from Jews that moses freed them on that day and then he made it a holiday? What if he didn't run into the Jews that day, would he not have added it as a holiday
Initially Muslims were fasting and praying similar to the Jews since out of the 2 monotheistic religions Christianity and Judaism, the last was closer to their beliefs , up until revelation came from God that we are a different community(ummah) and our fast will be during Ramadan and our direction of praying ( (Qibla) is towards the Kaba.
After this, the Ashura tradition was kept since it's an event written in the Quran and the month of Muharamm is sacred as well, however it tends to be more important for the Shia as a day of mourning for the death of the Prophet's grandson ( PBUT).

Yes but the Companions used the term to differentiate themselves from the kharijite sect. This sect believed in murder of anyone who did not share their views. Im a 7th Day Adventist Christian. Heres a few line of reasonings to consider using in order to win over to the truth in Christ Jesus. 1. The character/prophets of the bible and the prophets in islam that are the same such as adam, eve, enoch, noah, moses, king david and so on. Because islam does not give us the full story of their life or tell us how they came to be ask our muslim friend can the lineage in the bible be trusted. 2. Secondly the common prophets/characters in islam often have a partial life story or none at all such as enoch. Then ask can the bible be trusted to let us know who enoch is or let us know who the other prophet is who name is only found else where beside the quran or the holy bible. The line of reasoning is to build confidence in the validity of the bible and not to dispute. 3. Because the life of moses is incomplete in the quran and does not explain about the tabernacle in the wilderness, the feast days, pass over or day of atonement. Ask if the bible can be trusted to understand what those things were about and what they stood for. If the bible is to be trusted to understand the prophets of the quran or to know who there parents are or to know their full life story. Does the validity of the bible have weight. This is just a few small examples using a line of reasoning to bring a believer in the quran to the attention of the accuracy and validity of the bible. The purpose and goal is to show the truth in love and not in vain disputing.
It can not be trusted because these Old and New Testament are not the original revelation which was changed over time . We respected them though but we have the Last Testament, the guidance from God which is preserved and where He addresses us Himself. Following these facts, it becomes clear that the way the Holy Quran addresses the stories of the prophets is the way that is intended by the Creator, hence sufficient as coming from a holly book. We also have numerous hadith from the Prophet peace be upon him further elucidating those stories as needed. Finaly we do have the so called Izraeliyat, compendium of the prophetic information gathered from Jews and Christians which is used to praise the prophets and as a source of morals but not as a legal source for obvious reasons. I hope this was helpfull.
Because Moses was a Muslim. Muslim means one who submits to God. All messengers from Abraham down to Mohammed (PBUTA) were sent by the one and only God.

Those hadiths claiming that the prophet fasted on the day of Ashura are false. The Prophet (SAWW) did not follow or perform any traditions. Unless that of which Allah (SWT) has commanded. Do not diminsh The Prophet of Allah with these weak ahadiths.
Exactly bro .
This truly is a universal message that unfortunately a lot of Muslims & other people tend to ignore or merely overlook sadly hence not truly benefitting from it's divine spiritual essence.
However by disacknowledging Ashura, I feel would be a real source of displeasure & disrespect to the sanctity & pure love that the holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) had held in high esteem for both his grandsons & grand-daughters.
Thank you, i have a question: why remorsing hussien death and not the prophet death or Ali?
The prophet only can can ask for forgiveness for an individual at judgment day, not hussin or Ali, so what is the point for remorsing
Shias remorse all their (ahlul bayt) death. Hussain and Ali are representative of the Prophet and inturn Allah, so yeah they are amongst those that will intercede for Muslims.

Aashura was long before karbala.
Karbala just happened to take place in muharram. The fadeelat of aashura is fasting because of what prophet muhamed said regarding moosa a.s.
There is no fadeelat of karbala besides mourning the prophets family. But not linked to fasting
Agree except with " just happened". Nothing just happens, Allah swt does everything for a reason, right?
Banu Israil facing the Pharaoh and Ahlul Bait facing the Pharaoh of their time. Every time and every life has its Pharaoh. Unfortunately some Muslims sided with Yazeed and they do it even today and serve his likes. Very important.

Hey we love and respect Jews they were given Torah at one time and they were the people of Prophet Moses, i take that as compliment, no problem amigo

Please stop using the term “Sunni” we are Muslims. Prophet Muhammad PBUH didn’t call himself a sunni, neither should we. We are Muslim and only Muslim
Yes but the Companions used the term to differentiate themselves from the kharijite sect. This sect believed in murder of anyone who did not share their views. 'Ahles Sunnah' is the main body of Muslims. The Shia have different theological beliefs. The definition of a Muslim has been given in the hadith of the bedouin and the hadith of Jibreel.

Why do Muslims have any right to Moses? He came after Ishmael. There is no relation to Moses and Muslims.
