I wouldn't inflate these guys ego anymore than it already is. These videos are nothing more than a lowkey wallet flex. There is way more to life than money and possessions. Plus reality is never as it appears, especially on the internet.

An additional thing to remember about short trips is they mess up engine hour/landing cycle ratio. You don't want it lower than 1:1. Fortunately, longer trips help balance out the short trips. (Former CJ1 owner) How long ago did you make the flight? I looked on AirNav and Jet A today at FFZ is $5.84. Great video!

Generally buyers don't want to see way more landing cycles than engine cycles. Lots of short flights on retractable landing gear equals more frequent maintenance and sooner replacement.
@@oreo10111A 501 with +/- 6000 hours is a low time airplane. You’re probably paying 600-1M depending on equipment so they’re economical to buy, not so economical to fly. It’s a trade off
Happy for you guys and that you can share such experiences, and thank you for inspiring others to discover aviation, even if it's now a very rich man's thing. This is a bit bitter sweet as with moderately hard work, back in the 80's I was able to buy my first airplane at 18' (A 66' Cessna 337 with 1800TT and 300hrs on both engines for $11,000! and afford college fly 300miles home occasionally with a business and working summers. Later on about $4,500 a month I was able to afford a P-Baron, and occasionally hire a frend and his Lear 25D for business trips. Today, $4,500 a month is poverty level, and I can hardly afford to drive. Fly safe, and think and plan for the future guys. Cheers!

Health Insurance $500+/month, Electric, $300/mo, Internet, $120. Car Insurance, $100/mo That's $3,000 off the top. Take about 25% off for state, and federal taxes, and that leaves you $3,375 take home, or for the average person, about $75 left over for everything else.

If not for Food banks and an eBike I'd be living in a tent, which Portland will pay you $1,000 a month to do. I'm thinking about the Midwest too, or maybe going back to S.E. Asia, or maybe try Armenia, Bulgaria, Rwanda or Turkey, but I might see if I can buy a hanger with plumbing and get an old motor home to park inside.

Love that old school panel! Bummer someone put a huge scratch on the GTN650 though :( I honestly think learning to fly with round dials makes you a better pilot. Of course everyone wants all glass, but really all I want is a good AP :)
I've always loved aviation and had my private pilot's license in the 80's, but didn't have the income to continue flying. These videos are great, but I'd love to see some where you guys teach entrepreneurship and provide some guidance to some of us old guys who would love to learn some of what you have learned as younger men. Congrats on the Citation purchase and keep the videos coming.
@@Rooksahocongrats. Some of us did it the hard way. At 18 I was flying a 210D Cessna for a small local corporation. Logging over 500 hours a year. At 19 o took a second job aerial spraying. By 25 I was flying business jet left seat for a large corporation. It can be done just takes drive and determination. Great video!
Great video. Loved flying the 501 and greasing it onto the Sedonna runway. OK, maybe that was a little bit of an exageration. Landing at Sedonna with a strong crosswind can be very challenging. Going in there one summer the aircraft ahead of us was having trouble geting it on the runway and attempted a go-around. They didn't make it and Crashed on the west slope of the mesa. We diverted to Flag Staff.
Someone in front of you crashing on the side...no biggie...pardon me while I slide down this runway real quick like before it's starts getting busy. Fuels expensive
That's a really nice plane. My family was middle class and I worked hard to become a self made millionaire... hoping I can buy something like that someday.
Blessed to own my own '78 501SP and it is not only easy and fun to fly but one of the best investments I've ever made. I couldn't do the low flight level trips y'all do because 75gph burn at FL370 is enough for me. Lol

Fun fact. I follow flights on Flight Radar 24. Your airplane, N52TL is a Cessna 501, N52LT is a Cessna 550. My dyslexia frustrated me when I couldn't find this flight by tail number! Not realizing that I swapped the two letters, both are Cessna jets and I thought I had the right airplane.
Love Sedona, I lived and worked out of that little airport for several years of my young life back in the 70s. The beautiful place where you had your 1500 dollar hamburger was our FBO office back then. Another funny note that has changed since the good ol days as they say LOL we always took off on 21 and landed on 03 because of the downhill slope. Those were great days, so many famous aviators flew threw Sedona. It seemed like we always had Cessna, Beechcraft, and even Lear Jet out there filming all of there advertising material. Great memories

Yep they are made to opperate up in higher altitudes for economic longer rane flights .
If you really wanted to save money you’d have walked to McDonalds. Have plane, will travel.
Free lesson towards your pilot’s license: before flying any plane, do some reading up in the POH!

You’ll not enjoy the maintenance payments. Plan on about $1500 + fuel per hour plus the pilot. I fly a Citation 2 where it’s $1800+fuel /hr and crew.
