    Since Wolfe is a CFI, I finally logged my first hour toward my PPL!! Hope you all enjoyed this one. The citation drinks gas at low altitudes… lesson learned… we’ll stick with the Bonanzas for these lunch runs 😂

      A little bit of words for the wise when you have a pro around and he asked you if you have any questions feel free to ask anything because it's rare to have them available
      Sometimes it's easy to feel weird about asking a question but like in the military they say no question is a bad question and that should always hold true

    An additional thing to remember about short trips is they mess up engine hour/landing cycle ratio. You don't want it lower than 1:1. Fortunately, longer trips help balance out the short trips. (Former CJ1 owner) How long ago did you make the flight? I looked on AirNav and Jet A today at FFZ is $5.84. Great video!

    • @JRAviation

    • @ishankramer
      @ishankramer ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Why is that ratio important ? Is it maintenance related or simply cost effectiveness ? Genuinely curious!

    • @steveddavis
      @steveddavis ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@ishankramer Ultimately it has a lot to do with life cycle costs, especially if you are selling the aircraft. Landing gear has scheduled maintenance and replacement life. Generally buyers don't want to see way more landing cycles than engine cycles. Lots of short flights on retractable landing gear equals more frequent maintenance and sooner replacement.

    Happy for you guys and that you can share such experiences, and thank you for inspiring others to discover aviation, even if it's now a very rich man's thing. This is a bit bitter sweet as with moderately hard work, back in the 80's I was able to buy my first airplane at 18' (A 66' Cessna 337 with 1800TT and 300hrs on both engines for $11,000! and afford college fly 300miles home occasionally with a business and working summers.
    Later on about $4,500 a month I was able to afford a P-Baron, and occasionally hire a frend and his Lear 25D for business trips. Today, $4,500 a month is poverty level, and I can hardly afford to drive. Fly safe, and think and plan for the future guys. Cheers!

Car Insurance, $100/mo That's $3,000 off the top. Going in there one summer the aircraft ahead of us was having trouble geting it on the runway and attempted a go-around. They didn't make it and Crashed on the west slope of the mesa. We diverted to Flag Staff.

    Fun fact. I follow flights on Flight Radar 24. Your airplane, N52TL is a Cessna 501, N52LT is a Cessna 550. My dyslexia frustrated me when I couldn't find this flight by tail number! Not realizing that I swapped the two letters, both are Cessna jets and I thought I had the right airplane.

    Awesome guys, the dream of many and now you have to go next level and travel to other countries and I bet the views will go up in a 100%. You don't have to fly to far you can start with Central America, Mexico or Islands near US.

    We fly in there for burger run with a CJ4 without issues, your approach seemed a lot easier then typical direction.
